the concept and idea of “you can always start trying to be a better person” is extremely important to me both in media and irl and i continue to be deeply deeply disturbed by the trend on this site pushing that these ideas in media are bad writing or even morally reprehensible

because theyd rather someone stay terrible or just straight up die than become a better person 

from a compassionate point of view it’s deeply distressing and from a pragmatic point of view it’s outright frustrating

I think part of the pushback about this is the idea that, to “redeem” bad people, their victims must first forgive them for unforgivable acts.

This is false. No one is obligated to forgive you. You can learn from your mistakes and become the best, kindest person on earth, and the people you’ve hurt still won’t forgive you, and you’ll have to accept that. And that doesn’t mean you aren’t allowed to grow. Because we aren’t just “pure” or “sinful”, we’re complex.

One thing I find hilarious is that people forget that Jayce had proof of magic. That man experienced a miracle and spent his life seeking out how to recreate it. How to bring magic to the people. It was all based in proof, experience.

Viktor was the one working based on belief, in himself, and in Jayce. Viktor came at Hextech simply on faith.

And yet, when people write fic, Viktor is basically the one who lacks whimsy. Who lacks wonder. Who works entirely on empirical evidence. Like only Jayce is allowed to be awed or curious about the unknown.

Who....who are you talking about right now?

My good people, Viktor is reserved but whimsical af. That man saw a giant salamander in a cave as a child and made it his bestie. That man gets asked if something is safe and cringes or shrugs with an "Of course not." That man heard "magic" and went "fuck yeah lets go".

Viktor isn't cold, emotionally, or to the wonder in the world. So, stop it. Give him back his whimsy.

you know what haunts me? how sevika and vi are just reflections of each other on very different metals. how, in another life, sevika would've mentored vi because she would have seen that protective fire and endless resilience and it would have reminded her of herself.

if Powder was raised by Jayce she'd be buff as fuck. Like Silco got her to put all her anger into killing and masking explosions but Jayce would just take her to the forge and let her have at it.

She'd have so many messy metal creations she made as a kid cause she was bodyslamming that chain thing, trying with all her force to get her little 13 year old body to force it down while completely letting her mental breakdown out. there would be snot and tears all over the forge after that.

But after she grew up she'd totally have muscles. I think they'd be even more pronounced with how short she it. Like she reunites with Vi and Vi is like 'you're supposed to be my little sister' (she can totally pick Vi up)

This conversation when Powder hits puberty --- >

Jayce: "hey, so sweetheart I know it's hot in the forge but you're starting to develop so you at least have to wear a bra"

Powder: "but you're always in there shirtless"

Jayce: "it's different"

Powder: "why?"
