|| voice in the crowd – closed starter for @mutepeasant During his youth, Ergo was vehemently taught the mantra ‘Idle processes do not benefit the Corpus’– meaning, more or less, that time for oneself was always time wasted… And while he did believe the phrase ‘time is credit’, he also knew the dangers of ‘the crunch’ and had too often felt the effects of ‘burnout’. Every day, he’d have to break himself out of his old conditioning to allow some time to relax. His favorite breaktime activity… was to bring a cup of whatever his workers were serving that day and go out to the Relay’s concourse to go peoplewatching. Over the course of his break, Larunda had become oddly busy. More and more people were visiting the Relays every day– A steadily increasing rate of Tenno, friendly Ostrons, and more recently, members of the Solaris colony. He could usually pick his own Perrin out from the crowd easily enough, but lately it was becoming harder and harder…

Amongst the wandering clusters of Tenno, Ostrons, and Solaris members, was a lonely Zephyr Warframe. The Warframe appeared quite small due to their rather timid stature, a rather uncommon trait amongst their kind.

They always hated visiting the relays. Too many people gathered in the one place. At least out on the field their job was clear: slaughter any Grineer and Corpus who got in their way. There was no need to worry about manners or etiquette or small talk or... any of those sorts of things.

But at the relay it was different. Always fretting about whether or not they were behaving properly, or who was watching them, or who might try to talk to them. It made their head spin! And now they couldn’t even remember why they’d come here in the first place. Only that they didn’t want to come here for this exact reason.

The lone Tenno managed to shuffle over to one of the columns, just to step away from the main foot-traffic. They looked as hopeless and pathetic as a lost baby deer, and stayed there for some time while they tried to recollect themselves and their thoughts.

Why did they come here again?

The tension in his posture didn’t ease any when the thing before him raised it’s hand. He got the point, and took his finger off the trigger, though he didn’t lower the weapon.

“What are you, what do you want?” hopefully whoever… whatever this was could understand him. Understand him and not just shoot him first.

 He could hear things moving out of sight, but they didn’t sound like the Midra, that meant this thing wasn’t alone and he had no idea what was out there and he was quite possibly running out of time to get out of here.

“…”

Backs up slowly towards the pod and reaches in, never turning his back on this thing. Not even as he reached in and pulled out an odd wedge-shaped device, which seemed to magnetise to the back of his armour.

Now that was a language they recognised at least. But the zephyr looked a bit stumped at how to answer those questions. Their helm tilted downwards briefly to glance at themself. What they were should have been fairly self explanatory. As for who... That was never really something they’d put much thought into...

The Tenno made a little gesture with their weapon, demanding he step away from the pod. Also pointed towards the ground briefly, they wanted him to drop his weapon--

There was suddenly a yell from the edge of the crater. A Grineer Lancer barked at them and fired a burst down upon them without hesitation. The shots absorbed into the Tenno’s shield and dotted the area around them. Nevertheless the Tenno swivelled and rapidly fired back, quickly dealing with the interruption.

More alerted barks from behind the crater. The Warframe dashed forward to make a grab for the newcomer.

Their time was up. They had to move. Now.

A series of panicked and distressed emotions invaded the Cephalon’s consciousness. It startled her, the lights aboard the Orbiter dimmed and flickered in response. This was certainly cause for alarm.

     “Operator? Is that you? Are you in Trouble!? Ohh Kaema knew this was a bad Idea. If only you listened to me!”

The roiling amber storm would certainly make approaching the Tenno to safely extract them difficult. But she couldn’t do nothing!

     “Dispatching the Liset! Ohh I hope it gets to you in time, Operator. Please stay safe.”

Alad knew this Warframe– He’d written about its type before… and he saw the wind coming, but his own fascination was also his downfall. Holding his hand out, he generated a thin shield from his hands– but only at the last second. The force of the wind alone was enough to instantly dissipate it, sending white sparks flying as he staggered back, but he couldn’t catch his balance in time. He fell to his knees, but he didn’t consign himself to defeat. He had this Warframe in the palm of his hand…                               …If he had to work for it,    so be it.   He pushed his hand out once more, as if to summon some hidden strength, then pulled it upwards. MOAs began to rise from chutes on the floor, moving their cannons left and right, scanning for a target. Behind them, Alad pointed forward, and gave them a command–                            ❝ Capture it !   Capture that Warframe ! ❞

A volley of laser shots cascaded towards his prize as he staggered back up to his feet to watch.

Their shields absorbed the initial onslaught of lasers, but they wouldn’t last for long, they had to do something. A vortex of air currents surround the Tenno suddenly, redirecting the projectiles away from them to give them a chance to recollect themselves.

There’s a shimmering glint of metal alloy that cuts through the vortex. Sharp, deadly kunai embed themselves into the rows of MOA. Sparks of electricity fly out of those hit, circuits cut and signals interrupted, the robots crumple to the ground.

They couldn’t see a way out of this. It seemed like they had no choice but to face him, at least until reinforcements arrived. Eyeing the man across the room and raising their kunai ready to throw across that distance.

With a flick of their wrist they let the blade soar.

platforms  used: Mainly only with my closest friends on Discord these days, after switching over from Skype. But I’ve done Tumblr RP before. And Years before that I used to use a private Proboard Forum. And started out on an old virtual pet site through DMs.

MUSE  PREFERENCE  !

female  or  male: I can do both easily enough.  But I generally prefer writing male muses... people can be really gross towards female muses...

least  favorite  face(s): What? You mean like faceclaims? I never use any at all unless I draw it myself. Tho I’m not a fan of the anime face claims, real person faceclaims are also kinda weird... If ur muse is a canon character and you can get screenshots or whatever, thats probably best. Never use someones art without their permission ok.

multi  or  single:  Depends. For OCs that have a backstory and other characters heavily linked to them I’d say multi. But for a Canon muse or if it’s generally not needed just a single muse blog works better and keeps things from getting out of hand. I prefer single but... -looks at current blogs-;;;

WRITING  PREFERENCE  !

fluff  /  angst  /  smut:  Uhhh all and none. I refuse to write smut in public. Angst can be good, I love hurting my characters, but I also tend to get really in their headspace and... unfortunately get quite depressed myself if it carries on for too long. And fluff? I mean yeah? It’s nice? But can get boring if that is all. Mix it up a bit guys!

plot  /  memes:  Minimal memes please. It gets messy and folks tend to mistake jokes for canon a lot of the time. When RPing with new people I generally just improv until I get a better feel for things. I might plot a little if we’re good friends but I generally don’t like to make huge plans, mostly just little goals to reach bit by bit and whatever happens inbetween happens.

Nothing came flying out. But something fell out a moment later. A figure tumbling out through the settling dust, landing heavily on its back and wheezing.

“fu’pi… ii’ev’g m’ha o’hi…”

Jax rolled onto his front, muttering and cursing under his breath, whatever language he was speaking rolling out at startling speed. Of course the fucking pod had landed upside down after that hell ride, that sounded just like his luck. He picked himself up and started dusting himself off, then he saw it. There was someone else there with him, and he could hear alien sounds now he was out in the open.

His hand flew to the pistol at his hip! Bringing it up sharply to point at the strange figure in front of him.

What the fuck was that thing?!

The Tenno had been around long enough to understand to be wary of any lifeforms that simply fell out of the sky. This one was no exception. They could not recognise the design of that armour anywhere. Not bulky and primitive enough to be Grineer. And while the sleek appearance fit a little closer to a Corpus design, they had not known Corpus to ever wear such armour when they could send their proxies to fight in their place. Not delicate or intricate enough to even be of Orokin origin. But perhaps... Was this a Warframe? Could he be another Tenno?

That garbled alien language rather dashed their hopes though. They didn't understand a word of it. And when he drew his own weapon, well, that was a wrong move.

The Tenno's grip tightened on their weapon. Getting into position to fire on him. If he fired first he would have to get through the Zephyr's Shields before he could harm them. They still held the advantage. But there was one more thing they could try.

Their other hand raised slightly. Slowly. Just out to the side of their hip where the signal wouldn't get lost against their body.

     Wait.

Ordis was flustered.

”Ah –  you’re right. The Operator is strong. They’ll manage – or FACE A GRU͑̓ESO̦͕̜͔͂̊̈́̋ͤͤͅM͎̥̈̃ͤE DEATH – but mostly they’ll manage. Yes.”

His sorrows forgotten - or as forgotten as they could be, the Cephalon was a real worrywart - Ordis regained his previous enthusiasm, his rings glowing bright and wobbling as he spoke.

“Ordis is elated to have met you, Cephalon Kaema! It has been so long since I have met another Cephalon who doesn’t want to either consume me and my Operator with an infested horde or try to dictate my every move and take me away,” he chimed. “Truly, what are the chances!”

     “Then it would seem it is a good thing Kaema has not met many other Cephalon before now. That hardly sounds pleasant! I calculate the chances at 14.28 percent."

She seems to be dwindling. Running out of Smalltalk for the other cephalon.

     "Not that Kaema is displeased to have met Ordis! Of course! Scans show that Ordis' ship is free from any signs of infest-... Oh my. That can't be right."

A quiet beeping on the results of her scan signalling that the other orbiter does indeed show signs of carrying infestation.

The pod wasn’t quite like anything the tenno had seen before. No corpus or grineer trademarks in design, and no sign of any infestation. No, whatever this was it was new. 

All seemed quiet in the crater for a moment, then shuffling could be heard from inside the pod, but the windows were too dirty to see through, covered in soot and dirt from the entry and the crash. Still, something was very much alive in there, and as if to prove a point, a muffled voice could be heard through the reinforced metal, though the words couldn’t be made out.

The sounds of grineer advancing could easily be heard getting closer to the site. Whatever this was, it seemed everyone wanted a piece of it. 

click click click… biip!

Tiny blue lights on the edge of the pod’s door lit up at the sounds and a sudden hissing followed, little jets of atmosphere releasing from the pod. Then the door exploded off! Flying over the wall of the crater and kicking up another cloud of dust.

The Tenno flinched and ducked away from the suddenly propelled hunk of metal. Twisting quickly to see where it went, deciding if it posed any further threat to themself. Startled grunts and yammering of approaching Grineer could be heard over the other side of the wall where it landed. The shuffle of weapons being cocked and aimed quickly. At least that might buy them a few more seconds of time if the Grineer were distracted.

They turned back to the strange pod and braced themself in case something else came flying out. Furis pointed at the opening as they crept forward a few more feet.

Being relatively slow sucked really, she couldn’t void jump in fear of being questioned. Voxx has always told her that if another Tenno didn’t recognize what she was, to just keep a low profile. She was sure trying her best at least.

By the time the girl caught up to the Zephyr, she noticed that the room was cleared. How… Far along did Voxx go?? Voxx normally waits around for her at least so she doesn’t get lost. She took cautious steps forward as she tip toed over corpses.

Voxx always made an effort to go out of her way to mention of weak and frail Patel was in comparison to others, yet she always does this when she decides she didn’t want to wait for reinforcements and when Patel wants to go cath up Voxx just decides to bounce and press on-

The young girl yelped as she felt a hand on the back of her shirt. She glanced over her shoulder quickly, only to relax and huff.

❝ Voxx! You know how easily scared I am. ❞

The young girl grumbled, being put down by the Mag Prime who was leaning against the wall right next to the doorway.

❝ Sorry sweetpea, saw the opportunity and took it- oh. ❞

The frame glanced up slightly, seeing the Zephyr that accompanied Patel. Oh, so this is who she was talking about.

❝ Apologies for startling you both, I’m Voxx. I’m… Patel’s W- ❞

A sharp nudge to her side. Voxx was about to reprimand the girl before catching hint. Ah.

❝ I’m Patel’s guardian. There’s still some Grineer up ahead if you wanna warm up those weapons of your’s. ❞

Once again the Zephyr spooked at the yelp. Jumping and turning to point their weapon at the attacker. No harm shall befall their escort--

     Oh.

This must be the other Tenno Patel mentioned. They lowered their boltor again, and their shoulders drooped. Voxx looked awfully strong. The Tenno turned their head to survey the scene around them, the throngs of dead Grineer were more than enough to prove that.

Turning back to the other Warframe and cocking their head, the Tenno looked her up and down. They'd never met another Tenno like her before. Not that they'd met many Tenno at all. In fact they rather avoid any and all interactions they could with others, aside from slaughtering Grineer and Corpus grunts whenever the Lotus ordered.

So even if they could speak back to Voxx, they wouldn't have a lot to say...

A simple nod of the head and with her permission, the Tenno ran ahead and leapt onto a of the piles of crates. Best to get back to what they knew how to do, rather than floundering around with a conversation they knew they would struggle with. They crouched down and pressed the assault rifle to their shoulder. Shortly after there was a bright flash as the weapon fired, raining darts down upon the Grineer assault team coming their way.

The Grineer grunted and howled, their numbers dropped before they could scramble to return fire back at the Zephyr.

The Plains

Kel did not watch them as they readied themselves. He knew that it could throw him off badly when he was under scruiteny, so he busied himself with checking those in the basket, seeing if there were any particular types he should try for more of.

He normally would have moved, leaving the tenno to their fishing alone, but a part of him wanted the company for a time. He couldn’t spend his life avoiding poeple entirely after all.

His optics turned to focus on the water around to the side, watching the fish there glide through the water so effortlessly. It made him think of the landing craft. Simlple and elegant. And so he waited, letting both the other tenno and himself get used to each other’s company for a moment as the sky continued to darken overhead.

With his attention focused elsewhere, that gave the Tenno some time to breathe and calm their nerves. Setting their focus back on the eel. Yes. It was still there. They hadn’t lost it yet.

Training their aim for the slippery fish, they pulled back their arm... and launched the spear-tip into the water! A satisfying whir as the cord cast out at high speed, jolting and falling slack as it struck true, and the Tenno jerked it back just as quickly.

Hand outstretched to catch their wriggling prize. Prying the eel off the sharp prongs and holding it up to examine it. As thick as their arm, and equally as long too. Honestly rather on the small side, considering how big these things could grow. But the Zephyr Warframe bounced about on the spot excitedly, Only too pleased that they didn’t completely screw it up.

They turn to him and hold their catch up for him to see.

The glare of the midday sun danced off the ocean that touched on the shores of Eidolon, almost serene apart from the grineer camps along the shore always clattering and grunting away as they worked to set their position on the plains.

High up above, something punched through the atmosphere, leaving a blazing trail behind it as is crashed down to the water, skipping across the surface before it smashed into the shore. The object loosing speed as it rolled and bounced, leaving deep ruts in the ground with every contact. Finally it came to rest at the bottom of some stones that jutted from the ground like huge gnarled fingers.

As the dust and debris settled, a small shape came into view, a reinforced grey pod, scratched at dented from the impact, the windows cracked, but still somehow holding.

The grineer camps were abuzz, and there were only few in Cetus who had missed the sight.

     “Tenno! An unidentified object has just landed outside of Cetus. We need to find out what it is and if it poses any threat to the Ostrons nearby. Make your way to the site as quickly as possible. Proceed with caution.”

The Tenno was already staring up at the smokey trail that had fallen from the sky, and the cloud of dust and debris rising from the earth when The Lotus’ voice cut through.

Fishing would have to wait. There was never a break for long when it came to this place.

Granted they already had half a mind to investigate the crash before the Lotus gave the order. But now they were speeding across the plains, hopping and bounding towards the large plume of smoke. They had to get there first, before the Grineer, as disorganised as they were, managed to send out a troop of marines to claim whatever they could get their dirty hands on.

Following the deep gouges in the earth, they come to a stop at the top of the small crater this strange pod left behind. Furis drawn cautiously as they approach, slowly, feet sinking into the freshly upturned soil. They cock their head to one side.

     What is that?
