Oh Billy, you look so small right there…
Superman’s sheer anger over Billy Batson’s situation is a sight to behold. Batman and Robin get away with it because he knows it’s the world’s best internship and that Bruce is willing to put out all the stops to protect him. But Billy? He doesn’t have anyone looking out for him. And that pisses off Superman more than anything.

This is a bigger deal than some of you might think, because Superman is one of the heroes in the DC Universe who keeps his secret identity pretty damn secret, because as probably the most powerful and influential person on earth, a lot of people do not wish him well - and would jump at the chance to hold people dear to him as leverage.
Yet, he trusts this poor, scared little kid. To comfort him, and entrust him with his biggest secret - just as Billy did for him.
Superman is just really important, ok?

And while he’s superpowered himself, his whole rant comes from a very personal place because if I’m not mistaken, after he landed on Earth he worked on his family’s farm, went to school, and actually did have a pretty normal childhood.

It’s been a while.
Since last I was hereabouts I received my three CompTIA certifications: A+ and Network+ by the beginning of last June and Server+ in late October. I also landed and started a job in Augusta, GA at a network support center, in January. I had enough saved to get an apartment five minutes from work, and things looked good. Then on Valentine’s Day I was run off the road by an F-350 that didn’t have time to stop for a red light or for me after she/he/they ran me up onto the high curb. I got hurt. Unable to return to work soon, I lost the apartment and moved in with my mum. (She’s not far from Augusta, though in South Carolina, like 13 miles over the border.) I’ve been in PT for my lower back since and am almost progressed enough to return to work, hopefully by November. *knocks on wood*
I’ve been reading a lot, writing a bit, fiddling with my three computer in order to stay practiced, building a Linux box on the cheap, studying more Linux for certification, and doing my PT homework.
My mum is very nice to put me up how she has, especially looking after me as much as she had to for the first three months after the wreck. I’m helping out around the place, doing a lot of the things she’s not able to reach or carry. (She’s 71.) That said, I cannot wait to be employed again and out of here -- though it’ll be a while because the first apartment and medical bills killed my savings. Her routine drives me bananas, its inconsistency in particular, and it’s partly because my being here is alien. She’s been a widow living along now for almost sixteen years and understandably set in her daily rhythm. We drive one another a little bananas, and so it’ll be good when I can achieve an all-clear from the docs to return to work, stow away some dinero, and achieve escape velocity.
So there we are.

Personal boundaries make perfect sense. It's their application that puzzles me so frequently. People rightfully want their boundaries recognized and respected. The weirdness comes when folks change them but do not say, either wanting you to get closer or move away, and it not infrequently gets even awkwarder when you ask about it and are still not told but instead assured things are okay and unchanged. Very, very, very few people know how to give the bad(?) news up front that whatever relationship has changed but are quite able to let you have it, either angrily or defensively but either way aggressively, when they can't handle it anymore. (That includes cutting you off completely because they're too angry or too embarrassed, and even if they're embarrassed they're a bit angry, with themselves but still projecting it onto you, at least for a while until they decompress and the dust settles.) Just on my mind tonight because it was prompted by someone I knew/know.

the remainder of 2016 and the first quarter of 2016 (an update)
Both relationships I had last year ended with them going back to their exes because it turned out neither were actually done with them, just taking a break after fights. Within a few weeks of their breaking up with me and going back to the exes one was unceremoniously and very publicly dumped by her ex and the other broke up very publicly with her ex. In both cases, their not-exes-turned-actual-exes were abusive, and I didn’t know this. I did not get back with either.
I almost got into a relationship with someone I’ve known a while and rather liked, but that was derailed when she told me she slept with her boss because the his wife thought they were sleeping together and wouldn’t stop stalking her on FB. So she figured she’d give them something to talk about. That was a surprise to me.
The house sold in early summer, and I lived in a decent little apartment in town for several months. In January I moved to the capitol and began IT training with Vocational Rehabilitation.
I aggravated my my old shoulder and knee injuries in late October, and so my fitness routine took a dive for a few month while I recovered. I put on twenty pounds between Halloween and Valentine’s Day. That said, I started back with the regular exercise earlier this month. Progress is slow, since I’m starting light and building back up, but it goes well.
The IT program goes well. The class is small, and it’s a nice enough group. I take Part I of the A+ certification test in two weeks. After that it’s Network+ and then if I’m lucky, Server+ in December.
I’m doing okay.
