I’m still 0.1% convinced the potato scene was a mating bond clicking into place. I mean we have:

The allusion to steam swirling like Azriel’s shadows around Elain. The symbolism of her being shrouded in his essence.

Elain freezing and I mean freezing as he came into the room.

Mor noticing something Feyre doesn’t about this exchange which makes her tense.

Azriel taking the potatoes and not letting her serve him.

Elain getting flustered for the first time ever and bolting. Since when has she ever cared so much about her appearance since arriving in Velaris?

Azriel getting pissy with Cassian for not waiting on Elain.

Need I go on? I’m just saying, if it happens, I’d be down. 😂

She’s been building them up for multiple books. They are both connected to similar plots. There is a ton of foreshadowing for them.They have complimentary rare powers, their personalities compliment each other, they are what the other needs ect. How is any of this “bad writing”?!

Just say if she doesn’t write the ship you want you’ll say it’s bad writing. Because that’s what your really saying lol

The next couple needs to be believable.

It’s not believable for Elain to want to be with Lucien after she spent the past 2 books avoiding, being uncomfortable around, and even shrinking into herself in his presence. It’s not believable that the man who is living with another woman and can’t stand to be around his mate for more than 5 minutes, is going to end up with said mate.

It’s not believable for Az and Gwyn to be mates when he witnessed her being SAed, and then forgot about her for 2 years. It’s not believable for them to be mates when we spent months in close proximity to his “mate” and all the while he was thinking about going down on another woman every night. It’s not believable for them to be mates when Az was more concerned with getting Eris back than Gwyn’s wellbeing in the BR.

What is believable? Elriel. Who have risked their lives to save each other, who have shared quiet, intimate moments together, who want to be together, who are willing to question fate to be together, who compliment each other’s quiet nature and willingness to go to any length to protect the ones they love. That’s believable.

For this prompt, I kept thinking about how long Azriel has followed orders, buried his wants, and silenced his heart. But even the most loyal soldier reaches a breaking point .

At some point, it’s inevitable. He’ll rebel. Against Rhysand’s command, against fate itself, against the idea that he isn’t allowed to want her. Because how long can a male resist what his soul already knows is his?

That kiss, the one he’s yearned for, dreamed of, denied himself a thousand times will happen. Because love like theirs can’t be contained by duty or fear.

Elain looked up at Azriel, their eyes meeting, his hand still lingering on the hilt of the blade.

I saw the painting in my mind: the lovely fawn, blooming spring vibrant behind her. Standing before Death, shadows and terrors lurking over his shoulder. Light and dark, the space between their bodies a blend of the two. The only bridge of connection … that knife.

🌸🗡️I am just so excited how this was depicted so beautifully, the contrast between Elain’s gentle, vibrant spring and Azriel’s brooding shadows is powerful, almost ethereal.

The imagery of light and dark blending in the space between them speaks volumes about their connection, delicate, tense, yet deeply meaningful. And at the center of it all is that knife.

The very blade Elain used to stab the King of Hybern, in an act of courage that changed everything. A blade that Azriel guarded and has never let another soul touch. Yet Elain not only took it, but returned it to him, despite the horrors she endured, despite the blood it spilled.

That small, silent exchange between them is more than a moment, it’s a symbol of trust, understanding, and a bond that neither fully speaks of, but both feel deeply.

its so precious to me that Azriel calls Elain the Sun at Dawn, especially considering his past of being locked up in darkness.

At dawn, when the sun breaks through - its akin to the first sunlight lightening up the darkness. It symbolises hope and new beginnings.

Azriels world was dark, filled with loneliness, him feeling unworthy and self-conscious but then comes Elain. The sunlight that breaks through his darkness. She lightens up his life. Truly seeing him, never being afraid of Azriels darkness. She takes the initiative and effort to interact with Azriel on a personal level. Because of Elain and their connection, he feels brave enough to question the cauldron.

They are so perfectly made for each other. Elain gives Azriel the warmth and security he lacked all his childhood.

Dropping the latest Sketch-a-Wish, voted on by my lovely Patreon members for May! Featuring Rhys, Feyre and their meeting with the Bone Carver from A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas! The moment Rhys broke the tension with his knee-hurting-when-it-rains secret, and the Bone Carver busting out laughing was my favorite moment. It cleverly showed the professional respect they have for each other, even though they're definitely not bosom friends. It also emphasizes how much the Bone Carver adheres to his own rules when he accepts it. It makes him such a charming little monster.

Happy Solstice, here I am, Az, I'm the present and you know it, here I am, Az.

She's a solstice surprise that certain broody shadowsinger can't wait to receive. All Azriel has to do is untie the ribbon and find the presents beneath the cobalt blue bows, his favorite color of course. Though he loves his girl in any color she wears.

While the rest of the inner circle are scrambling to get last minute gifts and decorate the river house, lovely Elain Archeron has her mind set on other ways to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year. Feyre was all too happy to fly Elain to the House of Wind and keep their secret as the OG EIriel shipper.

Azriel, whose cool, steely composure has left the building, can only grip the archway of his bedroom door to contain his growing eagerness to run into the room and spend the next 1000 years showing our gentle flower girl how grateful he is for her.
