As a reminder if you're wondering why Gundam has so many weird names for people and things, this is why.
THIS is why Tomino was able to get away with putting in so much critique of the 1970s textbook controversy (and in general, history of Japan in the early 20th century) in his works despite the genre being called, pejoratively, "toy commercials." Yes, we all know about how he had to recolor the titular robot (it was supposed to be closer to Zakus' color scheme) anecdoctally, but he was given a far longer leash for the script and the writing, not just names.
Can I be honest with yall I don't want to hear SHIT against cishets at pride this year
"But it's not FOR them!!!" The biggest military power in the world belongs to a christofascist nation overseen by a felon found guilty of 34 federal crimes and has greenlit a gestapo with more direct funding than the entire military of Canada for the purpose of ethnic cleansing. Let Hetero Jessica throw some biodegradable glitter at a municipal parade
At this point if anyone is trying to exclude anyone benignly pro-queer from a pro-queer space I'm just going to assume you're a fed or something idk like something something destabilize the movement from within or whatever
i have a story for you, tumblr. last year my coworkers and I were riding in a golf cart at a music festival passing out drinks to people, because the festival had been cancelled that day and everyone was trying to make the best of a bad situation. after some time we spot a guy on the other side of the road dressed as lord farquaad, walking alone. we yell, “LORD FARQUAAD! DO YOU WANT A DRINK??” dude yells an affirmative, walks into the road without looking, gets hit by a fucking car, and goes flying.
I really need you to picture a lord farquaad being dummy yeeted into the air by an incoming vehicle while a golf cart of inebriated, glitter and mud plastered coworkers are full-on horror movie screaming together. before we can even process this, lord farquaad gets up like 🤪 how bout that drink?? completely okay, utterly unphased, red hat and bob wig still locked the fuck in. we check on him several times, all talking over each other, and while he’s calmly and pleasantly assuring us he’s fine, he passes each one of us a tiny jesus figurine. he bestows a “god bless you all” and then resumes his jaunt, drink in hand.
after that we drove in total relieved hysterics, the kinda laughter that only happens when you narrowly avoided catastrophe. and i have NO idea if the driver that hit him even said a word because my entire consciousness in that moment was farquaad, there was only farquaad. I hope that he reads this one day and knows that he is STILL talked about and regarded as some sort of festival cryptid. we are blessed indeed
And then he died 2 days later from internal bleeding? What is wrong with you? Were there no EMTs on site? Pedestrians struck by motor vehicles must be evaluated in an emergency department set up to handle trauma.
if you want butterflies, you need to live with caterpillars.
i am not being metaphorical, i work in a garden center, stop buying plants 'to bring in the bees and butterflies' and then immediately poisoning every caterpillar that dares to consume a single leaf
you will not get butterflies if you kill all the things that turn into butterflies! what are you doing!
getting a lot of responses to this going 'ok but it would be good as a metaphor though' so I will accept a metaphorical interpretation as long as you ALSO (!) promise to be considerate towards larval forms of insects specifically and biodiversity in general, deal?

Man i feel really bad for the guy who wrote this article because the article actually manages to raise a very very very good point but the way the headline is phrased completely omits 95% of what they were trying to say
And because i know people won’t even bother to click and check the article itself i’m gonna screencap it, it’s fairly short, give it a read:
tl;dr: the article’s point isn’t “corporate satire is not funny anymore as in “we should stop making fun of corporations””, the article’s point is “corporate satire is not funny as in “it’s extremely depressing to live in a capitalistic hellhole and corporate satire aims more to poke fun at that without actually making you think about our world or giving you hope for a better future, and therefore it’s just lost its bite””
Thanks for the screencap, I did try to read the article but the ads on that site were insane.
Watching these bloopers from the 1940s is surreal. Like I guess logically I had to know on some level that they made mistakes? But seeing it is something else 😂
Humans really have always been people.
i've never seen most of these before! always love finding new old bloopers.
grug dont have to change!
It hurted so much 🤕 .......
rummaged through old folders and found some stuff I never posted 👀
They are adorable <333 I love strong women and pathetic men :D
if your animal is lying on the floor, furniture etc, it’s important to take a picture of them. then, if they move or shift in any way, it’s important to take another picture. with this technique, you can take many pictures of your animal
Muši Ráj — Butterfly Paradise
I’ve seen this variously translated from Czech as bird’s paradise, butterfly paradise and flycatcher—made from straw, paper, and sometimes dry fruits it was magical and said to represent the sun the stars and the world. It was traditionally hung over the table or cradle.
Wheat/Straw/Grain crafting Czech style 🤯
i keep rotating it in my mind that the veilguard Conceptualization of slavery is like
slavery is bad, and therefore, the majority of the population knows this, and is against it! and slavers are extremely obviously and exaggeratedly evil, and will be using their slaves as human furniture, so you know that it's just needless cruelty for the sake of it. and this is all in the context of the Redeemable Democratically Reformable Empire, where the average people at the bread markets (we are not going to question who bakes the bread or harvests the wheat or grinds the flour) are nice. so therefore slavery is not actually intrinsically tied to the economy, it's just this evil act that people do purely bc they are villains.
however. if you blood magic bind solas and use him as a sort of forcible battery to hold up the veil.... that's fine, bc it is actually for the greater good to support the continued existence of the bread markets. even though this should actually be considered as enslavement or forced captivity. which is even sadder if you consider that he was the most anti-slavery character in the games up to that point.
so then the conclusion incoherently becomes like... slavery is actually ok, as long as it can be justified as being in other people's benefit(?) and the person being held against their will is Problematic and Not Nice To You(?). putting my head in my hands and lying down on the floor and rolling myself down the street like a tumbleweed.
please write the paper ;0; i would read it ;0;
Let's go snooping!

med people are so annoying "This family's 8 year old child who was about to go through a major surgery and kept crying that she was hungry so they pitied her and gave her food, she then had a heart attack in the surgery. They're so stupid 😒" girl they didn't know that could happen or why it happens. it takes so little time to explain to them that will happen instead of telling them "no food" with no explanation 10 times
"Before surgery, your body’s reflexes that protect your airway are relaxed by anesthesia. If there’s food or liquid in your stomach, it will near certainly come back up and go into your lungs, which can cause choking, a severe lung / heart infection or even a heart attack. That’s called aspiration, and it is life-threatening. It's hard, but it's only a single day to prevent near certain death. Not eating or drinking beforehand massively lowers the risk and helps prevent these life threatening situations under anesthesia." <- TIP: patients have brains which allows them to receive information just like you
I have four kids. I’ve had one or another of them need some kind of surgical procedure that requires anesthesia four or five times over the past 15 years.
This Tumblr post is the first time someone has explained to me *why* I couldn’t feed them before those instances.
I’m not stupid. I understood that just fine. Hell, my kids would have understood that just fine. But no one bothered to tell us.
i did know this before having kids (i have six). we have a kid that's needed multiple procedures requiring anesthesia. and every single time, i am asked multiple times if i'm sure he was not given any food or water after a certain point.
every single time i have had to say, "i understand that if he had food or water, he could aspirate it into his lungs under anesthesia. i am not lying to you." THEN someone would make a little note and i would stop being repeatedly asked.
not a single time was that risk explained to me. the only reason it came up was because i already knew. i still don't understand why it isn't standard pre-op counseling or pre-op check information, when me as a parent acknowledging the actual risk also put THE MEDICAL STAFF at ease because i conveyed that i had informed understanding as reason to not lie about giving my kid food.
"maybe some people will get nervous and refuse surgery" okay so they need more counseling about risks and anxiety, not less information in a way that actually does endanger their child or themselves!
yes but also you're an adult: ask the question before the day of surgery. They'll say "the kid will have to fast for about six hours before surgery and cant have any water for 4" (also depends on the age/metabolism. They need an empty stomach) and then instead of thinking "well they clearly just want my child to suffer even more" you do the adult thing and ask "why does my child need to fast?". It's that easy? Also several different people will ask you that on the day of, and if one can't explain, just keep asking
part two of that is to Trust The Fucking Surgical Nurses! If you are told to fast your child and there is no opportunity to ask then, maybe expect they have a reason and do it anyway? Paediatric staff are the least likely doctors to fuck you around because you have to be so so careful with kids. They're like horses in there, desperate ro break all their bones and spontaneously keel over dead.
This is so weird to me. Didn't anyone on this thread ever had pre-op meetings where you sign all the paperwork and talk about the procedure? I had one of those a few weeks ago for my surgery.
This is also as far as I know considered common knowledge.
If you sign the papers, read them before and ask questions if you don't know. The doctor went over them with me, and even highlighted the most important passages. Thats what those meetings are for. Its why it says that you understood the papers right above where you sign them. The doctor will believe that you understood what you signed and that you will do what is asked of you in them.
And if you didn't have the time/forgot to ask at that meeting, you can just look it up. Ask a nurse. Call a doctor and ask. Have a little bit of self sufficiency as an adult, especially if you have children.
