A group of beings with superhuman abilities are tasked with ensuring the peace of Neocity. Neo Counter Taskforce is a newly implemented program by the conglomerate SM corporation as a way to stave off chaos and rebellion brought about by the recent insubordination of members whose names are redacted.
Unit 127 with Taeyong as their leader are assigned to an area with only one goal in mind, never let anyone inside The Cube, them included. Curiosity peaks as the unit has to repel wave after wave of spies and and thugs. Frustrated with the secrecy of the company and the mystery of what they're guarding, Taeyong braves entering The Cube only to come out a different man. Haunted by the scene he encountered inside the building, he tries to persuade his team to defect from SM. But benefits presented by the company such as free housing, food, allowance and education have trapped the members in the corporate's grasp. As orphans trained since childhood, following SM's orders had been their only directive in life.
Shaken by fear, Taeyong escapes from the area, with SM forcing the remaining members to track down their former leader. Stakes are raised as the fight heightens leading to Winwin being incapacitated from falling off a building. Angered by the accident, Jaehyun chases Taeyong through the city. Taeyong successfully evades them but not before sustaining an injury dealt by a clone. Doyoung puzzled by the series of events starts to question his loyalty and searches for the origin of the clone.
