mxrp is down for restructuring. we’re not sure when she’s coming out of the oven, but until freshparp is up, i’m making another one of these lists.

dreambubble.xyz — built off of oldparp code. forums here. did you know you there’s a dreambubble status checker now? there’s also a live data tracker. hex is the coolest.

cherp.chat — paragraph-style rp, derived from cherubplay, which is defunct now.

rolechat.org — i still haven’t used this site, fairly sure it’s a roulette site with few parameters.

roled.org — very similar to cherp, but it's got a live feature not unlike parp, as well as a group chat feature.

@roleplayrematch has an open ask box but i don’t know how active they are now.

you can find official updates from @mxrp-official-steve and @0xeff. there’s an official discord server. dreambubble has an official guilded server. you can find the source code for the site on this github right here.

MXRP RE-BUILD BETA IS LIVE

And as you look upon the body, you hear something you didn't expect; a heartbeat.

THE BACKER-EXCLUSIVE BETA IS GOING LIVE! PHASE 1: GROUP CHATS

The ever-powerful Hex has finished up all we need to launch the initial beta of the MXRP 2023 REBUILD in all its (unfinished) glory. As stated before, though; this phase of the beta will be primarily focusing on group chats in order to test chat functionality, stress test network connection, and gauge reception to the new stuff we have cooking. It will also be exclusive to those who backed the original Kickstarter, the previous Patreon, and the CURRENT patreon prior to this post going live. Once I hit post on this, I'll be shooting all of you your beta codes. Slowly. (Because there's a lot of you and I have to do it one by one).

THINGS TO NOTE:

As the site is still in dev, pretty much everything you see is subject to change. The visuals aren't final (we've actually discussed something internally that we're not ready to speak on yet in regard to this, but I'll announce if we end up doing it), the settings menu is a little sparse, etc. In one weeks' time, I'll be posting a survey to collect feedback for me and Hex to shovel into our slavering maws and guide our hands going forward.

As this is a functionality beta, several features are currently a little fuckity wuckity (don't work). These include:

Quirking

Chat User editing (IE, acronym, name, color, etc). Site admins can change someone's defaults if they really, absolutely need it. It's a top priority to get patched in after the beta starts though.

Kicking (Kind of redundant, and the logic is weird. Hex is getting to it later)

Bbcode does not reflect live in the editor, but it does render in messages.

Certain parts of the new in-chatbar formatter don't work right (Blockquotes, etc)

The beta will also be updating periodically, as Hex will be patching features in as we go along.

TL;DR There was an unbannable user (due to either site glitch or some kind of exploit) that was going into group chats and yelling slurs, harassing people, and just generally being the kind of nuisance we REALLY needed to ban.

We got his IP and banned him after a patch to the site let admins see IP addresses next to posts. He then instantly swapped to his phone, getting banned, restarting his phone to swap IP addresses, and doing it again. So we blanket-banned his IP range to keep him out. We won't be making exceptions on this, at least not on DB. (Newerparp is gonna have accounts like mxrp though, so we won't be carrying it forward to there. We'll just ban this guys account when he has to make one to be a shit)

They did not ban all Californians from Dreambubble. They blacklist all of the IPs that T-Mobile/AT&T uses for mobile devices in California. And you can have your IP whitelisted by Hex. It was to stop someone saying some really just awful stuff in group chats that was for some reason unable to be banned in the traditional way. This is also temporary until DB has accounts. And will not affect MXRP.

i wasnt active in the homestuck fandom let alone the roleplay scene when parp was around, i just discovered dreambubble last year by happenstance when browsing the homestuck reddit. i met someone whos been doing this for SEVEN YEARS and im like. God damn i was in my freshman year of highschool when you started doing homestuck roleplays. TEACH ME YOUR WAYS.
