Absolom
My spatial unawareness was acting up when I drew this, so his proportions are a bit all over the place in a couple of these pictures. But I’m not redrawing it (because violins are hard.)
Anyway, Absolom is my third main character in Rent World: he’s the illegitimate son of the current king, and has a lot of conflict between himself and the other sons of the king. The throne is hereditary, but is passed on only to members of the king’s bloodline who inherited the royal gift of power that is capable of protecting the city from the toxic world outside. Absolom is the only son of the king that inherited this power, making him the rightful heir—a fact that the other princes resent. They do everything in their power to keep the king and the people from ever finding out the truth, as well as everything they can to ensure that Absolom “knows his place.”
Regardless of what his brothers want, Absolom knows he is the rightful heir to the throne, and will do whatever he has to to ensure he inherits it after his father passes on. He is intelligent, manipulative, calculating and cruel, but those who are loyal to him would follow him into hell itself.
Oh yeah, and he’s a really good violinist.
