rebecca sugar: our lesson is to always listen to people and cooperate
bismuth: cool so is it okay if steven unbubbles me and i have a chat with the crystal gems because clearly i had a misunderstanding until the last second and i would much rather talk about my goals and ideals with other adults?
becky sucrose:
Oh that’s right. Bismuth didn’t get to talk over her ideals with reasonable adults like the Crystal Gems who would understand her point of view, she got to be judged for her entirely reasonable actions through the view of a child. Yep, clearly a good way to show that a character’s ideology is “wrong” is to have us see it through the easily distorted and heavily rose-tinted view of a child. And yeah, Steven may be 14, an age where he could possibly accept Bismuth’s ideas somewhat more realistically, but lets face it, he looks and acts like he’s 8.
honestly we should never expect realism from someone who says she wants to tackle real world issues but then confesses she’ll tell kindergarten level morals and lessons
