sometimes i need to remind myself that i'm writing fanfiction for free and i'm allowed to have a shitty sentence or two

so many of my fics have remained buried in my drafts because i wrote the cool scenes first and then didn’t have “connective tissue”. but i’m freeing myself from that and just adding shitty “and then a week passed” or “they got to their destination” connections and just posting them and it’s so! freeing! try it!

I can't tell you how many times I've agonized over a scene transition, only to fill in the missing space with, like, a sentence.

Write the parts you wanna write and then go in and slap scotch tape over the rest of it.

Sometimes when I’m feeling self conscious I’ll go and pull a book off my shelf to see how whichever author handled time transitions, and it’s really REALLY common that it’s just, like, “October came and went.” And that’s SO freeing. Just fast forward. Just do it.

Plus if the transition or passage of time isn't interesting to write.. it's probably not going to be interesting to read either. Just skip it.

Also yeah who cares about a shitty sentence or two even aside from that, honestly. Done is better than perfect.

If Tumblr asks me for ID verification, I will probably just not sign in again.

I love you guys, I will miss you, and I don't want you to think anything bad has happened to me if I disappear off here.

But it's a tall order to ask me to attach my real ID documents to a social media site that might not have the means to keep my information private and safe.

You can find me... nowhere, because everywhere else will have the exact same problem. If it happens I will just... not have an online presence any more.

Maybe it won't happen. I hope it doesn't. But I'm putting this here just in case.

Kon’s face does something Tim can’t even begin to decipher. “Don’t say that,” he rubs soothing circles into Tim’s back. “Of course you’re allowed to be happy. Of course you’re allowed to do things that make you happy.”

Tim buries his face into Kon’s shoulder. The leather jacket against his cheek smells like the Kent Farm and the salt of the ocean and all of the other things that make Kon Kon. “He ruined it.” His voice is small. “Why does it always get ruined?”

“It’s OK,” Kon shushes gently. “We’ll build you a darkroom in the Tower. You know Bart will have fun with that, and Cassie will help. Let Hood try to get through her, I would love to see him try.”

thinking about switching from google docs to another free software to write with. i’ve been looking into ellipsus but if anyone has any other suggestions i would be super grateful 🙏

officially moved all my fics into ellipsus, unfortunately i still need to use google drive for professional stuff BUT all of my personal creative works will no longer be kept there in order to avoid being scraped
