@noell-intheclouds
someone should tell amazon that it won’t make me like or use their cursed site if it pops up involuntarily every time I try to scroll past their ads
today I followed a spontaneous whim and watched Project Hail Mary in the cinema with nothing but the vague knowledge that it was based on an Andy Weir novel and that Ryan Gosling was in it, hoped for a somewhat entertaining evening of sci fi
it is now 2 am and I can’t stop crying
the movie was just that beautiful hopeful bittersweet endearing raw sincere personal and so very human
don’t think I’ll watch it ever again
I hope that all of my Cardassian-loving pals on this website know that Una McCormack has just up what effectively serves as the conclusion to her Garak series on AO3.
Also featuring such things as:
Julian Bashir not being catatonic anymore
Julian Bashir being friends with Garak's husband
An actual in-detail look at the Romulan refugee crisis from Picard season 1
An exploration of Tzenkethi culture that amounts to what is simultaneously one of the most hilarious and horrifying dystopias in fiction
Garak being a bitch about it
Link Legend of Zelda is lowkey nonbinary but he spends all of history trying to defeat a power hungry immortal usurper pig and rescue the same princess who also isn’t the same princess, so he can’t worry about that right now
I’m a polyamorous bi/pan in theory but aroace in practice - maybe in the sense that I’m too alienated and exhausted for romance and too self-absorbed and dysphoric for sex - or maybe in the sense that I just am, who knows
it’s two fewer potential messes to worry about atm
Reblog daily for health and prosperity
Its crazy how Garak has both crazy old man lore and sweet little old lady vibes *chefs kiss*
he really is the nonbinary lizard of all time
Q Star Trek TNG is highkey nonbinary but he’s currently teaching his balding old man yaoi crush the 47th life lesson this month by forcing him into a Robin Hood roleplay so he can’t worry about that right now
Jonathan Sims Magnus Archives (Character) is lowkey nonbinary but he spends all day and night at his job recording funky little horror short stories on magical tape recorders to retraumatize himself for science so he can’t worry about that right now
Lenore Vandernacht Nevermore Webtoon is lowkey nonbinary but she’s dead and caught up in a psychosexual game of chess with her equally dead toxic wife so she can’t worry about that right now
If I read the word "meets" in one more book summary ...
"Crimson Peak meets Knives Out" "Holly Back meets Lex Croucher" "Manhunt meets Lord of the Flies" "Jennifer's Body meets Heartstopper" "Stephen King meets Holly Jackson" "Ready Player One meets Heartstopper" (yes, again) "Alien meets Midsommar" (the rest of the summary actually sounded quite promising, sad)
All pulled from a 5 minute browse of new queer book releases.
Please stop advertising books with other media. Please show me an interesting summary. Promise me a good story, don't promise me a mix up of other medias I may or may not have consumed but certainly have heard of. I don't want to read Heartstopper (again but worse with slightly off vibes because it's failing to be something else as well), I want to read a new story with new premises and new ideas.
Any book whose summary starts like this gets an immediate pass from me. I'm sorry, but if you can't sell a story without another story, you're telling me that it can't stand on its own legs and isn't worth reading.
