For everybody wondering about the characters' ages, according to the novel Kim, Porsche and Vegas are all the same age, Kinn, Time and Tay are a year older, and Khun (and Tawan) is three years older than Kinn. Chay and Macau are younger but I don't have a clear grasp on their ages. So if they're keeping the age gaps while aging everybody up:

Kim, Porsche and Vegas are 23

Kinn, Time and Tay are 24

Khun is 27 (and Tawan)

kinnporsche thoughts because i can’t help myself

ok so, what interests me is the multiple times in ep 4 and 5 where Porsche offers Kinn power, but in return requires a little vulnerability from him. And Kinn simply baulks at it.

im usually not one to leave a reply on someone else’s post but tumblr literally wouldn’t let me put this in the tags because it was too long so apologies op 😭

but this says So Much about pete and his loyalty to himself

both kinn and vegas have hurt porsche and pete in their own way (kinn with the r*pe and vegas with the abuse) and they both try to make up for it but there’s such a distinction to how that goes between pete and porsche.

porsche is hurt and upset in ep 6 about what happened in ep4&5 but ultimately he let’s kinn off easy. forgives him as soon as they’re out of the woods and enters a relationship with him soon after that. and that’s just porsche god bless him. he’s overflowing with forgiveness and seeing the best in people always. and he’s so new to this world and its dark corners that its easy for him to forgive and forget.

but that is Not pete. pete who grew up in this world. pete who knows his worth. pete who knows first hand exactly what abuse looks like. vegas asks him to start over and pete knocks him out and escapes instead because he KNOWS when he’s been wronged and he knows what he has to do. that he has to do right by himself. and sure it kills him and it hurts and its painful but he is so steadfast in this belief that he doesn’t falter even when he thinks of vegas. even when vegas comes to find him at the bar he pulls his gun on him and tells him to leave. even when he sees vegas again at the coup he shoots him and beats him up and is ANGRY. even when he talks vegas down at the pool he’s still angry. demanding for vegas to give him what he wants and what he deserves, to SEE HIM.

and its only in the after credit scene that we see him soften to vegas again (tho we still get no confirmation that he’s forgiven him)

and you can argue that its the same here with porsche because porsche forgave kinn after kinn was shot, after he almost lost him. but the distinction that kinn got shot SAVING porsche and vegas got shot as part of the coup is HUGE. because maybe porsche forgave kinn BECAUSE kinn took a bullet for him. because he felt like he owed him. but you can’t say the same for pete at all. pete is only there because HE wants to be. because he’s following his fucking HEART and when his heart told him to leave vegas he did and when his heart told him it wanted vegas he obliged.

like GOD i could just talk for hours about the strength of pete’s character. he goes through life with such clear cut conviction in everything he does and yes his life has molded him to be that way but its truly a STRENGTH for him and he holds so so true to it. vegas asks pete to start over and pete says fucking NO! YOU HURT ME! and i’ll only forgive you I feel like it! we get to start over when I say so!! and i love him for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ohhh, guys. I just had an inkling.

By now, we all know how this show loves to work with parallels, how everything important comes back in one way or another, how they evoke associations through the repetition of certain words and actions by different characters.

In the last three episodes, they did this with Vegas and Kinn; we had the homoerotic first aid:

The kissing of the hand:

Both of them wanting to start all over with their partner:

Even their..."style of apology" is similar 😅:

I'm sure there's more, these are just a few examples off the cuff.

We also know that there's going to be a big battle in the final episode, a shootout between the main and the minor family, as it seems. Vegas will be there. Pete will be there. It's going to be dangerous.

And what happens when love and danger collide in this show?

Self-sacrifice.

Sooo...you see what I'm getting at? Because I feel like there's a good change that we get a final (survivable) instalment of the human shield trilogy.

It would even be at a somewhat "similar" point in the relationship between Vegas and Pete as back when Kinn took the bullet for Porsche: both Kinn and Vegas realising how terribly they hurt their partner, both trying to make them understand how sorry they are.

And it would make perfect sense for Vegas, right? Showing Pete how much he means to him, how much his life is worth (to him) by protecting him with his own body, taking the (physical) pain for him - after causing so much of it.

[That way, they could also bring the blood types back - I'm an 0 too, so I know that Pete would be able to give blood to Vegas (ignoring the rhesus factor). And how bittersweet would that be. But that's just an afterthought.]

Anyways, this is my wild theory, my prediction for episode 14. Could be complete BS, could be a fanfiction I'm accidentally writing in my head. 😅

Let's wait and see what they'll really throw at us.

I think I just need to say this about Porsche's fighting style.

Porsche has adapted competition level Taekwondo and underground boxing into beating up fighters/thugs. I can't speak to Taekwondo but in kickboxing, the highest points you can garner are kicks to the head. I would assume it's similar. So throughout his former years of training, that was what he was driving to achieve. Almost like his default setting, it's where he feels comfortable. Foot to head.

And people do have key/signature moves based on style and all of Porsche's rely on range and distance (for his beautiful legs) which, funnily enough, mafia men don't like. Mine and Porsche's styles are very similar that's how I know that the reason we see him struggle is because you need speed to get your legs up and to be hitting the person with your foot and not breaking your shin. Distance gives you time. Porsche has been forced into a lot of close combat situations as I said and as much as people might think not, you have to fully extend your leg (wheelhouse/hook kick) to get the full momentum to drive the kick. There are whole drills dedicated to fish kicks (kicks that go under the guard and aim for the ribs [5x5s: 5 left, 5 right, do it 5 times for speed]) and speed switching between roundhouse to the head and to the side.

What I'm trying to say is Porsche is excellent at what he does. Only, no one cares. They close the space, they hem him in. He isn't anticipating his opponent enough. He is, as we saw in ep 1, used to "arriving" and being the most skilled and relying on his abilities to carry him through. That was his issue with Kinn, he kept getting caught in Kinn's range and he couldn't get out. He couldn't employ his style of fighting but had to on the fly adapt to Kinn's and that led to biting.

With Pete, this flows better. Ultimately Porsche isn't trying to hurt Pete. They trade blows quite easily. Pete does what Porsche doesn't, which is mix up the range and tries to anticipate Porsche but we also see Porsche enter that closed combat space. He is learning.

It's funny because when we prepare for matches and our approach, sure there's the basics of what you need to do physically, but it's actually about the mental prep you do and that's told like a chess metaphor because you need to be mentally thinking three moves ahead from where you are.

Porsche at the beginning of the series is very much a pawn, chaotic and all over the place. In his fight with Pete, he moves with a surety of his place, not only in his style but his righteousness and his place as the queen. He approaches and circles, that's how he catches Pete. He is learning and we see it in his style. He's acclimatising to his environment.

Porsche's losses before were never a symbol of a lack of skill. They were a symbol of a mental lack. He lost the internal chess game. He has been immersed in that world now, he knows the rules and he can apply them to the board. Kinn and Porsche in that respect are two sides of the same coin (oh a Merlin reference); that's why they work. They both understand the game.

Close! As you see, it’s actually A Treasury of World’s Classies. You can buy the whole set at Walmart or AliExpress if you like lol. Actually it’s the exact same (fake) book as the one laying flat, just in a different color. It looks like they either covered up or rubbed off the gold detailing on the front cover of the gray one somehow to make them look different.
