hello new followers!

A little bit about me: I’m British, cis female (bordering on agender but too old and tired to interrogate it properly), very ace, married to an awesome bi woman, 51 on the outside and 25 on the inside, I ride motorbikes and love loud guitar music, and have been kicking around on the UK rock/goth scene for over 30 years and fandom in general for nearly 25 years.

I am currently (September 2025) up to my eyebrows in my original fiction series Two of a Kind (summary: Hal Peacock, up and coming rock guitarist who is not nearly as together as he likes to appear, and his best friend, obnoxious, rude, traumatised and poorly-adjusted punk guitar player Jack McQueen, met while working the streets as teenagers. They're both out of that life now, but can they leave their past behind them enough to be what each other needs?) and you can see the lads in my userpic, art by the utterly brilliant @citrusro - Jack on the left, Hal on the right. And also (April 2026) up to my eyebrows in a completely unhinged piece of in-universe fanfiction featuring the lads and their friends in a very tenuously regency romantasy setting, which you can find here.

Fandom-wise I am most active in the Tolkien fandom (although I’m taking a break as of May 2025), particularly Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit. I have over 450 fics on AO3 (I am likethenight over there), including a ginormous Bard/Thranduil series called My Heart Is An Empty Vessel and its various related fics, and I have also been busily sailing/more or less captaining the tiny Legolas/Imrahil ship for over 15 years and welcome new crewmates! My Barduil masterlist is here and as of April 2025 it contains nearly 120 individual fics including six series and a whole load of one-shots.

I am a firm believer in ship and let ship, don’t like don’t read, and your kink is not my kink and that’s okay. Antis, terfs, racists and homophobes (including hate against all the letters under the queer umbrella) will be blocked on sight, and blank blogs will be reported as bots and blocked. (this is the participation website - if you’re not participating we’re all going to assume you’re not real)

absolutely love abusing the power that comes with 3rd person limited pov and just ignoring things and being vague sometimes. does the character know all the details? no? then I don't have to either.

I knew it but couldn’t remember where it was, and after some 6 hours of sieving through local architectural images I think I found the precise building.

Second picture by Constantin Grünberg, city museum collections, 1960s–1970s.

Wooden building, nicknamed Snellu or TALO. Architect Ernst Lodenius, built 1893. Toinen linja 8 / Castréninkatu 4, midtown Helsinki. There’s been a paint job since the 1980s and the white parts are brown these days. Presumably owned by the church now, since it’s used for their youth services and activities. For Abeling’s artwork, it has been detached from its surroundings, and the back half of the house removed. Some details simplified.
