it’s also the way that davey inserts himself into basically every single jack/kath interaction. it’s the way that in WWH reprise davey is using his hands with and on jack to convince him (because that’s what jack did with him) and jack is put off and confused by it and doesn’t want to be helped right then, and by the time we get to once and for all it’s easy for them to both touch each other instead of one or the other. it’s davey developing the same back-of-the-bicep pat/slap that jacks and the boys all do.

it’s the ease that davey works himself into with katherine in something that has to be an apology for his privatized “i say we save any story for a real reporter”, his consistent conversation with her when they’re on stage in close proximity.

it’s davey tapping charlie’s shoulder when he’s back from the refuge and charlie just opening his arm to him and davey practically hiding in charlie’s shoulder from happiness.

it’s also the “it’s- it’s good to have your back again!” being bright and unafraid to be honest, and jack grinning, laughing, catching himself, and giving davey the brush-off “shut up.”

davey and learning to be this sort of.. soft flame instead of the crackly fire he is at the start. it’s such a gentle arc idk
