This dude is brewing some booze. This process creates gas and if you’re not careful with a fully sealed bottle they can explode. The gloves provide space for the gases to gather and a visual way to check the fermentation- if the glove isn’t inflating, something went wrong in that bottle.

He’s saluting them because he’s funny as hell.

The Mauritius “underwater waterfall” is not a true waterfall but a naturally occurring optical! In the sense that that’s not water falling, it’s sand and silt shifting! Shifting down a 4000-meter-deep abyssal drop. It is in fact exactly as deep as it looks, sorry :)

Other fun facts about Mauritius include:

that’s where Dodo birds were from!

We’ve proposed to each other 3 times now. The first time was in a park, with just us. The second time was immediately afterwards, in a restaurant, where the family next to us bought our dinner and left without telling us that’s what they were doing, and the restaurant gave us champagne and chocolate cake. The third time, the restaurant gave us Prosecco. At least one of use legitimately cried on each occasion, so we’re giving the crowd their money’s worth. But yeah, defn grifting.
