It really drives me crazy that there's nothing happening, it doesn't look like anything is happening anytime soon, and yet I don't believe in cg any less. Especially when the ST accounts are giving us all but radio silence, the anniversary was an utter nothingburger, the physical media box is what I'd call a rip-off, the only question journalists ask are whether the actors believe, and we're still missing the bloopers for fuck's sake.
This is such a weird, unsettling, unique experience, because I keep wondering – am I the problem? Maybe I really CAN't cope with my favourite TV show sucking. But then suspicious stuff keeps happening and something about all of this is just SO strange, and idk maybe I'll go down with this ship, and tell my grandkids in 50 years about how there's new content coming, but what is going on here? What is going on?
Idk if this puts me in the minority but as a CGer i feel like we’ve lost the plot???? Like it used to feel more like we were onto something but now the details we’re picking apart seem smaller and smaller and more of a reach and it has me feeling like did they really intend for people to be picking it apart in this way?? Wouldnt the ARG clues be bigger than some of the things we’re theorizing around now? Just one example but do we really think every social media account of a brand that has had a collaboration with stranger things is seeding out CG hints? Like would they really leak that huge info to whatever minimum wage social media intern is making 67 jokes on the account? Idfk i just feel like we HAVE something but we’re so in the weeds we need to take a step back and reevaluate what we spend our time on. If this is an ARG, it’s intended to be solved and we will receive confirmation when we’ve solved it. Nothing has happened for 7 months. But we have to be close, somewhere.
Sometimes I get this flash like I remember everything wrong with the last season all at once like I’m hit over the head with it while I’m doing the most random shit and I swear I get so outraged so fast, like it’s so ridiculously wrong it’s funny, like I just know it’s not the end because of how loudly wrong it is, statistically there’s no possibility of it being that bad if it’s not on purpose, and it gets progressively worse as the season goes on, like on every angle, editing, lighting, scene blocking, props, dialogue, story, the characters are so wrong, what they did with El it’s like so fucking ridiculous and what happened with byler also seems meticulously structured to be ragebait and if not to ragebait to scream that there’s something wrong with ALL that
The fact that this happened makes me feel sick when I think about it…
Starting 2026 really felt like entering a nightmare. Rather than feeling like outcasts were seen, loved, celebrated and accepted- it was the total flip side of that coin.
A constant humiliation ritual.
And Elon’s unsavoury reaction is one of many reasons why I’d love to see CG happen. The show was promised to be a safe haven for outcasts and those who feel different, not casual viewers who “want to enjoy basic sci-fi.”
Yet those casual viewers were catered to, and it’s one of the biggest betrayals of original messaging I’ve ever witnessed in fictional media. That’s why I can’t let it go. It doesn’t make sense to me.
It doesn’t make sense that El was abused and traumatised from a young age, all by men mind you, only for her only option to be to sacrifice her life for others. It’s all she did her entire life. And that’s all she deserved - a good life.
It doesn’t make sense that Will was also traumatised and abused from a young age, only for his only option to be unreciprocated love, to move far away from his friends to be able to be accepted. All after claiming he’d never fall in love, only to be proven right in the end.
It doesn’t make sense that Mike didn’t get a complete or clear character arc. From starting as fiercely loyal and protective best friend and sharp leader to his loved ones, only to be reduced to a insensitive “love interest” to a “born sexy yesterday” character with no explanation to his aggressive shift in personality. Same thing can be said about “Rambo” Nancy, who just became a killing machine with no remorse.
It doesn’t make sense that Max’s biggest fear was to become violent and aggressive like her brother, only for us to see her aggressively her crash out at their last DnD game.
How Joyce and Hopper felt like caricatures of themselves. How Johnathan was ignored and sidelined.
All of these character points are nothing new, it just keeps echoing from the “plane crash”. No they did not land that stupid plane lmao.
I never expected to feel hit so hard by such a disappointing end to a tv show, but I realise it’s because it is personal.
S5 has done nothing but expose just how hateful, prejudiced and intolerant people truly are to outcasts.
Because it broadcasted their message loud and clear. You can be loved and accepted - but far, far away from us where you can’t be seen or heard.
So forgive me for wanting CG to happen, to get a little hope back for the real future for outcasts out there.
Yeah it’s just a tv show. But when it has a large enough impact to be “shut down” by Musk who is aiming to skew the online media narrative to his own political views - the impact fucking matters.
• the DB were also excited for “the next chapter”, but also remember being scared
• “Our generation screwed things up for you, not us specifically, we’re just making a tv show”
• They decided to write not a life-changing (speech) but the nerdiest one: and yet in the finale Mike says goodbye to his nerdiness and cries
• They (Ross mostly) do sound like the nerdiest nerds, good for them and hopefully for us (they know about D&D way more than they used to say they do, but what else is new)
• They say we should keep opening chests bc if we stop we never find out what is in the next one
• “It’s a maze after all, and there is no sign post to show you where to go”
• What you will regret is taking no risk at all (smth smth ab the safe finale and Mike’s fate in general)
• They used the word “slop” speaking of AI, and I won’t ever believe they don’t know that this is how many viewers call s5
• and something about the fact that they literally do the nerdy speech at the graduation the way Dustin did? Okay
• “You should refuse the average and let your freak flag fly”
• The more wrong-vulnerable you are, the more people call you cringe, — oh really? They say that thousands of people call them names, and it always hurts (I HOPE SO), but really when could so many people insult them if not after s5?
• “The average can never be an individual. Your individuality is the most valuable thing you’ll ever own, don’t you dare flatten it.”
Finally listened to the grad speech* and if it won't make you believe in lwg or c/g, that's completey fair. HOWEVER, if this speech proves one thing, it's that the DBs we saw in the documentary, and in all the interviews since the finale have been putting up an act.
Because that was a beautiful, heartfelt speech and shows exactly why so many of us fell in love with ST. It wasn't a generic, AI-written, soulless speech, but rather the opposite: They took responsibility, were proud of what they've accomplished without forgetting where they came from, and showed vulnerability. Three things we haven't seen them do in their last public appearances.
And it's SO easy to believe that the DBs are these cruel, egomaniac directors, pure evil, and the set was hell on earth etc. etc. because everyone is so frustrated how ST ends, and everyone claims to have insider info, and it's not like they try to make themselves look good... So this speech was really long-needed.
I've already seen so many brilliant detailed analyses, so I'm not going too deep into that, but this is what it looks to me:
-> the Mimic = the fake finale
-> Will-O'-the-Wisp = Jan 7, divorcegate, all the predicted dates, "ST got bad since S3", "They stole the script"
-> the elder brain = being a cg/lwg truther despite everything
*still couldn't get myself to listen to the happy, sad confused podcast. 😭 One day.
