When Kanda went "I'll toss aside all my anger and resentment because all that matters is being by your side" but then Alma went "I can't ever let go of my anger and resentment and hatred but I still want to be by your side" and then the story treats both of their approaches as valid and both of them do get to be by each other's side and Alma gets to die in Kanda's arms -

So, these two spend a lot of time in season 2 putting Lockon (I) on a pedestal as the glue holding their team together and the wise big brother figure, but that sands down a lot of Lockon's own rough edges that he shows in season 1... Some of which he probably would have been able to heal from if he'd had more support from the team and may have prevented him from going after Al Sachez in the season finale. And how would he feel being put on a pedestal after he's dead and can't be there to have real human flaws anymore? It's a conversation I do think Setsuna and Tieria would have at some point after they've matured and Lockon is less of a sore point.
