Okay I JUST realized I never posted these on here—- BUT BASICALLY, about a year and a half ago I started doing these experimental black hairstyle posts that were threads long on Twitter, to give artists a source of inspo for their black ocs whose hair they wanted to try something new with! There’s more to black hair than just the selected styles portrayed in media, and I thought it would be fun to show people how much texture, shape, fades, length, and style can be combined when drawing black hair—-cause it’s a kind of manipulation our hair can do irl! I know it's a pain to find good photo-refs, but study-vice, morpho is always a good starting point! Also pay attention to people around you, observation is part of studying too. Use your body as a guide. As a friend.
Morpho: Fat and Skin folds is a book all about drawing plus-size people. It's a part of the Morpho series by Michel Lauricella.

tetanus fact: it's an old wives' tale that tetanus is caused by rusty metal. it's actually caused by puncture wounds substantially deeper than they are wide, which introduce ubiquitous anaerobic spores (i.e. the "seeds" of single-celled organisms which cannot grow if exposed to oxygen) into a warm, poorly-oxygenated space in the body. so receiving shallow cuts from a rusty knife is not likely to give you tetanus but puncture wounds from clean but non-sterile objects can. this is great news if you like receiving superficial wounds from rusty knives and blades and swords all over your dumbass body

I say this with affection: the Honor & Glory guys are absolutely fucking insane. They’re going on? Eight years of work now? With the eventual end goal of recreating every inch of Titanic in painstaking historic detail. There used to be an actual game planned for the environment as well but I think at this point it’s 100% about the ship.

I think the only person I've met in real life with 100% career satisfaction was this gal I knew who was a presenter at a children's science museum and delivered every line like she was running a WWE match. HI! If you do art, or draw characters repeatedly, I highly suggest having one of THESE ^^^
It’s every color needed to draw that character, rather than importing a previous drawing, which can distort colors over time if you shade, and it saves time.
I personally include in first bubble is skin color, teeth and inner mouth color, and blush. The second is hair, the third is clothing/body. If they have a weapon I add that to the side. And on the left I add speech bubble color and eye shape/color.
Saves me a lot of time! Figured someone might think it was helpful 🤷♀️
every single time I install some indie software like for vtubing or any other specialized use I have to join another fucking discord because no one is putting their documentation online anymore. it's a serious problem. and discord is impossible to navigate. search doesn't work, threads are invisible if they haven't been bumped recently, no one keeps up with listing where things are or even maintaining a basic FAQ. this situation is really really bad and no one is going to understand exactly how bad it is until discord collapses and deletes all this shit off their servers
Has anyone on tumblr talked about the deadly homophobic attack on O’Shae Sibley, a Black gay man, for the crime of dancing in public yet? Homophobic and transphobic attacks, often with a racist character, are on the rise. We shouldn’t ignore this.
The NYPD confirmed to TIME that the killing is being investigated as a “possible biased incident.”
On Saturday night at a gas station in Brooklyn, N.Y., a group of friends were dancing to a Beyoncé song when another group of men, who witnesses say used homophobic slurs, told them to stop. Surveillance footage shows one of the friends, O'Shae Sibley, a 28-year-old gay man who was a professional dancer, confronting the men. An argument began. Within minutes, police say, one of the men stabbed Sibley.
New York Police are investigating the fatal stabbing as a potential hate crime; Mayor Eric Adams referred to the incident as one on Monday.
Otis Pena, a close friend of Sibley's, says he tried to stop the bleeding by pressing on the wound but Sibley was pronounced dead after being taken to Maimonides Medical Center. “They murdered him because he was gay, because he stood up for his friends,” Pena said in a video posted to Facebook hours after the stabbing.
LGBTQ advocates highlighted that the fatal stabbing comes amid a string of violent incidents. “O’Shae Sibley’s shocking murder follows a disturbing rise in violence and harassment against LGBTQ people across the U.S. This cannot continue. No one should have to fear for their safety just for being themselves,” said GLAAD director of local news Darian Aaron. “O’Shae Sibley had the audacity to live without the restraints of patriarchy and toxic masculinity, embracing freedom and joy. He should still be alive to celebrate all that made him great and inspired others to live their truth.”
