It's a snippet from my in progress OC-centric fic, called Child of Exile on ao3:

The land began to slope upward, and Dûrion searched his mind for a song from Gondolin that he could sing. Maybe others would take it up. Maybe it would work like the Nargothrond one had... then he stopped suddenly. It seemed like he could see shapes moving in the shadows. It reminded him of that fateful day when he had come down from those mountains. Was this an ambush like that one, or... was it possible these could be ghosts? Would the dead Gondolindrim recognize him? Or was this just a figment of his imagination?

Ok so maybe that's a bit more than three lines... rules were meant to be broken lol

a drabble written for the 4/4/26 SWG instadrabbling session for the prompt: Ashes collected in my throat instead of your name.

She knew the instant he died—tasted ashes coating her mouth as she doubled over, invisible flames licking over her skin, leaving no mark but the scent of burning hair that only she could smell, as distant screamed only she could hear echoed on the wind through the open windows. Nerdanel gagged and choked, and frightened both of her parents as she sank to the floor. Tears spilled despite her best efforts, and she was shocked that they did not evaporate into steam the moment they touched her cheeks.

All that terrible fury—and just like that, he was gone.
