i should take them more seriously

hum in accordance to it

but i laugh instead

brittle and cruel to an old woman

“you think I don’t know that?” i tell her

a thousand other have walked this same path

and left me reminders of its brutality

the damn dirt here is stained with their pain

and bloody footprints are easy to track

i am young and i am angry

violent enough to smash something

human enough to cry afterwards

all this emotion

“does it go away?” i ask her.

“no it lingers,” she says.

but sooner or later you’ll realize

you can’t do much with split knuckles

The next house sigil in my mandala/zentangle game of thrones series, the mighty Martells! I definitely enjoyed making this, especially because the sun and spear allowed for a lot of wiggle room in terms of designs. And I’m always happy to honor the Martell house, home to my favorite bisexual oberyn martell ;)

No one knows how fleshy you are. You make it a point to whip at all the sensitive things you keep captive in the sharp break of your throat. Reminding them of their place. They’re just close enough to the roof of your mouth that their heartbeats could taste the oxygen. You entertained the thought of releasing them. It’s a comforting notion, but futile. You learned long ago to keep yourself buried beneath bone. The soft and weeping soul of you locked down between strings of marrow as if they would hold. As if the world had no problem with shattering femurs and other insignificant things.

I’m an Aries if you can’t tell. Anywho, I’m thinking I might want to do a zodiac poetry series, something that’s been on my mind for a while. I think I’ll just go in order from here since I’ve already screwed up going by the month, since I posted this one first. Alas I hope you enjoy it.

“snap shot”

hey yall! i was asked to do a “quarantine self portrait series” by my theater group from school (shoutout Microtheater@NYU!). ive never really done self-portraits, so this was a fun experiement. some duct tape and tiktok tutorials later..,...,here’s the final product! 

in case you want to try this out yourself: i did this in my tiny a$s apartment bathroom with the snapchat camera lol so anything is possible. i took a white sheet and duct taped it to the wall (eventually my mom held it up when the tape failed). for the spots, i took an old picture frame, removed and cleaned the glass, painted some spots onto it, and placed it in front of the camera (thank you, tiktok!). the photos are edited with VSCO (sue me).

So a couple weeks ago I took an art class on Zentagle patterns and Mandala making and ended up with this? Not something that normally signifies a Mandala but now I’m making these nerdy little pattern things, starting with of course the wolf sigil of House Stark from Game of Thrones. It’s not perfect, but hey you gotta start somewhere. Hopefully I can do all the major GOT houses :)

hi y’all! hope you’re doing well. through this photo series i wanted to document how the coronavirus has disrupted the most mundane of tasks, like my family’s typically simple laundry routine.

my studio art professor this semester said that this global pandemic is a specific historical moment we are living through, and asked us how we are each “laying claim” to this specific moment— how are we each leaving a trace of our own particular experience (especially as artists and creatives)? so i leave you with the question i’ve been asking myself for a while — how are you laying claim to this moment?

This poem is the first in a series inspired by my love for marvel and the avengers in particular. I plan to do a poem for each character in the MCU (which is gonna talk a while) but I want to do it, and these characters are one of the easiest things for me to write about! Surprisingly, being the Steve Rogers sucker I am, the first poem here is inspired by Mr. Hawkeye himself. Clint, this one’s for you :)

about the natural things

in and below my stomach

i am no longer little

and i would have a man touch me

with intent

i’d rather he be dark

like sap is

like honey and syrup

seeping out of a black tree

something to lick up and savor

to pass back between tongues

thicker than saliva

i want him wolfed for me

bright with the desperation

between a hunter and his beast

a twisted love made in twilight

where i can see his eyes 

from the shadows eating me up 

like ants would

fiery and spirited and rapidly

yet efficient

in taking all doe-eyed babes apart

it’s methodical the love

he would give me

in that i am only what he would want

if i prayed hard enough for it

and maybe then

he would undress me slowly

and eat out my hips that god said

are for childbearing

Pilar’s “20 Random Facts About Me”

Winter is my favourite season, specifically, New York winters.

I’ve been playing bassoon since middle school (but I haven’t picked up the poor thing in a hot minute).

Im an Aquarius (best sign ofc).

(((But on that note, nothing but respect for my lovely Virgo moon))).

I’ve been wanting to go vegan for a super long time!! (still hasnt happened.,…im working on it.,.,will keep you updated).

I am absolutely addicted to matcha lattes.

I make a new playlist for each new month! I’ve been doing every month it since June 2017.

My favorite color is purple (best color ofc).

I am currently trying to regrow some green onion using its little scraps.,.,.will also keep you updated.

I absolutely LOVE going to concerts.,.,it’s my weakness (and seeing Hozier with D was one of the best concerts ive been to, hands down).

Im almost convinced im lactose intolerant (but cheese is just so good.,,.,).

I am watching Avatar the Last Airbender for the first time ever and I 110% would want to be a water bender (or maybe an earth bender….or maybe air….).

I can fall asleep anywhere (in high school, id fall asleep standing up picking clothes from my closet in the mornings.,.im sleep deprived I know).

On that note, I am an absolute night owl, but low key trying to be more of a morning person.

I LOVE spicy food— bring on the spice! (I feel like at least a quarter of this list has been about food,.,.and im not mad about it).

I love all things clothes, fashion, and makeup (and making all these industries sustainable and queer and Black, Indigenous, PoC centered!!!!).

My favorite musical is probably In the Heights (I cry when I listen to the soundtrack every. single. time.).

D and I watched nearly every Marvel Cinematic Universe movie in order, together, because D loves them and I had never seen them before.

I can speak very basic Chinese and am learning more!

I’m allergic to mosquitos (I get big welts when I’m bitten).

I almost died in the lazy river at the Atlantis Resort Bahamas and I have the scar on my foot to prove it.

I cannot stand mayonnaise.

The first anime I ever watched was Dragon Ball Z.

My favorite book is The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller.

I played viola for nine years (and to this day can only read music in Alto Clef).

I hate going to concerts (but I did go to a Hozier concert with P a couple years ago and it was awesome even if I almost had a panic attack).

My top five comic book characters in order are: Captain America, Winter Soldier, Batman, Iron Man, and Red Hood.

When I was little I had an actual army of Schleigh collectable horses (most of which are packed away into moth eaten boxes in my basement).

I have a horrible nail biting habit.

I sucked my thumb until I was six years old (complete with the resulting overbite).

I’ve never left the Western Hemisphere (farthest I’ve been away from home is California). 

I’ve held a real live turtle egg in my hands!

I’m the most Aries who ever did Aries.

My favorite color is yellow (something only five percent of people in the world share with me!).

I wanted to be a marine biologist up until I realized I’d have to do math.

I have emetophobia (fear of vomit, no it is not fun, especially when I am sick).

Besides english, my favorite subject in school was history (particularly anything roman, greek, medieval).

If I were to be force-sensitive I would absolutely be a Sith. The dark side is more fun.

My favorite word is “petrichor” (google it).
