Over a month past Christmas but here's the fic I was so excited to share. I don’t think I did Rathbone's Sherlock justice but I think it still turned out cute! Enjoy!
Day: 5
Prompt: Teaching someone to skate
Fandom: Sherlock Holmes (Rathbone Movies)
Character: Sherlock Holmes
Ship: Sherlock x Reader
Warnings: Nosebleed
Word Count: 3470
Christmas Outing ❄️
London air was crisp from the cold, its streets covered by fluffy blankets of snow, the white long since disrupted by muddy browns from traffic. Homes and apartments were kept warm by lit fireplaces— 221B Baker Street was no different.
Inside, the apartment was decorated for the coming holiday season, more so than usual. Sherlock wasn't one to decorate much for Christmas. Or any holiday for that matter. Watson, despite the jolly fellow he often was, was the same.
No, this was the meddlesome work of someone new. A woman Sherlock met at the beginning of last year. They first encountered each other during one of his cases. (Y-n) wasn't the client. Heaven's no, Sherlock is a professional after all. She was the client's cousin who happened to be visiting during the time he was on the case. The two were fast friends. He could tell she had an intelligent mind behind sweet doe-like eyes and a charming smile. Truly, from the moment he laid eyes on her, his heart was forfeit.
Apart from being a great help to the case— as Watson had been out of town at the time— Sherlock enjoyed her company. They talked of books, history, music, and the like. Anything and everything they found interesting.
Once the case was over, they bid each other goodbye with a promise of an occasional letter, and that was that. Until they crossed paths once again, just a little over a year ago. Come to find out, (Y-n) was staying with a relative while she found her own apartment in London. Now, she was a regular at Baker Street. Even occasionally accompanying the two men on cases.
(Y-n) wasn't entirely worried by social expectations, and with both parents gone, there was no one she cared to appease. That being said, she did not mind being seen entering a single gentleman's home. She knew the truth of their relationship. Friends, that's all. No matter how she wished for that not to be true.
In a comfortable chair that was just the right size, (Y-n) was curled up with a book in her hand and her lovely little dog in her lap. Across from her was Watson, reading the newspaper in his usual spot. Soft music filled the room as Sherlock played his violin near a window. (Y-n) peeked around the back of her chair at him. He stood tall, eyes closed, with his jaw pressed to the violin's chin rest as it rested on his left shoulder, his left hand held the neck, pressing strings as the other held the bow and moved back and forth in gentle fluid motions.
To (Y-n), he looked as near to an angel as a man could be. The midday sunlight lit the edges of his neat hair, giving him an almost ethereal glow. She couldn't help but smile at him. She, too, was smitten with Sherlock from the start, but she truly fell for him the first time she saw him play his violin. Much to Watson's dismay, Sherlock started playing even more often now that (Y-n) was there almost daily. He rather liked that it always got her attention.
Sherlock's eyes opened, spotting (Y-n) smiling at him, and he returned the smile. (Y-n) shrank back into the chair—and out of Sherlock's sight— with a flustered expression and hid behind her book. Her dog sat up at the sudden movement, confused. Watson saw the whole display, the way Sherlock still fondly watched (Y-n)'s chair despite not even being able to see her.
It had been this way between the two from the beginning, and he was getting tired of it. Watson grumbled to himself. He had half the mind to tell them of their feelings himself!
The music stopped as Sherlock lifted his head from the chin rest and watched something out the window for a moment. He set down the instrument before placing a hand on (Y-n)'s chair and leaning around the back to see her. “Get ready, my dear. We're going out.“ He gave her a quick smile before he turned and left for his room. (Y-n) watched after him. Confused, she got up, hdolding her dog in her arms, and followed after him. “What do you mean? Have you got something pl(Y-n)ed?“ He rummaged through a chest in his closet and pulled out a pair of ice skating shoes.
“Precisely!“ He held up the shoes and walked past her, back out into the parlor. “We are going ice skating! I apologize we haven't gone sooner, but I was waiting for-“ (Y-n) stopped him with a hand on his forearm. “Wait, what? I must admit I'm.. a little lost?“ “Ah, pardon me. You had told me nearly a week ago that you wished to learn ice skating and I mean to teach you.“ Her face lit up, breaking into a smile. “That sounds grand! However, I have no shoes.“
A knock sounded at the apartment's door. “Mr. Holmes!“ Mrs. Hudson's voice came from behind it. “A package has arrived!“ Sherlock quickly made his way to the door, opening it. Mrs. Hudson stood holding a neat, medium-sized box in her arms. “Thank you, Mrs. Hudson. Happy Christmas.“ Sherlock gave her a polite smile. “Happy Christmas to you too, Mr. Holmes!“ With that, she left, and Sherlock closed the door. He crossed the room back to (Y-n), an excited gleam in his eye. “Here you are, dear.“
He held the box out to (Y-n). She set her dog on the ground —where it immediately started sniffing Sherlock— and slowly grabbed the box. With a smile, she opened the box to reveal two new ice skating shoes. “Oh! Oh, Sherlock! They're beautiful!“ “Grab your coat, then. And join me?“ (Y-n) nodded, then gestured to her dog. “What about Olive? Can I leave him here?“
Sherlock scooped the little black dog up into his arms and walked over to an unsuspecting Watson. “Of course! Watson wouldn't object to taking care of our good boy, now would you Watson?“ He gently dropped Olive onto Watson's lap, startling the poor man. “Hmm? Oh, uh, of course not!“ His hand quickly found the dog's soft fur as he gave it a couple of pats. “You kids have fun! Don't worry about us we'll be fine! Isn't that right, Olive?“ Olive gave a small bark in response, and Watson smiled at his friends. “See?“
(Y-n) covered her mouth as she laughed. Content, Sherlock went to the door and began putting on his coat before helping (Y-n) into hers. “Shall we?“ He sticks his elbow out for her to take. “Let's!“ She slid her hand onto his arm. She could feel her face growing warm and decided to look at the floor. Completely missing how Sherlock gazed lovely down at her.
The place Sherlock had in mind wasn't too far, but due to the cold, he decided it'd be best if they took a cab. They sat in comfortable silence at first till Sherlock broke it. “I'm glad you like them. I did try to get a color to match your winter coat.“ (Y-n) gave him a fond smile. Sherlock, though most would never be able to tell, felt butterflies rush through him. “They're perfect, Sherlock. Truly.“ She said, leaning forward slightly and boldly grabbing one of his hands that rested in his lap.
His mind played a scene where he brought her hand to his lips and pressed a kiss to her knuckles. Instead, he gave her hand a small squeeze and patted it with his free hand before letting go entirely. “I never expected you to want to teach me to skate! I must admit, I'm quite thrilled!“ Sherlock could do little to repress his smile.
The rest of the ride was uneventful but full of conversation. Sherlock got out first, offering his hand to (Y-n) as she stepped out of the cab as well. The ice only had a few other people scattered around. The two made their way to just before land ended, and the thick frozen water started. Sherlock was putting his own shoes on as (Y-n) struggled against her skirts and boned bodice in an attempt to undo her shoelaces.
Sherlock kneeled in front of her. “May I?“ He asked, gesturing to her boot. “Oh, um… yes, please.“ With her permission, Sherlock dutifully and gently took off her boots and put on her ice skates. “How does that feel?“ He asked, tying the last shoe lace. “Perfect, thank you.“
(Y-n) was sure her face was red by now. She hoped Sherlock wouldn't notice or would write it off as the cold— like how his own ears were flushed. Sherlock stood, took (Y-n) by the hand, and helped her walk onto the ice.
“Don't be scared, I have you.“ He held her firmly as he showed her the basics of skating. How to stand, walk, and move; then to basic maneuvers, all while keeping his hand in hers. By now, a little sprinkle of snow had started, but they hardly noticed, too engrossed in each other's company.
“Now, try it without me.“ (Y-n) nodded nervously and let go of Sherlock's hand. Her legs shook slightly as she found her balance and made small movements forward. “Brilliant!“ He cheered. As she got more confident and skated further distances, Sherlock followed close behind her, ready to catch (Y-n) if necessary. She looked over her shoulder at Sherlock, beaming making him smile back.
Suddenly, a small child sped by in front of (Y-n), startling her. She staggered back, her feet slipping out from under her unable to find any grip on the ice and her arms flailed around in a futile attempt to find something to grab. Instead, she knocked Sherlock back, her elbow hitting him in the face and sending them both tumbling backward— knocking the air out of Sherlock as his back hit the ice.
(Y-n) whipped around to face him, shocked and worried. “Oh! Sherlock! Oh my god! Are- are you alright?“ He groaned as he sat up, still laying back supported by his elbows. “I'm-” He cut himself off, wincing. Sherlock felt something trickle from his nose. “Fine…” He finished. “Your nose is bleeding! Here, let me help you!“ (Y-n) pulled out a dainty white embroidered handkerchief and brought it to his nose. “I'm so sorry, Sherlock! Oh, I've made a right mess of this outing…”
Sherlock couldn't help but smile at how she fretted over him. It was sweet. He laid a hand on hers— the one holding the handkerchief. “Nonsense, Dear. I'm having a wonderful time.“ (Y-n) stared down at him, a blush bloomed on her face. His hair and clothes were disheveled, face flushed and blood soaked through the handkerchief onto her fingers— how was he still so handsome in such a state?
“Uh- um, let me help you up!“ She slipped her hand out from Sherlock's and scrambled to stand up. Only achieving to slip forward and fall into his chest. “Sorry! Sorry!“ Sherlock laughed at her hurried apologies. Going slower this time she sat up, stood, and steadied herself before offering Sherlock a hand.
He accepted the help and gently grabbed (Y-n)'s hand. Without actually pulling on her much he stood. “Perhaps we should sit for a moment.“ Sherlock suggested, his face smeared with blood as he still covered his nose with the handkerchief. (Y-n) nodded nervously and the both skated to the edge of the frozen water. They changed their shoes back, neither of them bothering to lace them properly.
Sherlock pointed to a small bench under a bare tree in a secluded spot. “Let's rest there, shall we?“ (Y-n) nodded in response.
Quickly, they reached the spot, sat, setting their skates down nearby. After a breath of calm, Sherlock laughed, startling (Y-n). “Apologies. I hadn't expected for this to go in such a way!“ He smiled so endearingly, it made (Y-n)'s stomach flutter. She looked away bashfully. “Is, is it still bleeding?“ Sherlock took the handkerchief away finding his nose bleed to have ended leaving blood smeared across his top lip and cheek. “It has— I am in quite a state.“ (Y-n) frowned at the blood, then rummaged through her small bag, pulling out another crisp white handkerchief. “You have another?“ “A woman always comes prepared.“
She held the handkerchief out. He accepted it, and began trying to wipe away the dried blood. Sherlock made a quiet grunt of pain but kept wiping his nose with little success. (Y-n) took his hand, stopping him. “May I?“ Sherlock nodded and let her take the handkerchief. She leaned over and put it in the snow at their feet then pulled it out letting the snow melt and make the cotton damp.
(Y-n) leaned into Sherlock slightly, her weight held up by her other arm as she gently wiped Sherlocks face free of blood. “Hmm, smart thinking, Dear.“ Sherlock gave her a small— and slightly pained— smile. (Y-n) smiled coyly back, her face hot. “Well, men seem to always choose the hard path.“ He chuckled at this. “Seems so indeed…”
The two sat in a comfortable silence as (Y-n) took care of Sherlock, the latter attempting to quell his flustered heart lest (Y-n) would hear.
“Thank you, for helping me.“ Sherlock thanked (Y-n) once she put her handkerchief away. She looked at him with a mix of suprise and guilt. “Oh, of course, Sherlock! Why, its my fault you're in such a state… If only I had not said anything about ice skating.“ Sherlock looked at her for a long moment. “I still would have invited you on an outing. Regardless, I've had a rather nice time with you.“
(Y-n) looked down shyly, words caught in her throat. “And I you.“ Was all she could muster in the moment. A moment of silence passed between them. A breeze shifted the snow around and the sounds of excited children skating could be heard. (Y-n) finally looked at Sherlock only to find him already looking at her affectionately.
The genuine care that his face held each time he looked at her gave (Y-n) the confidence to tell him. To tell Sherlock Holmes exactly how he made her feel. “Sherlock…” She started without looking at him. She could feel him staring at her, paying full attention. “I need to tell you something important.“ (Y-n) struggled to keep a calm face, her eyebrows scrunched and she frowned slightly. She nervously pulled off a glove and started twisting it in her hands.
“Please, please don’t laugh… I.. love you, Sherlock. I really, truly do.“ (Y-n) stared at her hands, too afraid to look at Sherlock. A warm hand settles on her bare one causing (Y-n) to look up at Sherlock. She didn't think she'd ever seen Sherlock express such happiness before. The look of pure love and excitement sent (Y-n)'s heart pounding. “Oh, my Dearest (Y-n)…” He placed his free hand on (Y-n)'s face, holding it gently. “I love you too.“ He coughed awkwardly then laughed. “I apologize, I'm not good at this…”
Never would (Y-n) have ever thought that the Sherlock Holmes could be made flustered. Yet, here he was: face flushed, smiling and nearly tripping over his words— nearly. “You have an incredible mind, (Y-n). And I'm afraid that between that and your handsome face… I am rather powerless to your charms!“ (Y-n) laughed, long and happy. “Honestly, I hadn't dared to think you felt this way, even in my dreams.“ He raised his eyebrows. “Is it truly so outlandish?“
(Y-n) scoffed playfully. “What, that the Sherlock Holmes, a bachelor who's known for turning down even the most eligible women? Yes, it seemed a little unlikely!“ It was true, Sherlock is a well known man, he's intelligent, handsome and has quite the reputation. (Y-n) wasn't the first woman he'd met during a case, and while it was rare, some of the woman would fall for him.
To be honest, Sherlock had thought little on the idea of marriage and the like. He was happy with his violin, cases and his dear friend Dr. Watson. That was till he met (Y-n). Sherlock had met plenty of beautiful and smart women but (Y-n)? There was just something about her.
“I've simply never been in love before.“ He stated. (Y-n) stared at him surprised. “Not ever?“ “Never.“ (Y-n)'s face grew hot again as she dropped her voice to a whisper. “You've never even been kissed?“ He shook his head with a chuckle laced in a small bit of embarrassment. Sherlock already knew he wasn't like most people, he was no different as a child. As if (Y-n) caught on to his embarrassment she quickly confessed the same. “Neither have I…” “Truly?“ “Yes, the boys never really liked me very much.“ She frowned.
“I like you, (Y-n).“ She looked at Sherlock a shy smile on her face. “And I like you, Sherlock. Very much.“ (Y-n) leaned towards him slightly. “And, um, I'd very much like to kiss you too…” Sherlocks heart shot into his throat, and he swallowed thickly. He leaned forward and took (Y-n)'s warm cheeks into his cold hands.
Under the privacy of long tree branches and the snow fall, Sherlock pressed his lips into (Y-n)'s. It was soft and sweet. Unsure nervousness broke away into a tender euphoria. When they reluctantly parted and (Y-n) swiftly shoved her face into Sherlock's chest in a desperate attempt to hide her flustered face. Sherlock wrapped an arm around her and pulled her closer, the other hand resting the back of her head. He closed his eyes and leaned his head on hers. His heart felt like it was near bursting.
The couple stayed that way for a long moment till the fussy screaming cry of a child falling on the ice brought them back to the present. Sherlock released (Y-n) and took her hand in his. “My dear, let's go home.“ He tood smiling down at her. (Y-n) smiled back and squeezed his hand. “I'll make some tea and we can rest by the fire!“ “That'd be delightful, Darling.“
Extra!
As (Y-n) reached out to open the front door, two men exited dodging her to get into a wagon with a large empty back meant for hauling. “Thank you, gentleman!“ Mrs, Hudson called from the doorway. “Oh Mr. Holmes, (Y-n)! Come in!“ “Who's was that?“ (Y-n) asked.
“They just delivered a package for Mr. Holmes! Kind enough to help Mr. Watson to unpack and set it up, they were!“ Mrs. Hudson answered cheerfully. Sherlock took long steps, stepping hurriedly around the women and up the stairs. (Y-n) and Mrs. Hudson watched confused as he disappeared into his flat.
“Is Mr. Holmes feeling alright?“ The older woman asked. Before (Y-n) could answer, Sherlock opened the door. “(Y-n), dear, come along! I have something for you!“ She gave Mrs. Hudson a curious glance before ascending the stairs.
Once at the top, Sherlock grabbed her hand. His grip betrayed his calm face and showed his excitement. “To the sitting room.“ He said with a smile.
When (Y-n) entered the sitting room she looked around. Nothing seemed different. That was till her eyes landed on the fireplace. Instead of the usual two chairs, belonging to Sherlock and Watson respectively, there stood three. A new beautiful, ornate and comfortable looking chair was placed close to Sherlock's. (Y-n) looked at the men. They both were smiling brightly.
Watson patted the seat of the chair, holding Olive in one arm. “Come on, dear, try it out!“ (Y-n) walked to it, her hand slipping from Sherlock's. She ran her hand over the thick fabric in disbelief before turning back to the men, looking for conformation. Sherlock nodded.
Sitting, her body sunk slightly into the plush chair and smile appeared on her face. “Really? This is for me?“ “Happy Christmas!“ Watson replied with a laugh, dog in his arms giving a small bark is response. “Oh, thank you! Both of you! What a lovely surprise!“ Watson smiled bashfully. Sherlock walked to (Y-n), placed a hand at the top of the backrest, and leaned closer to her. “I made an educated guess you'd be staying here often, Happy Christmas, my dear.“
Shyly, (Y-n) placed a quick kiss on Sherlock's cheek, surprising him. “Hmm, kids these days, they move so fast.“ Watson grumbled but couldn't hide the smile on his face. He was happy for his dear friend. And he rather liked the young woman's company. Olive licked his hand. Watson was very happy to have little Olive around too.
That night, after much merry making with friends— and alcohol— (Y-n) didn't go home. Instead, she stayed in Sherlocks room and slept on his bed while the detective slept on his chair wrapped in an extra blanket. Sleep came easy, and with it peaceful happy dreams to all.
~~
The end! I hope you enjoyed, its quite a bit longer than my usual length on fic but I'm quite happy with it. I wanted the kiss to give the same innocent thrill that a childhood first kiss would have. I think its so cute when couples seem to devolve into school kids with crushes. Giggling, stealing small kisses, being flustered over everything, then like. Puppy love, ya know? I hope you enjoyed, if you did please consider leaving a comment ❤️ I always read all comments! Sorry if Sherlock is out of character but its kinda hard to write him in love...
I know it way past Christmas and I didn't get to write all that I wanted to but here's one of a couple stories I did for the @12daysofchristmas writing challenge ❤️❤️ Enjoy and Happy New Year!
Winter in Waterdeep
Day: 3
Prompt: Snowed In & Hot Chocolate
Fandom: BG3
Character: Gale Dekarios
Ship: Gale x Tav!Reader
Warnings: Slightly suggestive
Word Count: 522
It was (Y/N)'s first winter in Waterdeep. And the first with her husband. (Y/N) stood in front of a window that overlooked the city, her forehead pressed against the cold frosted glass. “Are you alright, love?“ The smooth and sweet voice if her partner sounded behind her.
With a sigh, (Y/N) turned to face Gale. He was wrapped in a deep purple house coat and held another in his arms. “Here, you looked cold.“ Gale held the coat as (Y/N) slipped into it. “I'm alright… It is just so grey out! And the snow!“
She turned back to the window and gestured outside dramaticaly. “The snow! I love snow, truly, but this? This is far too much! We can't even leave the tower!“ Gale chuckled. “Leave it to a bard to be dramatic.“ His wife glared at him and he sighed with a smile. “It won't last long, I'm sure.“
“You're probably right. I just— I had so many plans. This is our first winter together and I wanted the holidays to be special.“ (Y/N) frowned and crossed her arms. “My love,” Gale placed a hand on her cheek. “Every moment, whether we are fighting a giant brain or stuck in a boring tower with only dusty old books and a tressym as company, every moment is special as long as I'm with you.“
(Y/N) smiled, put her arms over his shoulders and clasped her hands together behind his neck. “You have a surprising way with words, Gale. Should you ever feel an lute calling your name, you'd make an excellent bard.” “Hmm, I'll leave this e music to the professionals. Besides, then you wouldn't be the best bard in Waterdeep.“ (Y/N) scoffed dramaticaly. “You think you'd out shine me? Watch yourself, Mr. Dekarios. You're in dangerous territory.“
Gale rested his hands on (Y/N)'s hips and leaned closer to her, their noses nearly touching. “Nowhere I haven't been then.“ He chuckled as (Y/N) rolled her eyes.
For a moment, they were still. The air seemed this as the couple stared at each other. Gale's eyes flicked to (Y/N)'s lips before closing completely as he leaned in and settled a gentle kiss on his wife's lips. (Y/N) held him closer, pushing into the kiss with force.
Suddenly, a loud whistle sounded from another room surprising the two. Gale broke the kiss with start before running of after the sound. Poor (Y/N) was left confused and cold.
Soon, he reappeared holding to large mugs, steam rising from them. “Hot chocolate. I actually had my own plans before you— em— ehem— distracted me.“ (Y/N) took a mug. The warmth radiated off of the clay warming her once again. “I thought, maybe, we could enjoy some hot chocolate by the fireplace while you sing or play. I can even read to you if you'd prefer!“ “Can you read to me?“ He smiled excitedly. “Of course! You know how much I enjoy the sound of my own voice.“ He jested.
(Y/N) stood on her toes and pressed a kiss to his cheek. “Then we can pick up where we left off…” She whispered coyly. “Oh, most definitely.“
🌹Short, I know but I have a long (3,000+ words) one coming out soon! Thank you so much for reading 🥂

Bilbo Baggins x Elf Reader
Word count: 2,824
This is a long one! I feel like it's cute, but I don't think I did Bilbo's character justice. I feel like he's out of character in this, but it has been so incredibly long since I've seen the movies. Still, I hope you enjoy!~
Bilbo Baggins looked on in awe at the sprawling landscape that lay before him. Rivendell. Finally, knowing his party was safe, Bilbo relaxed. Even even though many of the dwarves radiated anger.
As the company descended the long stairway, Bilbo tuned out the noise of the dwarves and focused only on the beautiful nature and elvish architecture. Soon, they came to a stop on a circular platform that was connected to stairs. An elvin man with long, dark hair walked gracefully down the stairs and greeted Gandalf.
As they spoke, Bilbo's attention was once again snatched away by the beauty that surrounded him. It was strange to him how foreign and new this place was, yet he felt right at home.
Suddenly, loud horns sounded, startling the hobbit. Soon, the horns were followed by many armored elves on horseback coming the same way the company did. Bilbo's party quickly surrounded him in a protective circle as the Elvin cavalry circled them. The soldiers parted, allowing a horse carrying an elven man with long black hair and a stern face to come forward. Elrond.
His stern expression softened as he welcomed the tired party of travelers, offering food and bed. From there, the day passed quickly, and before Bilbo knew it, the moon was high above him, giving everything a soft glow. Feeling restless, Bilbo got out of the large bed and began to wander. He quickly found his way outside and decided to find a garden.
It had been so long since he had gotten to relax in a garden, feeling safe and at peace. "Now, where could it be..." he mumbled to himself and continued to wonder till he found what he had been searching for. He stood staring into the garden, for there sat delicately on a stone bench was the most beautiful thing Bilbo had ever seen. An elven woman with long (h-c) hair and (s-c) skin sat staring up into the sky.
"Ehem, excuse me?" He cautiously called out. The woman looked down at him, a small smile forming on her lips. "Hello." She greets. Bilbo walks to her and gestures to the stone bench she sat on. "Um, May I sit?" The elf nods, and Bilbo sits. After a short silence, Bilbo looked up at the elf, who was back to looking at the stars. "I uh I'm Bilbo. What is your name, miss?"
"My name is (y-n). It's been many years since I've seen a hobbit." The elf, (y-n), said gazing down at Bilbo. "This is the first I've seen an elf... I've encountered many new things since I left the shire.“ "And why do you stray from home?" Bilbo thought of what made him leave his cozy home in bagend. "A quest, to reclaim lost homeland.." (y-n) looked at Bilbo in surprise, then smiled. "You are in the company of Thorin Oakenshield? A noble quest indeed. Perfect for a noble hobbit such as yourself."
Bilbo's face felt hot as he stared at the elf. "M-me? Noble?" (Y-n) put a hand on his shoulder. "Indeed. I can tell you're destined for greatness. And how could someone so handsome not be noble?" Bilbo was left sputtering, trying to form words but failing. (Y-n) removed her hand and gestured around her,
"So why do you, noble hobbit, come to my garden at such a late hour?" Bilbo regained his composure and quickly answered. "Oh, um, I felt restless. Couldn't sleep... Your garden?" "Well, Elrond's garden, but I am the head gardener." She smiled at Bilbo. "And, to be honest, I am here for the same reasons. I am far too restless for sleep. But when this happens, I come to this bench, and I count the stars."
Bilbo stares at the dark blue and black sky, watching the stars glitter and sparkle. (Y-n) interrupted, "Lean on me, I will tell you about the stars and their stories." Bilbo glanced at (y-n), who was gazing softly at the hobbit. Gingerly, he leaned on her side, and she wrapped an arm around him. Bilbo felt the safest he had since leaving home. The hobbit listened intently to the elf, who would point to a star and tell him everything about it. Soon, Bilbo found himself drifting off to sleep to the sound of (Y-n)'s voice and the sight of the stars.
Sunlight filtered through a window, hitting the sleeping form of a hobbit. Bilbo groaned and sat up, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. He looked around the room, confused as to how he had gotten there. Maybe he doesn't remember walking back? Or... an image of (y-n) holding him and bringing him back to his room flooded his mind. He could feel his face heat up immensely. He was sure the blush was visible, too.
Bilbo ran his hands over his face, glancing around the room. His eyes fell on a folded piece of parchment where a simple flower lay on top. Bilbo picked them up, looking at the flower first, realizing it was from a plant that grew next to that stone bench. A smile formed on his face as he tucked the stem of the flower behind his ear. With an added free hand, he unfolded the parchment, in fancy handwriting was written:
Dearest Bilbo, I hope I did not bore you to sleep last night. I took you back to your room, I hope you don't mind. Come to the garden after breakfast, let us walk together.
~(y-n)
Just then, Gandalf entered Bilbo's room. "Bilbo, I've come to fetch you for breakfast.." He trailed off when he saw the small flower poking out from Bilbo's curly hair. Gandalf clears his throat and takes a puff from his pipe. "Come along, Mr. Baggins. The company will not wait long for you." He turns, leaving the room as Bilbo races after him.
At breakfast, all the dwarves chatted loudly. Bilbo slowly ate, his mind buzzing with excitement. He thought of last night, how (y-n) had wrapped an arm around him, making him feel so safe. This made a smile appear on his face. One that, no matter how he tried, he couldn't suppress.
Gandalf raised an eyebrow at Bilbo's behavior. But before he could say anything, Bilbo stood from his now empty plate and excused himself from the table.
Bilbo tried to remember the way to the garden but kept getting lost. Instead, he sat on the front steps of the elven castle, sad he couldn't see the elf again. "There you are, dear Bilbo... I thought you were lost!" A sweet voice spoke from behind him. Bilbo whipped his head around and was met with the elf he was longing to see, (y-n).
"I was... I couldn't find my way back to the garden.." Bilbo said, looking away."I apologize.." (y-n) laughed as she gazed at the hobbit. "Worry not, Dearest. I will lead you there." She took ahold of his hand and began a short, peaceful walk together.
Soon, they approached the charming garden. Bilbo hopped up onto the bench as (y-n) leaned down to a bush of flowers. The same flowers, Bilbo realized, that she had left for him. He watched as the elf's nimble fingers twisted and braided the flowers into a small flower crown. She moved to kneel in front of Bilbo, still taller than him, and placed the crown atop his curly hair.
Bilbo felt his cheeks grow warm at the way (y-n) gazed at him with such warmth in her eyes. "A crown fit for a king, I'd say!" Bilbo smiles at her. "Quite!" Y-n laughed and clapped her hands together. "But every king needs..." Bilbo trailed off as he quickly picked and twisted flowers together, creating a flower tiara of sorts.
He looked back up at (y-n). "Every king needs a queen." Bilbo says as he gently sets the flower tiara on Y-n's head. "Dear Bilbo, you have a heart of gold." She placed a hand on Bilbo's cheek. "I am grateful to have met you, and I know our friendship will be nothing short of wonderful."
Bilbo and (Y-n) took a short walk before deciding that it was time for Bilbo to go back to his party.
(Y-n) leaned down to Bilbo's height and clasped her hands around his. "If you cannot sleep, come find me, my dear." Bilbo nodded, looking up at the elf. "Of course. Farwell, y-n."
That night, as the moon slowly began to rise, Bilbo was wandering around. Once again, lost. Deciding to rest, he sat on the ground near one of the many streams in Rivendell. Bilbo stared into the water, fixing his hair when suddenly a smiling face appeared in the reflection of the stream. "Lost again, dear Bilbo?"
Bilbo let out a stared yell and fell backward. "Oh, i-it's you, (y-n)!" The Hobbit sighed, gazing up at the elf that was bent over and staring down at him, an amused look on her face. Behind a hand, (y-n) stifled a laugh.
"I do apologize, my friend. I hadn't meant to startle you!" Bilbo stood slowly and let out an embarrassed laugh. "Uh no, no, I'm quite alright... and yes, I am lost once again." (Y-n) smiled. "It can not be helped. You have only been here two days after all. Follow me, dear."
The two started the short trek to their usual spot, stopping just a few feet short of it. "Dear Bilbo, how would you to sit somewhere else for tonight? Just further down this path is a tree that is in full bloom." The elf looked down at Bilbo."There is no bench. We'd have to sit on the ground... as long as it didn't bother you?" She felt oddly nervous asking him.
Bilbo looked up at her and smiled. "I'd love to!" A small excited smile graced (Y-n)'s face. To Bilbo, it was one of the prettiest smiles he'd ever seen.
Soon, they arrived at the large gorgeous tree, full of beautiful flowers, all of which seemed to be in full bloom. The base of the trunk was surrounded by different plants and flowers, save for an empty spot in the front. Just large enough for two people.
"This is beautiful..." Bilbo said, gazing at the scene. "I am terribly glad you agree, Bilbo." (Y-n) said as she took her spot on the ground, the Hobbit doing the same. "I have long wished to have someone to share the spot with. Perhaps that someone can be you for as long as you are in Imladris?"
Bilbo's face felt warm. He nodded and glanced at the elf beside him. The Moon added a soft glow to her every feature. Bilbo quickly cleared his throat and gained (Y-n)'s attention. "U-uhm T-this would be a great place for a picnic! Don't you agree?"
"Why, yes. Yes, it would be!" She smiled warmly down at Bilbo. "I hadn't ever thought about that before! I am lucky to have you, dear Bilbo." He shyly smiled his cheeks, feeling hot.
"So, uh, what do you do here? In this spot, I mean..." Bilbo asked. "Oh, I enjoy practicing music here." The Hobbit looked at (y-n). "What instrument?" "Any." She said, gazing at the flowers above them. Bilbo turned to face her fully. "Any? You mean, you can play any instrument?" (Y-n) gave him a tired yet amused look. "Dear Bilbo, I am incredibly old... why wouldn't I?"
"Yes, that does make sense." Bilbo says, shifting to lean back on the tree. They settled into a pleasant silence. Time sped by, and soon, it was once again time for them to part.
This time, y-n walked Bilbo to his room. "Good night, Dearest Bilbo. I will be terribly busy tomorrow, but I will find you when I get the chance." Bilbo nodded as he opened his door. "Good night, miss (y-n). I look forward to seeing you again..." He gave a shy smile before slipping into his room. However, just before closing the door, he poked his head out.
"You don't look old, you know. Not that there's anything wrong with that... I-I just mean" Bilbo took a deep breath."You're beautiful..." (Y-n)'s face felt hot as she looked at him, surprised. Slowly, that same small yet excited smile that Bilbo thought was so lovely appeared.
The elf leaned down and placed a quick soft kiss on Bilbo's head, enjoying the feeling of his soft curly hair on her cheeks. Pulling away, she gazed at him warmly. "Good night, dear." And then she walked away with warm cheeks and a smile. Leaving behind a stuttering hobbit.
The next few days sped by, and nearly every night, Bilbo bet with (Y-n). They grew closer, telling each other everything. (Y-n) even gifted him an old book and later a pipe. The hobbit felt as though this was true bliss...
Soon, it was the eve of the dwarves departure. This means Bilbo would have to leave as well. In the days he spent here, he had come to love this place... He came to love her. Since the night she kissed his head, Bilbo couldn't rid himself of the thought of the elf. He even began to dream of her.
The moon was bright, and it seemed to reflect off of everything, giving the world a shimmering effect. Bilbo stared out the window, gathering the courage to say goodbye. Soon, he left and took the same route as the first day he found the garden and sat on the same bench where he met (Y-n).
Bilbo stared at his hands that sat in his lap clenched nervously together. Soon, a light shadow covered him, and he quickly looked up. “I thought I might find you here, my dear.“ (Y-n) said gently. The hobbit stood and gestured to the bench. “p-please, sit!“ He stumbled over his words. (Y-n) laughed at his behavior and took a seat. Bilbo copied.
“...You have something to tell me.“ (Y-n) whispered, not looking at Bilbo. He looked at her then at the grass. “I do.“ a sad sigh leaves his lips. “I leave with the dwarves tomorrow at dawn.“ Bilbo looks at (Y-n) who was fully turned away from him. “I know, my dearest Bilbo.“
(Y-n) brought her long sleeves to her face, then turned to Bilbo and grabbed his hands gently. “My friend, I'm honored to have gotten to meet you and to become close. I only hope you will somehow visit this old elf once or twice. You have been wonderful company and I am sad to see you go...“ She smiles widely. “Please be safe, my dear Bilbo.“ Bilbo stares wordlessly, shocked by the sudden speech.
(Y-n) quickly stands and turns away from him. “I.. I apologize... I must go.. I will bid you farewell in the morning.“ Bilbo shoots up, stumbles slightly, and grabs at (Y-n). “wait! Please!“ He sputters. Bilbo gently grabs her hand and tugs (y-n) towards him, making her face him. He scrambles up the bench to stand a bit closer to her height, still only reaching her chest
(Y-n)'s usually peaceful happy face was contorted in sorrow. This made Bilbo's chest ache. “Please, tell me what's going on.“ Tear that had been threatening to fall finally slid down her cheek.
She slouched slightly, covering her face in her hands. “Oh, my brave and noble hobbit! I wish you needn't go! I wish you need not leave me.“ (Y-n) confessed. Bilbo gently took her hands into his, pulling them away from her face.
“I wish I could stay. I've grown very fond of this place.“ He said, looking around at the glowing garden surrounding them. “I've grown very fond of you. I wish I could stay here...with you.“ He looks into (Y-n)'s eyes. “But I want to help the dwarves. I- I can't leave them with no home.“
“Never in my endless life have I ever before felt the way I feel about you, Bilbo.“ (Y-n) confessed. “You are a good hobbit.“ Bilbo smiled at her. “But, after, I'll come back. I'll come back to you, and stay with you.“ (Y-n) stared at him with wide eyes. “If you'll have me, that is...“ He added with a sheepish look.
(Y-n) leaned her forehead onto Bilbo's. His hands shakily lifted and gently held her face. “Do you know what you are saying to me, Bilbo?“ She whispered, eyes closed. She wished to hear him say it. “Y-yes... I love you, (Y-n).“ She gave him a big happy smile that Bilbo thought was beautiful. “I love you, too, my brave Bilbo Baggins!“
The hobbit, overcome with joy, closed the gap between them. (Y-n) wrapped her arms around him, smiling into the kiss. She only pulled away to pepper Bilbo's face in small kisses before planting her lips back on his.
“I'll see you again, my love.“ She whispered. Bilbo smiled and held on to (Y-n).
“I'll see you again...“ He replied earnestly.

Moving on
Nick Valentine x reader
Word count: 1,655
This takes place about 2 years after the events of Fallout 4 and 1 year after finishing Nick's Eddie Winter quest line. The sole survivor (you) have been living predominantly in Diamond City, helping Nick with his cases.
It was raining outside. Almost no one was in the streets of the Great Green Jewel due to it. A off day, you could say. Most people were able to stay home and relax.
Days like this made (Y-n) almost forget that just outside the walls was a wasteland full of creatures itching to kill.
(Y-n) sat at an old metal desk with her head in her arms, listening to the radio playing. Nick walked in from outside, water dripping off the brim of his hat. He quickly shed his wet coat and hat and then began to make his way to his desk.
Stopping at the desk where (Y-n) sat, Nick revealed a bowl he brought in with him. “You've been working too hard. You need to eat.“ He said as he set the bowl in front of her and took a seat in the chair facing the front of the desk.
(Y-n) slowly raised her head to look at Nick, some of her hair falling in front of her face. His fingers twitched, wanting to reach over and tuck her hair behind her ear. He opted for smoking instead. (Y-n) watched as he tried lighting a cigarette a few times before succeeding. He sat back in the chair with his sleeves rolled up, relaxed for once.
“I think this is the most relaxed I've ever seen you, Nick.“ (Y-n) smiled as she grabbed the bowl of noodles and began to eat. “Thanks.“ Nick waved her off. “It's no problem.“ (Y-n) chuckles to herself. “This reminds me of late nights at the law office I used to work at. Someone would bring takeout, and we'd all sit and work. Or we'd just talk.“
Nick was quiet for a moment. “We used to do the same at the police department when we worked late.“ “Too bad we never got to meet back then. We'd have been great friends, I think.“ They both laughed lightly.
“Look at the two of us. Still stuck in a world long gone.“ Nick chuckled. (Y-n) thought about it for a moment. She pushed the noodles aside and propped her head up with her hand. “Honestly... I think I've moved on.. I mean, it still hurts to think about, and I will always miss Nate. But, I think it's getting better.“
Nick stared at her, his yellow eyes fixated on her face. “I never thought I'd say this. But me too. For so long, I held on to the feelings of a life I never physically lived. After everything with Eddie and a year to think about it...“ He leaned forward on the desk.“well I guess I should thank you.“ He finished. (Y-n) smiled warmly at Nick. “I'm glad we found each other. I couldn't have done any of this without you.“ She reached out over the desk, taking his free hand. “Thank you for taking care of me, Nick. You're a good man”
Nick stared at his hand in hers. It made him comfortable and warm. A feeling he hadn't felt for a long time. He glanced away and laughed. “Well that's what I'm here for. Detective Nick Valentine at your service.“ (Y-n) took her hand way. Immediately missing the feeling of his. She gazed at her hand.
It made her feel a bit guilty. Sure, it had been around 80 years since Nate passed, only 2 to her, but she still loved him. She'd always love him, but he's gone. She can't hold onto a ghost forever.. (Y-n) looked up and caught Nick staring at her with an unreadable expression. He quickly looks away quickly, pretending to read a file sitting on the desk.
(Y-n) looked way. She had a good guess why he was staring. They were both adults. She wasn't going to pretend that she didn't notice the things he did for her and how often he'd watch her. She was sure he had noticed how she smiled at him and how her hand would linger on his arm longer than it had to.
“Nick, do you still think of her?“ (Y-n) asked softly. Nick paused for a moment. “I do. But it's like you and Nate. She's long gone. Besides, she was never mine to begin with.“ He looks at (Y-n) with a small smile. “You helped me move on. Move on from that old life and start living my own." (Y-n) smiled. “I'm glad.“
The room was silent for a long while, and only the sound of the rain and the radio could be heard. Occasionally, the sound of papers shuffling would interrupt the comfortable silence.
“Oh, I should get back before it's too late. I still need to feed Dogmeat!“ (Y-n) said as she stood. Nick followed and put his coat and hat on. Then handed (Y-n) her coat and hat. “Thanks. Are you coming with?“ He nodded. “Yeah, I'll walk you home. “
The air outside was cold, and the rain came down in a drizzle. Nick, seeing (Y-n) shake in the cold, wrapped an arm around her shoulders, pulling her close. Though he didn't add any warmth, the gesture made a blush creep up (Y-n) neck.
Slowly, she snaked an arm around his waist. (Y-n) looked at Nick in her peripheral vision. This talk helped her come to a decision about something she had been agonizing over for the past year. She loved Nick, and she was sure that, to some extent, he cared for her, too. But in what way? Looking forward again, (Y-n) tried to fight the anxious feeling bubbling up and the blush that came with it.
Nick felt conflicted. He liked the way she held onto him. He liked her company, he liked her. Nick knew he loved (Y-n). His mind felt scrambled and loud despite the quiet environment. The only sound was the rain and their shoes landing in puddles. He looked down, focused on the ground before them as they walked.
“Well, this is me...“ (Y-n) said as she let go of Nick and slid out of his hold. She pressed her lips in a line and awkwardly searched her pockets for her key. Nick watched her with a small smile. She was always so beautiful to him. But he never even dared entertaining the thought of romance. Not with how he looked, with what he was.
(Y-n) unlocked the door and pushed it open. “I'll see you tomorrow, Nick. Get some-” Before she could finish her sentence, a crack of thunder sounded with lighting not too far behind, and the rain started pouring. Taking one look at the sky and rain (Y-n) ushered Nick into her home. She slammed the door and locked it, letting out a sigh.
They both took off their wet coats and hats, hanging them on the coat hanger near the door. “Come on in! Just leave your shoes at the door.“ (Y-n) said, walking further into the house. Nick took a moment to look around. He realised the last time he'd been here was when (Y-n) first bought it. Almost a year ago. “I like what you've done with the place. Cozy. Tell me, how is it you're only now inviting me over?“ He said as he followed her into a little living room area.
“Well, I guess I never thought about it. I feel like I spend more time at the detective agency than in any of my homes.“ (Y-n) smiled and took a seat on a couch. She gestured for Nick to do the same, which he did.
A moment of silence passed between them. A false silence. Their heads both buzzing and loud. Nick thought he was fine working with her and admiring from a far, but now sitting with (Y-n) after coming getting off work... It almost felt like they were a couple. He hated himself for feeling this way. For how flustered he was.
Nick looked over at (Y-n). Her hands were clenched together in her lap, and she had this strange look on her face. “Hey, you alright?“ She glanced at him with an uneasy smile “Yeah, yeah, I'm fine. Just got something on my mind.“ Nick turned to face her fully. “What's troubling you? Maybe I can help.“
(Y-n) was silent for a short moment. “You're good to me, Nick. Thank you.“ Nick watched her intently. She looked at him in his glowing eyes. Maybe the storm happened for a reason. It gave her a chance to come clean and tell him how she really feels. “I care about you. A lot.“ (Y-n) looked away. “Sorry if this is weird. I just feel like I've got to say something.“
Putting a hand on her back, Nick inched closer to her. “It's alright. Just. Just tell me what it is.“ Nick had a feeling where it was going but pushed it away. He felt foolish for even entertaining the idea. (Y-n) took a deep breath and looked at Nick again, slightly leaning towards him.
“Do you care about me? The way I care about you?“ Nick was speechless. He just stared at her with a blank face. “I love you, Nick. And I have for a while..“ (Y-n) gazed at him with hopeful, loving eyes. Slowly, he raised a hand to her cheek and caressed her face. (Y-n) leaned into his gentle touch.
“This all feels like a dream...“ Nick whispered. He leaned forward and captured (Y-n) into a hug. “I do... I love you, too..“
They pulled apart, and (Y-n) held Nick's face gently. She inched closer before closing the gap between them, her warm lips meeting his cool ones.
(Y-n) quickly pulled away “I-I I'm sorry! I-I should have asked!“ Nick just grabbed her face, pulling her back towards him and kissing her, a bit harder this time. (Y-n) smiled into the kiss and threw her arms around his neck.
She knew that, finally, happy days were just around the corner.
I'm sorry if he's super out of character! It's been so incredibly long since I played this game! I hope it was still a good read. I do feel like the ending is missing something, though.

With You Till The End
A Boromir x Reader oneshot
Word count: 1,023
Reader is a skilled healer and the 10th member of the Fellowship. This mixes the events in the book, the movie, and some stuff I made up to make it more dramatic. The biggest difference is Boromir lives! Dialog will be a bit different as I don't remember all of it.
Boromir stumbled and leaned his shoulder against a tree. It all felt unreal. His body felt as if it were on fire. "I have failed..."
The adrenaline left Boromir's body, and he could no longer stand. Letting out a choked sob, he slid down the tree and looked at the blue sky.
"I failed them... the little ones, my brother, my people... I've failed them all..."
"Boromir!" He quickly looked towards the voice. Just a few feet away were his companions, Aragorn, (Y-n), Legolas, and Gimli. Quickly, they were by his side.
(Y-n) gently grabbed Boromir's hands. "Boromir... what happened?"
"They have taken the little ones." He tried to sit up, off the tree. Aragorn laid a hand on Boromir's shoulder, stopping him. "Be still."
Realizing he could not see Frodo nor Sam, Boromir frantically grabs Aragorns arm. "Frodo... Where is Frodo?"
"I let Frodo go." Boromir's grip loosened and drops his gaze to his other hand, still in (Y-n)s. "Then you did what I could not... I tried to take the Ring from him."
"The Ring is out of our reach now." Aragorn reassured him. Boromir was silent for a moment. "Forgive me. I could not see it." He looks at his friends till his eyes land on (Y-n). "I have failed you."
"No, Boromir. You fought bravely. You kept your honor." (Y-n) hushed him and went to remove an arrow lodged into him.
He grabs her hand, stopping her. "Leave it. It is over. The world of men shall fall. All will come to darkness. My city will ruin..." His eyes water, tears threatening to fall.
"I do not know what strength is in my blood, but I swear to you I will not let the Great City fall. Nor our people fail." Aragorn attempts to comfort him. His words make Boromir smile. "Our people... I would have followed you, my brother, my captain... my king."
(Y-n) shook her head, knowing they were saying goodbye. She pushes Aragorn away. "Be gone. Take Legolas and Gimli. Find the hobbits. I will care for Boromir."
(Y-n) gives a determined look to her friends and holds Boromir's hand tight. "Boromir shall not fall this day! My friends... we will see you again. Now go... make haste."
Aragorn bows his head as a goodbye, and he, Legolas, and Gimli quickly leave.
(Y-n) quickly got to work on Boromir's wounds. Removing arrows as gently as possible. "Why bother... I fear your troubles will be for naught... I won't make it through the night..." (Y-n) stopped for a moment to quiet a sob.
"Boromir... please... don't say such things." Her eyebrows stitched together, and tears filled her eyes. Boromir's eyes widened at her face, how it twisted in sorrow at the thought of his death.
For a short while, he said nothing as (Y-n) worked on him. "Boromir," (Y-n) breaks the silence. "I can not treat you properly with all these layers on."
Slowly, she helped him remove his cloak, surcoat, tunic, chainmail, and gambeson. The chainmail gives the most trouble with its weight and getting caught in his long hair.
(Y-n) heart hurt at the sight of his bruised and scratched body. She carefully cleaned and patched the lesions and punctures that riddled Boromir's skin.
He let out a hoarse laugh that caused (Y-n) to look at him confused. "This is not how I imagined you'd see me without any shirt for the first time." His smile left his face as he realized what he said.
"Oh. I apologize... I didn't mean..." Boromir weakly tried to explain. (Y-n) cut him off with laughter. He felt his heart beat faster as he watched her. Her laugh was beautiful.
"Worry not, dear Boromir. I thought the same..." She admitted with a small smile. Shocked, Boromir sits up slightly, looking at (Y-n). She's imagined them together, too?
"Can you... tell me what you imagined?" She asks slowly. He laid back, still watching (Y-n) as she put the finishing touches on the bandages that wrapped around his body.
Looking up at the sky, Boromir thought back to the last time the Fellowship made camp. "Last night... You were patching some of my clothes that I had foolishly torn... I watched you work by the light of the fire, and my mind wondered."
Despite the pain that rendered Boromir practically immobile, he couldn't suppress the happiness he felt getting to tell (Y-n). "I found myself wishing to hold your hands and your face. To feel you. To hold close to me with nothing separating us... I decided that when the war was over, I would ask for your hand."
A silence followed his confession, and he grew worried. "(Y-n)?" He sits up slightly to look at her.
She sat on her knees hunched over, hands clasped over her mouth. Her shoulders shook as she quietly cried. "(Y-n)?! Are you alright?" She looked at him, tears streaming down her red cheeks. All she could do was nod as a big smile graced her face.
"Oh, Boromir... I hardly allowed myself to dream that you felt this way. I thought surely you had someone waiting for you..." (Y-n) sobbed.
"I have only you in my heart." Boromir assured her and took her hand in his, bringing it to his lips. "If... When we make it through this war, will you marry me, Dear (Y-n)? Will you be mine and I, yours?"
(Y-n) nods. "Dearest love... of course... I can think of nothing I want more..." Boromir beams. "I love you, (Y-n)."
(Y-n) scoots closer to his head and bends over, planting a kiss on Boromir's cheek. "And I love you..."
"I will be with you till the end, Boromir..."
The end! How'd you like it? Sorry if he's ooc. It's been a while since I watched lotr. Anyway, feel free to make requests!
