Today I finally bought a hobonichi weeks type of journal. I can't wait to experiment with different layouts to see what works best for me! I've been wanting to go back to paper for scheduling my week and today was the day I found just what I was looking for

PhD Day 69: I've been incredibly unproductive for the past week. Today I couldn't focus all day and only got into my reading 1h ago. Should I ruin my sleep schedule or should I go to sleep and just force myself to get shit done tomorrow morning?

I’m spending time at my parents house while I apply for a job in my hometown. I wish I could have been a bit more productive, but I got to see family (and there’s always some added stress that comes with that)

Did I make the trip all the way to my favorite library although now I live quite far away? Yes and I think I'll continue to do so tbh. Did some studying there in the morning, and also went for a walk around my new area in the evening. I love being so close to the water.

sorry for being mia, not dead 🫠 uni life has just brought upon lots of self reflection so far. i've been trying to switch to fully digital notes after using only analog in high school, but now i realize i still need paper and pen for some subjects... as for study method, the rhythmless uni schedule is truly throwing me for a loop. so posting just hasn't been one of my priorities

but i am handling things to the best of my abilities and as i get more used to my new life i'll bring this blog back to life i promise !!

Starting my personalized summer reading challenge! (June 8 to Aug 8)

My local library got rid of its adult summer reading program 🥲 so I decided to create a personalized reading program for me and still give back to my community 🥰

Below are the 2 ways I'll be tracking my progress (It has some repeats bc I know I'll need the guardrails lol 🤦🏾‍♀️ )

1st, a reading log. My goal is to read at least 60 minutes every week.

Every week that I do this gives me +5 points.

2nd, a bingo activity card. This is to give me new ideas about finding books or collections to read.

Each time I complete a bingo square, I get +10 points. (A full completed row is +50 points).

To incentivize me during this challenge but also give back to my community, I have three prize ideas I'll "give" to myself during the following intervals:

Prize 1 - Awarded upon the completion of the first full week of reading 60 minutes/achieving +5 points

Prize 2 - Awarded at the halfway point of the challenge (July 8). I need to have achieved at least +20 points by this point

Prize 3 - Awarded at the end of the challenge (August 8). I need to have achieved at least +45 points by this point

My only class of the day was cancelled, so it's officially Christmas break for me. I slept in (commuting continues to kill me), then did some reading from my molecular pchem textbook. I have two classes related to statistical thermodynamics this semester and I'm enjoying them a lot, so I just read it for my own pleasure lol. I knew these classes would be interesting - I often say the intersection of chemistry and physics is a fascinating place - but I like them even more than I thought :)

I did some thesis work too and once again it made me think of how much I enjoy working with (my) data. I miss being in the lab but this is fun too!

Last few days of studying before break ☁️
