Someone using a truth against you to harm you does not make the truth any less real. It just makes the person using the truth against you an ignorant or disingenuous/dangerous person.

What does this mean?

It is a truth that it is okay for trans women to have facial hair. Facial hair is morally neutral, it's okay if a trans woman has it.

If you personally do not want your facial hair and are struggling with it, and someone says "Well it's okay for trans women to have facial hair!!" in response the issue is NOT with the statement "it's okay for trans women to have facial hair". The issue is with the way the person talking to you and how it is completely ignoring your emotions and dysphoria in an unhelpful, ignorant at best / malicious at worst manner.

It is a truth that it is okay for a trans man to not go on testosterone. HRT is morally neutral, it's okay if a trans man does not want to seek it out.

If you personally want to go on testosterone but are struggling to access it, and someone says "Well it's okay for trans men to not go on T!" in response the issue is NOT with the statement "it's okay for trans men to not go on T". The issue is with the way the person talking to you and how it is completely ignoring your emotions and situation in an ignorant at best / malicious at worst manner.

Not only this, but multiple potentially conflicting truths DO exist.

It is simultaneously a truth that trans people as a whole are pressured not to seek out gender affirming care and a truth that not all forms of gender affirming care are for every trans person.

The important thing is that everyone is allowed to opt in or out of that care in an informed manner. What is life saving for some is going to be neutral or completely unwanted for others - there is no perfect way to accommodate all of those experiences, but there are still informed ways to account for many experiences.

That begins with recognizing that the weaponization of a truth does not make the truth itself inherently harmful. Look more closely at the person wielding it against you, rather than take it out on the truth being used as the weapon.

Fascinating how what's considered feminine and what's considered masculine can change over time. The rebranding of being a horse girl into being a stereotypical feminine girly trait needs to be studied.

Look at classic children's novels. As recently as the 50s and early 60s, being obsessed with horses as a girl was depicted as strange and tomboyish, and the very concept of being obsessed with horses from early childhood and loving toy horses and desperately wanting your own horse being a "little girl thing" and not a "little boy thing" would send someone from the 1800s and earlier into a coma.

i wrote a paper in my masculinity studies class in college about this exact phenomenon, specifically about how high heeled shoes started as a practical way for Persian cavalry to keep their feet on their stirrups, then likely due to that association, became a popular fashion item and status symbol among the upper classes of Europe, before the Great Male Renunciation of the 18th-19th centuries, when men started shunning opulence in favor of utility, leaving them as a fashion item for women instead.

I've joked that the two genders are Aesthetic and Utility before but thats just kinda the case

We have got to stop framing our oppression in ways that promote the idea that other people cannot relate to our struggles. Not only does it isolate comrades in the struggle, it actively diminishes recognition of other struggles--often including those even more horrific than what we are at risk of. And this happens especially between Gay and Black struggles.

"when have straight people ever had to check what states were safe for them?" Sundown towns are still a thing. Starlight tours. What states have abortion access? What states have open carry? What states have stand your ground? What states have 3-strike rules? Women, people of color, disabled people, immigrants, and more have had to be abundantly cautious where they travel to. Straight trans people have much more travel risk right now than gay cis people.

It's a new iteration of the same tired question: "imagine if straight people weren't allowed to marry" interracial marriage in the US is younger than my parents. We disgrace people of color by forgetting their history and contemporary struggles, and we abandon queer people of color, Black queer people, by segmenting their overlapping fights.

i was training a young person at work, and she referred to sexual assault as "SA" out loud, and i immediately was like, "no, it's sexual assault, call it what it is," bc idgaf if the algorithm overlords have taught y'all that you should fear direct language, how tf do any of you expect to ever address real issues with any amount of seriousness if you can't even say the words? imagine an advocate looking a sexual assault survivor in the eyes and asking "did he grape you?" it's absolutely fucking absurd, but these young interns and new hires are coming into an environment where we deal with survivors of all different kinds of abuse, and they're coming with the mindset that the words are as bad as the actions, and that makes them shitty at the job and look juvenile af
