I have a new header!
Ach Mensch kehr dich zu Gott
Single-leaf print from the late 17th century, Nuremberg. Image after Jakob von der Heyden, printed by David Funck.
Death, shown as a skeleton, is aiming a crossbow at the viewer of the print. To his feet lies a crossbow bolt which is labelled "Gestern" (yesterday). The bolt "Heute" (today) is nocked on the crossbow; the "Morgen"-bolt (tomorrow) is tucked in the quiver.
The text explains that being constantly aware of the possibility of death is the right outlook on life. (Bit dark, but that's the 17th century.)
Sadly, I haven't found an exemplar to cite yet, but there is more information in the book I got it from: Harms/ Schilling (2018): Illustrierte Deutsche Flugblätter. Bd. 9. This one is on pp. 12-13, no. IX,6.
