Some amazing book dedications:
No trust, liar.
“Being able to feel safe with other people is probably the single most important aspect of mental health; safe connections are fundamental to meaningful and satisfying lives. Numerous studies of disaster response around the globe have shown that social support is the most powerful protection against becoming overwhelmed by stress and trauma.
Social support is not the same as merely being in the presence of others. The critical issue is reciprocity: being truly heard and seen by the people around us, feeling that we are held in someone else’s mind and heart. For our physiology to calm down, heal, and grow we need a visceral feeling of safety. “

*Us after infinity war* That’s as bad as it’s going to get. it can’t get any worse than this, right?
* Us, Now*
I flat out hate people who are all “the earth would be better off without humans.” The world would be better off without white supremacy, without colonialism, without capitalism and transmisogyny and homophobia. Like, shut the fuck up. It’s such a horrible, cruel, and callous thing to say, “the earth would be better off.”
Guadagnino and Chalamet also found themselves on the same page creatively. For example, in one memorable scene from the novel, Chalamet’s character makes love to a pitted peach. Guadagnino had reservations about including the scene in his script: “I was struggling with the possibility that you can masturbate yourself with such a fruit,” he explained.
“So I grabbed a peach and I tried, and I have to say — it works,” he said, adding, “I went to Timothée, and said, ‘We shoot the scene, because I tried it and it worked.’ And he said, ‘I tried, too, and I already knew it worked.’ ”

Ok, officially the best “Call me by your name” anecdote.
I was thoroughly intimidated. The unapproachable type. I could grow to like him, though. From rounded chin to rounded heel. Then, within days, I would learn to hate him. This, the very person whose photo on the application form months earlier had leapt out with promises of instant affinities.

it’s possible for consensual sex to be unhealthy. it is possible for sex to be both consensual and bad for you. sex can manifest as a method of self harm. you do not have to feel positively about all of your sexual experiences and consensual sex does not have to be unilaterally praised and upheld. sometimes the sexual experiences we seek out are unhealthy for us, and it’s good to acknowledge that.
