Góa is a banished dwarf, so entrenched in guilt and self loathing that she’s cast aside any marks of identity. She shuns personal braids, beads, and anything outside of road clothes. She thinks she's not allowed the pleasures of life, and denies herself companionship, isolates herself.

And then Thâri comes along and fucks all that up by being her friend (and later her lover 🥰) Thank you Thâri we love you Thâri

Thâri becomes a royal guard through her friendship with Alda. Góa is ofc invited to do the same by Fíli, much to her surprise. His trust in her, alongside the support of Thâri and the Company, significantly helps Góa realize just how loved she is. Her past doesn't define her, she is worthy of honor, of identity and growth. After the Battle for Erebor, Góa finally allows for personal marks again, and Fíli's braid clasp is her first acknowledgement of her new life.

as much as i love the idea that ori grew up with fili and kili, i also really love the idea that they didn't know each other until the quest

combine that with the headcanon that there aren't that many other dwarves their age within their community - maybe as a result of their people being outcast from their home, maybe its just a dwarf thing (low birth rate) - so when they meet for the first time all three pretty much have the same reaction which is "holy shit someone else my age!!!!" insert spiderman pointing meme here

I explained the “x before gta6” meme to my immigrant father and he, in turn, explained to me how back in his day in Romania, they had the same type of joke, except instead of it being gta6, it was about the imminent death of a singer named Gică Petrescu, who everyone was continuously shocked by because he refused to die. Every time a momentous event happened people would say, in essence: “This happened and Gică Petrescu hasn’t even died yet?!?”

So. He understood the gta6 meme immediately because they apparently had the same thing in Romania when he was young, except way, way more morbid
