You've said before you think DDLC is a terrible subversion of dating sims. Why is that, and what would a subversion look like?

It's not a subversion, because the appeal of anime dating sims is being wanted by girls who are extremely out of your league. They appeal almost exclusively to losers.

Look me dead in the eye and tell me Monika subverts that with a straight face. That's not subversion, it's a creepypasta game that appeals to a different fetish.

So an actual subversion would be one that denies the player of the main fantasy of a dating sim (being appealing to women) and then sits and makes them think about that.

There's a bit from Yahtzee's review of DDLC that funnily enough hits a much better premise

It happens regardless of what choices you pick, which in itself might be an effective premise for a game about depression: constantly reliving the same few days trying to save her and failing every time because her problems are too deep-seated to be fixed just because you accidentally felt her up on day three.

This is, unironically, the only good part of DDLC, and the only part of the game that is itself subversive because no matter what you do you can't save this girl because her problems are bigger than you, stock anime protagonist.

But that's also pretty damn heavy, so here's an idea I just came up with on the spot for this ask, complete with terrible title and all.

Your Girlfriend Fucking Hates You - You play as a stock VN protagonist long after the dating sim is over and your relationship has, to put it bluntly, fucking rotted like crazy. Your girlfriend doesn't bother to hide her contempt and dislike of you, and it's clear she's on the verge of leaving.

So over the course of 7 days you have to salvage your relationship. Bring out all the romantic stops to try and bring the love back into your life. And the player can figure out why it rotted so badly in the first place.

The cause was largely the protagonist viewing "getting a girlfriend" as the end-point with no thought toward maintaining a relationship. He expected of his girlfriend all the things some dipstick weeb expects of their anime waifu and, shockingly, she wasn't happy about that.

The concept would be the game has 7 endings, 6 bad and 1 good. The trick, however, is that the good ending is completely unobtainable because the protagonist's girlfriend can see this desperate flailing for what it is. Even if you do everything correctly, that doesn't make up for 3 years of absolute horseshit. She's already made up her mind. She's leaving on Sunday regardless.

Your lovebombing isn't going to work because your girlfriend fucking hates you. The good ending just sits there in the ending list and your Steam Achievements, forever unobtainable.

Anyway that's not bad for someone I pulled out of my ass at *checks time* 2AM

the way MOST stendy/stan x wendy fans are just stan fans/stan defenders/sympathizers who dont actually care about wendy at all and only cares about her for the sake of stendy lowk tells ALOT about them. the reason why alot of stendy fans only sympathize with stan is because if they TRY to sympathize with Wendy they also have to admit the fact that wendy is better off without Stan, and, obviously stendy shippers wont admit that because they only care about Wendy when shes convenient (such as when it comes to being Stan’s girlfriend) and I will stand by that.

Seen alot of mfs complain about people not separating Craig and Tweek from eachother, but never people not separating Wendy from Stan, This links in homophobia and misogyny. What I said is more of a problem because Craig and Tweek actually have a more stable relationship unlike Stendy. People who do this don’t actually care about people not separating Tweek and Craig from eachother, they just want to find reasons to hate on gay rep, and I will stand by that aswell.

Seen a stendy page post a video, about the “Follow that Egg!” video, that “the way Stan’s too scared to be partnered with Wendy but wants nobody else partnered with her either” ?? Dude imagine how tired Wendy is. That same page also makes ALL of their stendy videos sympathize Stan and NEVER Wendy.

No, I am not those “Wendy-hating Style shippers” just because I dislike Stendy, I dislike Style aswell and Wendy is my favorite South Park character myself.

I laugh to myself when a Stendy fan assume all Style fans are misogynists, but not talk about how MOST stendy shippers only care about Wendy when it comes to being Stan’s girlfriend.

Like yes! A female character is totally not important and uninteresting at all when she doesn’t revolve or be associated with a male character! 😅

I can tell already that I'm going to see some rancid takes about the end of last night's episode, so here's a friendly reminder that the ONLY people who are responsible for this rise in antisemitism are the antisemites.
