She takes the blunt and inhales with a small, almost sheepish smile. When she rolls her eyes, it’s with a playful air. Only once she’s selected her next words does she exhale the smoke. “They call you the freak, right? Maybe they make ’em extra freaky in California, ’cause from what I’ve seen, you’re just kinda dramatic.” The blunt is passed carefully back to him. “See, they’re stuck at the beginning of The Wizard of Oz, and they don’t know what they’re looking at when they see you, ’cause you’re way ahead, all Technicolor.” If anything, her own loud fashion choices are a more apt comparison to the film technology. “They’ll catch up eventually, but for now, it’s…” Her hand angles from side to side like a seesaw. She shrugs. Analyzing someone isn’t the best way to make a good first impression.
Eddie’s grin widens when Cherry takes the blunt with no further prompting; makes her cool in his eyes. He laughs a little, nodding his head with a dramatic roll of his eyes, “Yes, they call me the freak, and maybe I lean into it, because they’re a bunch of fuckin’ country bumpkins in central Indiana who don’t know shit.” He stops for a second, looks at her with his brow slightly creased and that smile alive on his lips. He likes the way she speaks, the metaphors, the way it flows. “I guess you could say we both fit into that box.” He says. “We’re in Oz, they’re still in Indiana.” Eddie takes the blunt and takes a hit, looking at her like she’s something to figure out, still smiling though -- something in the eyes. “Go on... I’m listening... and not the least bit offended.”

“okay, but you’re not hear-ing meeee.” eddie replies in that sing-song way he has as he steps down a little closer, watching her as she expertly lines a wire up that he loses just as soon as it’s pulled taut. whoever her target is doesn’t stand a chance.
he moves in closer then, drops to a squat in front of her, in front of the line. “i’m not saying you need supervision -- you’re obviously fine on your own.” he gestures broadly to what she’s currently doing, never mind the shit she’s got up to the other days of camp. he thinks she’s a genius, really, would be an asset, but she’s fighting against harrington’s team.
“you fuck with one of his, you’re fucking with him, and you really don’t want to do that. as ‘cool’ --” eddie holds up two fingers on each hand then, making quotation marks, “as he is, he’s also a counselor who, ya know, follows the rules.” he gives her a look then, sighing as he straightens back up. “i, personally, think camp would be duller without deviants like you, berman. just make sure nobody gets... seriously hurt.”
*just randomly leans over to give him a smooch*
Dazed. That’s what he is, even though this isn’t the first but the latest of many dozens of kisses Steve has given him. It doesn’t matter, hasn’t changed the fact that Eddie goes a little weak-kneed when it happens. He just looks at Steve with that dopey little grin, “Can’t resist me, can ya?” He teases, his eyes glinting bright.
@mvnsons is one of the sweetest people I’ve met in the ST rpc, and their take on Eddie is unique and our interactions have been genuinely heartwarming, both on the dash and over discord. The care and thoughtfulness and respect they have taken in portraying Eddie as a transman in the ‘80s is also personally something that I appreciate. They’re a wonderful Eddie, and I’m loving getting to know them better as a friend, as well.

Don't mind Steve stepping up behind Eddie, arms wrapping around his waist, and just hiding his face against Eddie's shoulder.
Eddie’s still not used to it, his body straightening at the contact at first before softening all at once, almost like every molecule in his body is leaning into Steve -- like a sunflower reaching for the rays of the sun. “Hey.” He says, twisting his head to look at Steve’s face all smooshed against his shoulder. Eddie’s smiling. “You alright?”

Mentally, she’s pretty sure that she needs to keep arguing. The idea of someone paying for anything always gives her anxiety, makes her skin crawl in a way that she has to force herself into ignoring. Vic is pretty sure the fact that this is Eddie is the only thing keeping that feeling from being quite so prevalent.
“Shit, alright, fine,” she lifts her hands in a gesture of mock surrender, something intended more to convince herself to not argue than anything else. “This one time, but you’re on thin ice, Munson.”
Eddie has no idea, of course, how it makes Vic feel to have someone pay for her. If he did, perhaps he wouldn’t offer. But he can’t help it, has some cash for once and feels like spending it. It’s burning a hole in his pocket, like it usually does, and that’s just the way he is... always looking out for everyone else. It makes him feel like a better person, like a better friend.
“Alright, nice.” He replies, and he leans down a little to bump their shoulders together before jutting his chin toward the nearest door, propped open to let the cool air into the sticky halls. “Van’s parked in the back, be easier to ditch that way. And I promise you can buy next time.”

“I don’t know if coming around is really how I’d put it.” No, there were quite a few reasons he had decided to get into Dungeons and Dragons. For one, he really did want Henderson to shut up about it, and quit bothering him to play. They rarely ever needed replacements now, what with Will having moved back to Hawkins and constantly being happy that their little nerd game had continued. But Dustin always liked having Steve around, and now that Steve and Eddie were ‘friends’ he didn’t see why the older male wouldn’t just cave.
Two, he constantly chauffeured those little shits half the time anyways, so it just made sense. Sometimes he wouldn’t have a Family Video shift, and instead of sitting around and feeling lonely in his giant house with his parents gone, it made sense for him to sit around and watch the nerds do their thing. Which went entirely over his head, which made it so he desperately needed to learn something. Sports? He could do that, easily. It didn’t take long for him to catch on to athletics, so maybe this would be the same?
But the last reason, and the nail in the coffin, was his stupid newfound feelings for Eddie Munson. Eddie and his ridiculous theatrics, and his stunning curls, and those beautiful fingers that danced over the guitar. And as Eddie tossed an arm around him, Steve found himself blushing in a way he never did around girls, and he hoped it came off as him just feeling ridiculous asking about this game he had been avoiding for what felt like forever.
“Right right, okay. Well you’re probably going to have to be really patient with me, because if you didn’t know this, I apparently have one brain cell.” A snort, gently shrugging Eddie’s arm off his shoulder, crossing his own. Comforting himself in a sub-conscious way. “Also I noticed there’s math involved, and that wasn’t really my strong suit at Hawkins High.”
Eddie can’t believe he’s really, truly living in this moment – with King Steve asking him to teach him how to play Dungeons and Dragons. It’s only Eddie’s favorite thing, even more than music the images and scenes and characters in D&D occupy his mind. It’s why he’s been do distracted from school – all his time and effort goes into creating these campaigns for the other freaks in Hawkins. Hell Fire is his life blood. And Steve wants to be a part of that?
His heart is thundering, a runaway train coming down the line.
It’s warm and comfortable, having his arm around Steve’s shoulders, and if Eddie notices the flush to the other guy’s cheeks, he definitely doesn’t think it’s anything but embarrassment. That’s something Eddie can work with. Everyone in Hell Fire has been made to feel cheek singing levels of embarrassment for some reason or another. For Eddie, it’s nothing. He doesn’t even get embarrassed anymore. Well, unless you count that time Steve took his shirt off.
“You have no idea how many people I’ve taught this game to, do you?” Eddie asks, and his eyes are sparkling brightly with the force of his mega-watt grin. He’s not even offended when Steve shrugs his arm off – he was probably crossing some invisible line, probably being too much, which was something else he was used to, something else he shrugged off, like water off a duck’s back. Eddie is torn, suddenly, between telling Steve how much fun this is going to be for him and acting like it’s going to be a burden. How can he even pretend?
“It’s not complicated math, it’s definitely shit you can do, so don’t worry about that aspect. It does require getting creative, though, you got that in you?” With the things Steve has seen, Eddie can’t imagine it’ll be that hard to come up with the fantasy elements required. “And thinking on your feet -- which I know you can do.”
