Happy Valentines Day! I haven't drawn much personal art for myself in a bit, so it felt fitting to draw some cute Valentine's themed art with my OCs. 🥰 I was inspired by the pastel rainbow colours of Valentines heart candies for the colour palette, I wanted to do something different than my 1st instinct of making everything ultra red/pink, which I'm glad I did! I was also inspired by that one Georgie Porgie rhyme where the kid kisses others while smeared in jam, which is totally something Marty would do to Nicky LOL 🤪 I really enjoy making cute art, it always lightens up my day~ 💘👨🏾❤️💋👨🏽🍫

Happy New Years Eve! 🎉 2022 was a difficult year for me. My personal life had been upended and quite frankly, ripped apart by several tragedies during 2022 and 2021: I got covid in January, which wrecked my health and gave me fatiguing complications that I'm still dealing with 1 year later; I cut off some friendships that I believed would've lasted a lifetime, but unfortunately turned out to be deeply destructive and toxic for me, forcing me to let go; and of course getting heartbroken by all off the world's constant downspiral into reactionary violence and oppression. I went through some things that I thought would've been the worst things to ever happen to me, and they were. But I survived them all. I can't believe that I went from being terrified of dying painfully in January to speedrun accomplishing so many goals I've had for years (make a zine, learn animation, personal life milestones, etc.) by December...on top of running my very first school club!!! I'm exhausted, but I am so fulfilled from all that I've completed. It's hard for me to slow down and appreciate the work I've finished instead of rushing to the next big project, so I'm trying to get better at that and cool down. While I definitely have more ambitions to accomplish in 2023, I think the best thing I can do for myself is to chill out this new year. Thank you all for the support, and a special thank you to my new peers at school I've met! 💖

Background art and some frames I like the most from my moon rabbit animation! I've been leaning into a more impressionistic style for background art lately, to help myself into actually getting them done 😅 I was going for a midnight skyline, like Shanghai and Tokyo, that would glow in the distance brighter than the actual stars in the sky. I definitely want to do more background and environment art in the future as I have a lot of ideas for the setting of my moon rabbit world. 🐰🌙✨

At long last, my final Lunarian animation project finished!!! I worked so incredibly hard this semester on my biggest animation project yet. It’s amazing how much I learned in the span of a few months, from not knowing anything about Toonboom or basic animation skills to finishing this entire production. I had a lot of help from my teachers and encouragement from my peers, I am greatful for their support throughout this wild journey to get here! :3

My 1st and final storyboard animatics for my Lunarian final animation! I did MANY storyboard drafts over the months, with it evolving so drastically from my 1st to final versions. Seeing them side by side wows me at how much time I’ve spent on this project. :3

Dialogue mouth movement animation drafts I did for the base of my final Lunarian animation! I had no idea what I was doing (as with the rest of this project lol) but I did get gradually better at understanding mouth movements with the help of my teacher. Music credit goes to ZUN: “White Flag of Usa Shrine”.

Treadmill walk cycle I made as a base for my final Lunarian animation! This was the most challenging draft animation I had to do, I spent SO much time correcting it ;^; It turned out great though so the work paid off!

Character turnaround and model sheets for my final animation of this semester, starring my Lunarian creature! This character design changed so much in just the span of a few months, as you can see in these pics. You’ll see more changes as I release more art of this project in the following week!

Art assets and the background I drew for my gay fish puppet rig animation! While I liked rigging my puppet, admitedly I had zero idea what I was doing trying to animate it...😭 This project was a trial run on learning rigs for my final project and though I don't totally like how my fish animation came out it was a great learning moment for me. My biggest motivation to finish this was to make everything ✨slay✨ And yes...it is exactly what you think is in the sand HAHA 😈🍆🌈

My final storyboard project starring my creek angel character design! Since the story is based off of Keaton St. James' poem "july in appalachia", the storyboards tell the story. I wanted to capture a sort of macabre yet warm feeling in my boards, something that first intimidates you but once you get to know that feeling, it turns into familiarity. Ink painting is always calming for me to do~ 👼🐠🐸🩸

Making a separate post about the details of my printed zine and what it looks like! BIG shout out to the Digitial Outprint Centre and the Communication Design Studio for helping me make this zine real and so polished!!! It was a HUGE learning curve making this zine and I spent most of my spare time working on it this past semester. It's surreal how my zine actually physically exists now, I've really wanted to make one and I finally did it 😭💖 I have limited copies of this zine availible, so get one quick at Emily Carr's Student Art Sale on Nov. 25th - 27th! 🎁

Some exciting news: I'm selling prints and zines at my school's Student Art Sale, happening Nov. 25th - 27th!!! This is my first ever time not only participating in Emily Carr's SAS, but selling my own artwork! This past semester has gone by in a flash, I've worked harder than I ever have and now I can finally share about this accomplishment with everyone! 💖
