Could someone give me some tissues?

Guess who just going on a trip with mates for the first time in about half a year, and now sitting and crying with a friend in the back seat of a car because they just watched Red White and Royal Blue and our lives have changed dramatically, and the people in the front seats can't understand why we're laughing and crying alternately?

Yeah, me.

This is definitely my comfort movie. I'm sad, happy, desperate, inspired, amused, emotionally exhausted, completely changed, and moved – all at the same time. It's not quite the state of complete personality change and disarray that DPS left me in, but oh my god now I'm going to be rewatching every day for the next month.

and... oh, no, I can't say anything more. I'm crying and I didn't bring any tissues. I'm in love.

How does appearance affect how we perceive a character? (we'll take Cameron as the main character)

Cameron. A character disliked by many.

I won't define here whether he was good or bad, because he was neither bad nor good, but how his appearance in visible on how we perceive him. Because his appearance have matters.

Like Neil's appearance makes him look nice and open, Charlie with his raised eyebrow and ironic smiles looks like... well, just Charlie, and the same with Cameron.

I think it aren't t a really diffrent thoughts, because its meaning of films – the appearance and behavior of the actors are supposed to show the nature of their character, but here it's especially important, because Cameron lost a lot because of it.

Let's be honest – I think a lot of us saw Cameron and immediately thought, oh, stiff, snitch, nerd – before he even had a chance to do anything. I don't believe everyone stopped liking him only after Keating had problems. No, it started before that, probably during the scenes in Neil's room. Why? He not done anything yet, what can you hate him for, right?

OK, let's start from the beginning.

The first thing that we see is the red hair. And here I would like to point out – I'm a redhead myself (although not as red as he is) and I often joke about it, after all, you have to have some distance to yourself, but in my life I have heard a lot of uninteresting, stereotypical opinions about my hair color. And that I am mean, that, watch out, I SNITCH ON SOMEONE, and on top of that Im a witch. Well, maybe every country has its customs, but I have come across such opinions and it seems to me that Cameron's hair color is not a coincidence (yes, I know, Meeks was also red).

High forehead, serious, focused face, straight posture – say what you want, but it DOES have an impact. A very big impact.

I don't focus on his behavior, which also sends us signals about what he's like (e.g. tearing out a piece of paper with a ruler, reluctance to join a society for fear of being caught, etc.), but on the fact that we judged him before we even got to know him well. Why?

Because he was presented in a very stereotypical way, which affects our subconscious. And unfortunately, Cameron, who is already not perceived in the best way, loses out on this even more.

Today is one of those days when I have no strength for anything and I am full of doubts whether what I am doing makes any sense at all. After all, the road to my dreams is so long... maybe unnecessary? Maybe I will not succeed anyway? And if so, at what cost? Why try, fight, waste time?

And then, one after another, I heard two songs by my favorite bands (apart from Queen and Maneskin). Here my favourite fragments:

(It's about a conversation between the son and his mother, who has cancer and is dying, but these fragments sound like something Neil would like to say to Todd 😭😭😭)

This scene, a few seconds before the rest of the poets ran up to Todd, probably hurts even more than "it's beautiful"...

This is a moment of despair that falls on a person so suddenly that we don't even know how to deal with it. The poets react instantly, but in reality they also have no idea how to react – they try to comfort, stop him, maybe they are afraid that Todd will do something stupid, just to catch up with Neil?

It's so beautiful...

Where is he? Christmas is coming; Todd's birthday was certainly similar to his Christmas – the same false wishes every year, praising the merits of Todd's brother and complaining about Todd's lack of successes. He probably wouldn't spend the holidays with Todd anyway, but maybe they would be able to exchange anecdotes, joke about their terrible families. Maybe something would be different.

After all, he had just gained everything: friendship, solidarity, support, love – all the poets loved him, not just Neil. Did everything have to fall apart just now, when life was beginning to be worth living for the first time?!

Neil was there. Neil is gone.

But the world is still so beautiful, unmoved by human tragedies.

Todd had always thought that Neil and him should have switched eye colors.

It was a quiet thought, one of those strange, lingering notions that settled in his mind without ever fully forming into words. Neil’s eyes, deep and warm, should have been blue—wild like the tides, constantly moving, reaching for the sky with an uncontainable energy. And Todd’s, pale and uncertain, should have been brown—steady like the shore, quiet, observing, never demanding anything from the world.

He never told Neil this. Never told him how unfair it was that the universe had gotten it wrong. How blue suited Neil’s spirit better, how brown would have fit the quiet steadiness Todd had always tried to maintain. It was just a thought, one of many, lost in the unspoken spaces between them.

Then Neil died.

And everything was wrong.

Todd stood in the snow, his whole body trembling, his breath coming in short, ragged gasps. He felt like he was being pulled apart, like the world had shattered, and the pieces had lodged themselves inside his chest. The sky stretched endlessly above him, and for the first time, he understood.

His eyes weren’t meant to be brown. They were meant to be blue—wild tides ruled by the moon, untamed, restless in the night, reaching up, always reaching, always searching for something that was no longer there. And Neil’s? Neil’s were brown, like the shore, finally still, finally quiet, watching over the tide as it raged and crashed and broke itself against the world.

The universe hadn’t gotten it wrong.

It had just known something Todd hadn’t.

But now he knew and so he sat by the shore to breathe in his brown eyes
