We go another Outlast Trials oc?
I get really bored of how many people in the Outlast Trials community on other platforms act like being freaked out for the Prime Assets is ruining the fandom.
I've been here since Outlast 2, and Outlast as a whole has always had a undertone of sexuality. Outlast Trials is definitely more on the nose with it with both the dialogue and the things you see and do in trials, but it's always been here.
Even Dr. Futterman is freaked out, come on guys.
this dude…

Hello SAILOR. Outlast Trials oc?? Prime Asset??
His mask is attached to the collar and locked on, only the higher ups at Murkoff have the key xoxo.

Am I the only one who thinks people that believe the "Dutch got a brain injury" theory missed the point of RDR2?
Dutch was desperate, both to stay in charge/respected, and to get money and get the law off his tail. He was always like that, even early on, it just didn't show until later. Especially after Hosea dies and there's no voice of reason anymore.
His unwillingness to change and the fact that he's a selfish man willing to give up on those he's been close with for years directly parallels Arthur in a way.
Ok.

The significance of us as youth clinging to the idea of a strange eldritch horror acting as a father figure to those like us and imagining it wisking us away into the forest to live with a motley crew of misfits and freaks is not lost on me.
Saw a "hot take" saying thr only reason people marry Shane is bc they have a savior complex.
Like no. He has a married voiceline where he kisses you then comments you've clearly been snacking on pizza rolls and THAT is a man after my own heart.
I kinda hate the implication of a "savior complex" because it's implying that the player alone is the sole reason Shane got sober and didn't commit suicide.
It's like...Could you imagine? Spending several years struggling to cope with a poor home life (Shane remarks his childhood wasn't the greatest and he didn't have much of a family prior to Jas and Marnie), trying to get over your friend's sudden deaths (Jas' parents), suddenly becoming a single "parent" (he's Jas' caretaker), dealing with financial issues (working at a dead end minimum wage job), being an alcoholic.
Then, when you finally go to therapy and work to fix these issues or at the very least learn to deal with these issues better, people claim that SOMEONE ELSE DID ALL THE WORK FOR YOU? I'm sorry, who's choice was it to go to the hospital after the cliff scene? SHANE. Who talked to Harvey about going to therapy? SHANE. Who books his weekly appointments? SHANE. Who's the one going to these appointments? SHANE. Who's the one dealing with withdrawal symptoms? SHANE.
The farmer didn't do shit. We just gave him reassuring words and someone to confide in when things got hard. I especially don't like the implication that one person can be solely responsible for another's mental health / substance abuse issues because it blames the friends and family members for anything that happens to the person that is struggling. It implies that the reason someone took their own life / overdosed is because nobody cared or tried hard enough to "save them". Do you really think that people who have lost loved ones to those things dont already beat themselves up over it? They'd give anything to have that person back.
The whole "Ooh, you're just nice to Shane because you want to fix him" thing feels so heartless and cruel in this context. Since when did wanting to help your friend / lover with their addiction make you a person who only helps people to look good? Is the concept of being kind really that alien to you people?
THIS TAKE IS EXACTLY WHAT I MEAN. Shane is so much more than just an alcoholic that the farmer "saves" and implying that to be the case is an insult.
Yes we as the farmer boost his morale to change, but we as the player do not do anything to stop his alcoholism. And you can even see that when you marry him and have his final heart event where WE and MARNIE assume he's off drinking alcohol, but he isn't, he's drinking Jojacola and is offended we even thought to think he was drinking alcohol because HE knows he has been making progress.
I love Shane regardless of being an alcoholic and it isn't because I want to "fix" Shane. That's like looking at Kent and only liking him because you want to "fix" his PTSD. That just isn't how it works.
