Marvel U Verse Reverse: Doom
With the loss of his mother and the death of his father. Victor Von Doom was a man carried by his drive and ego alone. Pushing himself to become an expert in both Magic and Science alike, he ended up earning a scholarship to an American university where he met Reed Richards.
Reed Richards was an effortless intellect who found a way to get on every nerve Victor had. Obsessed with saving the soul of his mother, Victor spent his time on a machine to travel through dimensions. Reed pointed out a flaw in Victor’s math not understanding the magic that was part of the process. Victor ignored it, but tried returning the favor, by telling Reed how long it would take to properly shield his spacecraft.
Victor’s machine did fail, not because of Reed’s numbers, but because there was no way to test the toll of the magic on it’s workings. The explosion scarred him and led to a shutdown of that wing in the university. Reed, unwilling to wait, stole his experimental space ship and flew it into orbit despite Doom’s warnings. The four monsters that returned began to wreak havoc on New York, forcing Doom to step up and save the city.
For a time, he was a scarred hero of New York, Doom to all villains who would attack the people, till he heard about the hard times his nation had fallen upon and went home to overthrow the leaders so he could lead it to a better future. After creating his famous suit of armor, the king of Latveria became a world wide hero, saving the earth time and again.

Astonishing X-men 1
With Hickman rebooting the X-men, I started wondering how I’d kickstart the X-men, without creating another universe or anything ridiculous like that, just launching a new era of X stories. I’ll post the first two. If people like them I’ll post more. Originally posted in May on School for the Gifted Podcast Facebook page.
The sky above the juvenile detention center known simply as “The Yard” was filled with the presence of a large ship. It was a vessel the size of a house, with engines roaring as if they were trying and failing to push it up into orbit. An assortment of machine guns and laser turrets fired up from “The Yard”, blasts easily being absorbed into the force field wrapped around the ship. The Yard was a juvenile detention center for youth who had been identified with mutant powers, and thus had a unique collection of security features. Despite this, they called in for backup. All the kids were being brought into cells, the building was beginning its lockdown procedure. Above, in the ship, the career criminal Nanny was eager to create a jail break.
Unknown to her, a portal opened inside of her ship. It was a swirl hanging mid-air, steam slowly rising from it. The Blonde Russian warrior covered in mystic armor was Illyana Rasputin, code named Magik. Erupting from the portal Magik pulled forth her Soulsword and brought the massive weapon down on the engines inside the ship, sending it crashing down from the sky. She slipped into another portal, easily escaping.
By the time she fell back into her portal, Jean Grey, one of the most powerful psychics on Earth and the leader of the X-men used her telekinesis to push the ship’s fall into the parking lot rather than into “The Yard” itself. She was certain that there might be a lot of resurfacing for them to do later, but no one would get hurt in the process. She had been on some form of the X-men since before she could drive, and now she was the leader of one of the most powerful groups of superheroes on the planet.
As the ship crashed to the ground, her team pounced on the vessel. Nanny was a mutant like Jean, but her powers were much weaker. She was a telepath who could make you pliable to her will if you were weak willed. She tended to use her powers on children, attempting to create a child army that she would raise in a “safe environment” away from others. A place like “The Yard” would be a gold mine for her.
The hatch of her vessel blew open, revealing the blue armor of the one child she had managed to hang onto in all her years of fighting. Contained, like Nanny was, in a powerful cybernetic suit of armor, he had taken the name Orphan maker, and was often the warrior that let Nanny enact her plots. The suit kept him from aging, and Nanny kept her boy in a perpetual state of youth, fighting to help her recruit more children.
Hisako Ichiki, was one of the first to charge the vessel. Under the code name Armor, she had a psionic exoskeleton that provided her with super strength and Neigh invulnerability. Today she was quite lucky for the armor that glowed around her as Orphan maker raised his cannon. The blast sent Armor hurling through the air. Wolverine, who had been her mentor, was a tiny monster of a man. He charged low, eager to get a one two punch on the Orphan maker. The two had fought many times in the past, but something seemed a bit wrong to him. While he’d never seen Orphan maker fire his cannon at Armor, he’d seen that gun used before, and it seemed much stronger than he remembered.
Bringing his razor-sharp claws up towards Orphan maker’s cannon, Wolverine figured it was best to take the enemy’s largest weapon out of combat in order to make sure all his allies would have an easier time of attacking. Orphan maker simply pointed his palm at Wolverine, and blasted him with a weapon that had never been a part of his armor in the past. While Wolverine had the power to survive most assaults, that blast, drove him through the streets and into the sewers, filling the air with the putrid stench of charred flesh.
Two allies falling so quickly was too much for Jean, who used her powerful psychic ability to speak into everyone’s minds at the same time. As long as he was there, the team would be able to move as one unit without giving any clue of what they were about to do to their enemies. Orphan maker was dangerous, and Nanny could easily turn one of her teammates against them if she took them by surprise, so they had to be careful.
Trinary, a young technopath from India, touched the hide of the ship. In this past, this was the sort of action that would give Jean, and thus the entire team a map of the enemy’s lair while turning over all of the weapons or other systems to Trinary’s control. This time, Nanny was prepared. Rather than triggering a trap, that Trinary would see coming and turn off, Nanny had the hull of the ship electrified, then created a system that would shut that off. That system shut off for a half a second when Trinary took control, but that was more than enough time for that shock to run into her body, knocking her out from the charge.
From the skies, Bobby Drake, Iceman curled around on a frozen slide he created and road around the fallen ship. He quickly scooped up the injured X-men, making they were pulled away from combat. As one of Jean’s oldest friends, he could anticipate many of the command’s she’d give before she gave them. Havok had known Jean seemingly for forever as well, but he was a very different person. Blonde hair hanging out, he carried such a destructive force within him, that he had to wear a containment suit to stop it from rushing out of him too quickly and endangering everyone around him. It was rare that he had the opportunity to relieve his body by pouring that energy out of him at an enemy. For most, that would be a death sentence, but Orphan maker’s robotic suit was proving to be the sort of target he could let go on, so he did. The energy roared out of his chest, flew from his hands, with the sound of a jet engine. The blast pinned Orphan maker down against the ship. The armor didn’t break apart, but he couldn’t budge under the assault.
With Orphan maker contained, Jean took the time to reach out with her mind into the ship. Nanny could try and hide her presence from Jean, but it didn’t last long. Soon Jean shared Nanny’s presence with her teammate best suited to take advantage of that situation. A collection of storm clouds in the area, swirled together, just in time to tear the top of the ship off with a mighty lightening bolt. There in the skies, flew Storm, also known as Ororo Munroe. The winds, the rains, the clouds, all of the weather of the earth bent to her wishes. As a younger woman, she was worshipped as a goddess, and anyone looking up as the sun shined across her stark white hair, her ebony skin, would easily know why.
Below, with the hull of her ship missing, the strange egg-shaped suit that had become Nanny’s trademark had been exposed. She fired repulsor beams up into the sky, hoping to knock storm to the earth. Trinary, who was just waking up from the surprise Nanny had for her earlier, was easily able to identify those beams as old Stark technology. While Nanny had been able to create her egg-shaped suit, she had nowhere near the knowledge needed to create the sort of weapons Iron Man made. Now some of those very weapons were in her suit. It seemed like both Nanny and Orphan maker had updated their suits dramatically from their last encounter with the X-men.
At this point, Iceman had circled back towards the ship, and Nanny, had given up on shooting Storm out of the sky which sent her running further into her ship. The Orphan maker, figuring out after a couple moments that Havok would keep blasting him till his suit broke into shreds, retreated into the badly damaged vessel as well. Through the voice of Jean in everyone’s mind, Trinary warned the team that the ship was full of defensive traps and areas for the villains to hide behind. She was sure they were trying to regain the advantage by pulling the X-men inside into a dangerous situation.
After feeling that blast mangle his form, leaving him to heal in the sewers from the sort of visage that would give nightmares to war zone photographers back into his normal self, Wolverine was eager to enter a “dangerous situation.” Using his indestructible razor sharp Adamantium claws, he tore up into the hull of the ship. He wasn’t the only one itching for action. His young Japanese protégé Armor was equally pissed off about having been knocked out of combat unceremoniously, charging into the ship. It served as a rallying cry, pulling most of the team in towards their enemies. Jean asked Storm to remain outside, just in case they had made a mistake. Someone had to keep an eye on things.
Further in the ship than the others, Wolverine was the first to find Nanny. He hurled himself at her robot suit, claws sinking into it’s egg shape, deeply enough he might have torn through the systems and actually hit the woman hiding inside. That’s when it made a strange humming noise. Wolverine’s entire body slammed into the suit unable to move. He cursed both whatever magnetic device she had added to her suit, and the metal that coated his entire skeleton leaving him helpless against her assault.
Luckily for him, her magnetic device didn’t take into account the strange weapons of Magik. As the only member of their team who was both a mutant and steeped in magic, she wielded a large magic sword called the Soulsword. It was unphased by the magnetic field. She swung, leaving a large gash in Nanny’s armor.
Trying to reach Nanny, Orphan maker found himself running from a snowy avalanche. Iceman was hot on his tail and he was hoping to reach Nanny in time. Soon, the ship released a foam. Orphan maker was surprised that it fired the foam at him instead of the invading X-men. Trinary was only going to be fooled by their trick once. This time she was ready for the trap. This time she took over the damaged ship and was using it to the X men’s advantage.
Storm reported that the police were arriving and there appeared to be some sort of commotion in the prison yard. She flew over to inspect it only to find a familiar blast fire into the sky. It was Cyclops and his team. It had been about a year since the X-men suffered a split down the middle. Cyclops, Jean’s ex husband and the first leader of the X-men, and everyone who left with him decided to keep the X-men name, but adopted the moniker the Blue Team. Jean Grey and this unit was the gold team.
These days , Jean felt that Cyclops and his team were much more likely to crack “The Yard” open and let all the juveniles out than they were to fight the good fight. The Orphan maker was contained and Nanny would be taken down shortly. Jean told Illyana to get everyone out of the ship and into the yard of the juvenile detention center. When she gave the command, Nanny’s armor had been shut down.
Soon, the Gold team: Jean, Storm, Illyana, Wolverine, Armor, Iceman, Havok and Trinary were all in the yard ready to square up against Cyclops and his Blue team.
Cyclops looked at them, police cars lining up around the block outside, prison guards armored up and unsure of what to do. Cyclops glanced over at Pixie. She was a member of Cyclops’ team. She was the same age Cyclops and Jean Grey were when they first became X-men. She had large insect wings, pointed ears, with reddish pink hair, and softer pink skin. Her eyes looked black as night, but despite all this, she was barely sixteen. Before Jean Grey could open her mouth to ask what was going on, Pixie spoke “Sihal Novarum chinoth!” With those words, the Blue team was gone. Jean brought her team back out of “The Yard” ready to turn Nanny and the Orphan maker over to the police, only to discover the Orphan maker had somehow slipped away.
Uncanny X-men 1
With Hickman rebooting the X-men, I started wondering how I’d kickstart the X-men, without creating another universe or anything ridiculous like that, just launching a new era of X stories. I’ll post the first two. If people like them I’ll post more. Originally posted in May on School for the Gifted Podcast Facebook page.
Colossus was metal and looming large. There were a pair of children under his ridiculously wide shoulders. One of them was a strange shade of red, almost purple. The other one appeared to be a dark-skinned black boy with three tentacles hanging from his jaw. The children were small enough that a normal man would have been able to step between them and the men firing on them, but Colossus was a Russian bodybuilder, easily able to dwarf most men. Bullets bounced off his back as Archangel soared in from above. His metal wings caught the sunlight and peppered the men firing on Colossus with jagged metal feathers. Each one coated with enough nero-toxins to knock the men out cold.
Psylocke was in the shadow, psychic butterfly floating above her head. While the purple haired British woman was a trained ninja and could easily have entered the facility without anyone knowing, the technology was cutting edge, and that was Forge’s department. A vet who had created his own cybernetics, gifted with the ability to create anything he needed to make, Forge was in a lab. He said, “There’s not a trace left in the system. We’ve shut them down, but from these records she should have at least four updated suits, including Nanny’s and the Orphan Makers.”
Cyclops was on a rooftop watching the area. His finger instinctively lifted up towards his visor, even though they were connected by Psylocke and not speaking through a com link. Warpath was in a nearby apartment building. He had tossed the place relying on his heightened senses, his tactical training to help them find the clues they needed. Polaris was sitting at a computer next to him. She wasn’t a tracker, but Cyclops always wanted more than one way of thinking in an environment if he could get one. Polaris was a hyper capable woman under a cascade of green hair. She felt it was best to check the electronic trail of those who lived in the house, while her teammate sniffed around and checked their home for clues. “Oh, oh crap,” she let out. Warpath looked over her shoulder. She was looking at the phone of the couple they had knocked out earlier.
After looking at the phone something had clicked. “I know why Nanny and the Orphan maker came through here. The couple who lives here. The husband’s brother moved in recently. He works at a juvenile detention center for mutants known as ‘The Yard.’ With her mind powers, she could easily get whatever information she needed about the facility out of him.” With an extra pair of suits and the upgrades Nanny and the Orphan maker had made to their own suits, Cyclops was certain they were going recruiting. This was possibly the worst time for it. While it had been a year since the last major X event, the government had come crashing down on mutants. Policing had become almost draconian. Sentencing became harsher. Even peaceful mutants were being monitored and forced to register their powers.
Jean, his ex-wife, and the gold team were fighting against the changes politically. Jean had grown into quite the public figure. Their mutual friends Dazzler and Beast were also fighting that good fight, while maintaining their superhero roles as the X Men Gold team. Even Cyclops’ brother Havok had chosen to leave behind the sorts of actions that had once made him a wanted man and followed Jean trying to be there for the mutant people while supporting a human government that despised them and resisted their assistance. Cyclops knew the appeal of the dream Jean chased. The two of them were raised under the banner of Professor Xavier who was convinced early on that a group of mutant heroes would be able to show the world the best of both mutants and humanity. He believed that in doing so, both groups would come to realize they were one people and live in peace.
Many years had passed since then, and despite being the team’s first leader, the one groomed to take over for the Professor, Cyclops only saw a world growing colder and further away from Xavier’s dream. The actions of the past had painted Cyclops as a hero, a villain, the leader of heroes and the father of a nation. When the new registration laws were passed, no one was certain where Cyclops would fall. Everyone knew he’d do whatever he felt he needed to protect his people, but what did that mean? To Cyclops it meant remaining on the ground. Protecting his people had nothing to do with groveling before world councils and smiling for cameras. It meant stopping hooligans with guns from killing two small children, and making sure they made it home safe. It meant setting up his school in a state that refused to enforce the national mutant registration laws. His focus was the people, making sure they had jobs and opportunities and safety. Unfortunately, having one mutant, no matter how misguided, show up to “The Yard” and cracking the prison open was the sort of news coverage that would have ended in the deaths of many innocent mutants. Events like that left law enforcement, and armed civilians a bit too jittery.
Cyclops pulled the team together and had the youngest member of his team, Pixie teleport them just outside of the “The Yard.” While Cyclops’ X-men, who were referred to as the Blue Team by those who needed to create separation between his work and Jean’s weren’t outlaws, they were outspoken. Their political stances had put them in hot water with regular law enforcement and strained many relations with other super teams. “Psylocke, I want you and Pixie to enter “The Yard” quietly, just in case Nanny’s gotten more subtle than we remember. Polaris, Archangel, keep up aerial surveillance. Forge I want you to be ready to take over ‘The Yard’s’ security and get us out of there if things go sideways. Warpath, keep eyes out for anything or anyone who doesn’t belong here. Colossus, you’re with me. If things go south, we’re the hammer,” Cyclops told the team upon their arrival. Between Pixie’s magical powers, Psylocke’s ninja prowess and her psychic abilities, he was certain that no one would know their powers would exist.
Nanny’s ship was on it’s way towards “The Yard.” Still in the clouds, it fired a set of rockets, that Polaris easily sent firing back into the ship, taking out it’s large cannon on the bottom. Many mutants with control over the natural forces of the earth learned subtle ways to manipulate their abilities. Polaris was not that sort of person. She was powerful and strong. Child of one of the most frightening men on the planet, she was the daughter of Magneto. Her every action demanded she be feared or respected. When she bent the magnetism of the earth to her will, it was in waves of force that could easily crush any aggressor, or, when she was feeling playful, send their own attacks back at them. Realizing they’ve been spotted,
Nanny turned on the outer force field. It didn’t stop Polaris from exerting her force over the ship, but it did seem to make things harder for her. Nanny, knowing there was no way the X-men would allow anything to happen to the civilians in the area, especially the mutants in the facility below, cut her engines and let her ship freefall towards “The Yard.” With great strain Polaris caught the vessel before it crashed into the building. The stress of suddenly catching the vessel out of free fall was a little too much and her eyes fluttered. Archangel swooped in and caught her as below, Nanny cut her engines on, while the small detention center began firing on her ship.
Before his team could converge on the vessel, Jean Grey’s Gold team was on the scene. Several of them were on the ground charging the ship. Storm took to the air. Cyclops called his team back. Not only did he want to make sure there was no fighting between the teams, he wanted to make sure that the Gold team never knew they were there. As they all went to regather, Nanny’s ship crashed hard into the parking lot. It felt as if they had just ridden out the world’s fastest earthquake. “The commotion outside,” Psylocke communicated over the mind link, “It knocked out the power dampeners in East containment. The kids are starting to riot.” Each child in that detention center had some sort of special ability and some history of criminal activity. While some may be content to hide and bide there time, some of those inside were living weapons. The only thing protecting the neighborhood from their rage had been the ‘power dampeners.’
Now an entire wing of the building, was without this technology. Cyclops had Pixie teleport the rest of their team into the prison yard just outside of that wing. If anyone could contain the situation peacefully it was his team. Warpath had gotten information on how a facility like “The Yard” would handle this situation. Psylocke quickly made sure that everyone on the team knew. The officers were given power suits and a pair of weapons. One was full of rubber bullets. It was meant to take down the weaker children safely. The next weapon was much more lethal and would be fired on the rest. They were in the middle of a civilian area, and until they were safely back in their cells they were not considered children, but violent offenders. Without Cyclops’ team, this place was going to erupt into open war, police officers and children, all fighting for their lives. Forge, locked the armored officers out of the east wing as Psylocke broadcasted Cyclops’ warning into their minds: “This is Cyclops, leader of the X-men. The officers are right outside this area, and the walls are still in place. No matter how badly you wish to leave, now is not that time. That crash has been handled. Please, please, return to your cells peacefully, and we can make sure no one gets hurt today.
”Most of the children heard his words and returned to their cells. Most of them weren’t hardened terrorists. Many were just scared youths who ended up in bad situations, or had powers they lost control of in terrible moments that were now defining their lives. Some did come out violently though. While it wasn’t many, it was enough that Cyclops’ team had to hop into action. Those were the ones who found themselves blasted back by the concussive blasts that erupt from Cyclops’ eyes, hit by the showered rain of Archangel’s blades, were knocked unconscious by Colossus’ massive fists, were beaten unconscious by the warrior ferocity of Warpath, taken down by the martial arts prowess of Psylocke, or literally reclaimed by their cells at the commands of Polaris. Pixie spent most of her time getting the injured and unconscious safely into their cells, while Forge continued controlling the facility making sure that any attempts the officers made to enter was thwarted before they finished. The riot was put down quickly, but the police had been called the moment Nanny’s ship came out of the sky and now they were outside ready to raid the center. This section was right next to the yard outside and there was nothing Forge could do to prevent that area from filling up with armed officers.
Before they could leave, the power dampeners switched back on. The X-men were instantly left depowered. No longer were they a group of powerful superheroes. Now they were just a well-trained group of strange looking people. The doors flew open, police and officers assuming they had the edge. Cyclops and his team had been in this situation before. In the past they tried to talk their way out. That led to incarcerations without formal charges. They were not going that rout again.Forge, who was always armed, laid down a cover fire of rubber bullets. Some officers were knocked down, others ducked. It was enough for a crew of highly trained warriors like the X-men to get into the open yard, where their powers returned. Cyclops used his eye blasts to knock back the guards far enough that combat would not be necessary. He regretted seeing that blast in the sky. It was only moments before the Gold team would show up to assist the police. There had been no casualties so far. He wanted to get out without hurting anyone. That possibility seemed to be decreasing with every second they remained. Polaris crushed the device that would extend the power dampeners into the yard they were in, as Jean’s team came down into the yard. It had been four months since the two teams had battled it out on live television. Cyclops wanted to tell her but knew the dampeners would be on before she listened. With a nod towards Pixie, she teleported them away.

Heir to a giant corporation, Harry Osborn had a future he didn’t want laid out before him. His father Norman was an obsessive genius chasing the future, and it made sense that he’d find a lot of his father in his best friend Peter Parker. While Peter wasn’t pushing Harry to learn the company, he was definitely a genius.
One day, during a field trip to Osborn Industries Peter was assaulted by one of the experimental test subjects. He told no one as it ravaged his system and gave him super powers. As soon as Norman found out, he tried to reach out to the young lad, who had already began making money as a wrestler named, “The Spider-man.” Things went poorly and Peter beat Norman within an inch of his life. Realizing what he had unleashed on this earth, Norman used his resources and tried to apprehend Peter personally, scared the police may kill him.
Harry was walking home when Peter lay Norman’s dead body on the ground. It was a month before he figured out everything. It was two weeks before he found the Goblin suit. It was one day after that he found his true calling.
After bringing Peter to justice, he used his father’s gear and his company to try and help the people of New York as The Green Goblin!
