And— dare I point out the obvious— the policing of these public areas historically was and still is a huge element of police brutality and discrimination against gay people. Undercover cops frequently patrol areas that are known cruising spots and initiate with men so they can make an arrest when the guy reciprocates. They will also arrest men who are seen looking at each other over the urinals in these spots. Or for peeing while wearing a rainbow wristband.

it sucks how easily people can ruin something for you☠️ i used to like the concept of illi mcmillin and i thought it was a fun thing to interact with and take part in but ever since people online decided to run with me “looking like illi” (which i never once said lol) it has grown to become a concept that annoys me so much. and i hate that!!!!

when i first started getting the comments about it i was flattered bc i knew it was a form of compliment, i even joined the community for it here and posted my cosplay & some outfits people were commenting about it on because i thought it could be a silly one off thing. but ohhh my god it’s gotten so out of hand now and it totally destroyed any affection i had for that character :/ it’s to the point where i don’t even interact with the comments about it anymore lmao i literally go out of my way to ignore them and only like the comments unrelated to it

and my biggest fear this WHOLE time was that people are gonna start labeling me as one of those people who thinks they look like someone and makes it their whole personality. but thats not me!!! i’m just posting in my clothes to songs that i like about things that i like. i cant control what other people comment about me!!!! there have been so many times i considered just filtering the word illi out of my comments but the sole reason i’ve left them is i’m not about to have people coming online and saying i’m delusional. i will leave the comments right there for you all to see how much i deal with it every day!!!!!!

idk everyone talks about the try hards who attempt to look like their favs but no one ever talks about how annoying it is to be on the receiving end when you’re just living your life. i’m a white person with black hair SO WHAT?! i feel like i’m fighting for my life every day so as to not appear like one of Those People but i dont wanna have to just stop publicly enjoying a band i like to make it stop. and i mean fuck not even that works because i get comments about it on videos not even related to said band at all!!!!!

whatever this is just a big long rant because i’m frustrated that there’s probably people out there who see me like that. i try to shut it down on my story from time to time but i dont wanna talk about it 24/7 because 1) then i WILL look like i never shut up about it and 2) THATS NOT WHY I HAVE MY ACCOUNT!!! i want to just post about the things i like, whether it be a band, or movies, or dolls, or whatever. i shouldnt have to limit how i can enjoy something just because people might get the wrong idea because of how i look 😐 and if i say this points towards the bigger misogyny problem in the fanbase then i’m too woke… i have to deal with misogyny enough every single day in the field that i work in (luckily i dont experience it much in my circles but it absolutely is a larger issue and i will inevitably run into it). i don’t want to have to deal with it in one of my interests too lmao.
