Disney vs. DeSantis is so funny because it's like. Neither side even wanted to get into this. Here's how it's supposed to go: Politician does something stupid. Corporation disavows politician after public pressure. Politician disavows the disavowing. Nothing changes for either party.
But then the Florida governor got stars in his eyes. He saw an opportunity to bolster his standing before the presidential primary. He wanted to be the one who took on The Mouse and won. So in retaliation he decides he's going to tear down the decades-old agreement Disney has to govern Disney World's district.
And just like that, Disney's batshit insane legal department turns towards Florida like the Eye of Sauron spotting the ring at Mount Doom. They smell potential lost profit. They smell blood.
Disney will use any and every strategy they've accumulated over the last century of lobbying congress and DeSantis can't back down lest he admit Mickey Mouse kicked his ass. He lost control of Disney World's district even more than he already had. Now he's getting sued.
This all started because Disney was pressured into backtracking their political contributions to Florida and disavowing the Don't Say Gay law. Now they're fighting for something they actually care about: their profit margin. Disney is not an ally to queer people and they're an enemy to progressives, but damn am I rooting for them to keep humiliating the greater evil for the time being. This is high comedy.
So in the past 2 or so months I've been rewatching mbav, wowp and now big time rush + a lot of dcom

No tf he shouldn’t have, who’s gonna be better using their powers quickly in a tournament where timing is a lot of it, the person who actually uses their magic often, or the person who tries to not use it that often so that they can read up on everything about it first?
It’s like that hundreds of vases vs that one perfect vase, Alex trained in her own way and her winning was not only in character for her, but she deserved it
Alex Russo was constantly underestimated when it came to doing the right thing even though she’d shown countless times before that she had pure intentions. Such as Justin accusing her of wanting to make his class fail to put him out of the compition when she really just thought they were ready for their exam—which they were. While she did mess up many times, the reactions she received from others like Justin and Harper in later episodes were completely unjustified. I.e. her seemingly ruining the compition because she wanted to save Zeke and Harper. Or not wanting Harper to expose wizardry to Zeke and Harper refusing to understand where she was coming from.
AND THATS JUST THE FACTS
Okay, so I just finished watching Wizards of Waverly Place and honestly? Fuck the wizarding world. First they manipulated the Russos with the whole "government trying to prove they're wizards" stuff (they literally had to walk home from like the middle of nowhere, and were put through shit the entire time) and then later with the whole thing of putting Justin and Max against Alex for round 2? Like that's genuinely pretty awful and shitty of them!
AND the fact that only one of them gets to keep their powers? That's also pretty shitty.
In conclusion, Stevie was right!
Wizards Of Waverly Place: Season 3 | Episode 22 - 2010
Jerry and Theresa in the movie were like "I don't know who this Max kid is. But... *pulls out adoption papers*"
I feel like one of the Ultimate Dad Moments™ on Disney is when Jerry says he misses the cat that Max gets him every year for his birthday and when Max runs and gets it for him, he shakes it and "I wonder what is is." It's just such a sweet, simple moment and is one of the best things that dads do.
most of the time when max is being “stupid,” he’s really just taking what everyone says very literally. only like 10% of the time is he actually doing something questionable or is he saying something random or confusing. the only reason people think he’s stupid is because he doesn’t understand when people talk in circles around him and he takes what people say at face value.
additionally, max tells his family that he acts more dumb than he really is. he leans into other peoples perceptions of him and plays it up so people think he’s dumb, when in reality he knows exactly what he’s doing. he’s aware of the fact that the things he does and says don’t seem normal so he hams it up even more and commits to the ‘dumb kid’ trope people put on him, so that if he slips up and reveals wizardry, no one will believe him. this shows that max is, in fact, smart, and pretends to be someone he’s not in order to save himself.
lastly, max has claimed that he needs structure in his life in order to make sense of things. he says that he never really understands what’s going on or how to go about life, because of how chaotic his life is and because his parents and teachers don’t enforce any rules. only when the new principle makes clear guidelines and gives structure does max feel the world actually makes sense. it’s during this that he completely changes his attitude and people think he’s “normal.”

I'm never gonna get tired of the "character follows a terrible, stupid, and wrong line of logic but somehow ends up at the right conclusion" trope.
"wizard" is a qualification, like "PhD". not just anyone can just call themselves a wizard.
to become a wizard you have to: be gay, pass the sorcerers' trial, do a funny little dance, be a MASSIVE bitch
