Marvel's Ant-Man (Movie Update) Filming has officially begun for Marvel's Ant-Man. The studio released this image today, featuring our first look at Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, presumably from a scene near the beginning of the film, since we know that Lang will start out as a criminal. Robin Williams (1951-2014) Earlier today it was discovered that the beloved actor and comedian Robin Williams tragically took his own life. He was 63 years old. Such a tragedy, he always seemed so full of happiness, spirit and life, both on and off screen. Truly a loss for the industry, his fans, and most of all his family... Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 (Sequel Announced) After a strong opening weekend at the Box-Office, Michael Bay's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014) have been granted a sequel by Paramount. The film is set for June 3, 2016, less than two years away, with Michael Bay set to return as Producer. I haven't gotten a chance to go and see the new film yet, but I'm excited to see it. The Flash (Series Update) The CW has cast Clancy Brown (Sleepy Hollow) as General Wade Eiling in the upcoming new series The Flash. If you've ever seen the Justice League Animated Series, then you know the General (Voiced by J.K. Simmons) openly opposes the Justice Justice League and Superhmans. He also becomes a monster after taking a serum that he hopes will make him strong enough to render the Justice League useless. But in the process he becomes the very monster that him and the League have been fighting to destroy. Since the Flash is going to include a lot more sci-fi elements than the CW's Arrow, its possible that this could be the story arc they take for Browns character. We'll see! Fun Fact: Clancy Brown voiced the character Lex Luthor in Superman The Animated Series, The Batman Superman Movie, and the Justice League Animated Series. Young Justice (Series Update) Great News for fans of the short-lived Young Justice Series (not the BEST news ever, obviously that would be a season 3 announcement). The Complete 1st Season of Young Justice will be released on BluRay on August 12, next week Tuesday. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (Movie Update) Warner Bros. and DC have officially moved up the release date of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to March 25th, 2016. I know that doesn't sound like much, and you're right it's still feels like a lifetime away. But luckily, the film is no longer set to compete with Marvel Studios Captain America 3 on May 6, 2016. Marvel held their ground, and made it very clear that they would not back out of the May release date. And why should they? Marvel Studios has been busting their ass to consistently bring us a new film every year. Now they're giving us two, and in 2017 we'll get three. Meanwhile at DC, they're taking their dear sweet time with their Universe. Making us wait nearly three years for a follow-up, to the only film they've managed to produce so far. I've probably said this a thousand times by now. They need to kick it into high gear. Fun fact: Ever since the original Star Wars opened in May of 1977, its been the most coveted month for studios to release their movies. It began what we know call Summer Blockbusters. Why am I telling you this? Because Marvel Studios deserves that spot in May! They've earned it. DC?... We'll see! Venom Carnage (Movie Update) Sony has officially announced that the Amazing Spiderman Spinoff film 'Venom' has been changed to 'Venom Carnage'. The film will hit theaters in sometime in 2017, between The Sinister Six Film and The Amazing Spiderman 3, and Alex Kurtzman (Star Trek, The Amazing Spiderman 2) is set to direct the film. This of course confirms what fans have been hoping for ever since we saw Venom in Sam Raimi's Spiderman 3 (2007). Carnage! While Spiderman 3 wasn't well received, Venom certainly looked badass. Back when a Spiderman 4 was still being rumored, fans were positive that the new film would feature Carnage. Sadly, it was not meant to be. I personally am a fan of both these characters, I think they're awesome creations and I can't wait to see them onscreen. However, I know very little about their backgrounds, or their character origins, so I can't really speculate anything further. Needless to say, after the Sinister Six in 2016, Venom Carnage in 2017, and now a possible female led Spiderman Spinoff in 2017, The Amazing Spiderman 3 looks like its shaping up to be one massive film. Now I've already said multiple times how disappointed I was with the latest Spiderman film, and I'm hoping that they learn from their mistakes and handle these new films more carefully. Don't overcrowd them with a dozen subplots or an overload of characters. Stick to what's important! As for the title... I'm not to happy with the change-up. I would prefer they just call it 'Venom', and also have Carnage in the film. Because 'Venom Carnage' just sounds... Weird. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. X-Men: Apocalypse (Movie Update) In a recent interview, actress Fan Bingbing, who had the honor of playing the mutant Blink in X-Men: Days of Future Past, spoke about her contract with Fox Marvel and her character's future in the X-Men Franchise. Here's what she had to say: "I am contracted to appear in the next four X-Men films and it’s going to be really amazing,” she said through her translator. “In 14 years since the X-Men films started, this is the first time an Asian mutant is in the film. So, it’s going to be really interesting." Four more films! I can't speak for everyone, but I absolutely loved Blink in Days of Future Past, her power was so incredibly cool in battle, and I can't wait to see her character fleshed out more in the next four X-Men films. I'm hoping that they also bring back the other mutants from the beginning of the film, including Bishop and Sunspot, and give their characters some more screen time, as well as expand their story in the franchise. X-Men: Days of Future Past will be release on BluRay, BluRay 3D and DVD on October 14th, 2014. What do you guys think? Are you excited to see Blink return in four more X-Men films? Marcel's Daredevil (Series Update) Check out these new images of Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock in Marvel' upcoming Netflix series Daredevil. It's looking good so far. In very excited to see this show. With this being the first of 5 new Marvel Studios series on Netflix, Daredevil is the perfect choice to take the lead. Hopefully either Luke Cage, Iron Fist or Jessica Jones will be cast soon and we will get a release date for one of their series as well. Marcel's Daredevil Series will premiere with a 13 Episode Season on Netflix in May of next year. What do you guys think? Out of the 5 series to come, which one are you looking forward to the most? Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy (Movie Review *Minor Spoilers*) So last night I went out with my friends and we saw #GuardiansoftheGalaxy. We had a good time, we all thought the movie was great, but we also agreed that it was not the best #MCU film or the best #Marvel film ever made. This film is incredibly fun, with action and suspense that keeps you on the edge of your seat. The moment that Quill started dancing around In the cave during the opening title sequence, I was smiling from ear to ear. It's immensely funny and well acted. James Gunn was clearly allowed to make the film slightly edgier than previous Marvel films. I think we all knew that this movie was going to be very ambitious, and it was. Nearly everything in this film is new ground. I liked that they jumped right into the world they created, and threw us into the story. But at the same time, some of the characters and settings deserved more explanation and development. A lot of aspects of this new world, were really cool and creative. But there's a lot in this film that just wasn't explained very clearly. In a new world like this, I felt a bit lost in all the chaos. Ronan the Accuser... Not that well developed, just a regular old, power hungry bad guy. So that was a bit upsetting. One thing I didn't like was the Collector giving the Guardians a short backstory on the Infinity Stones. Why would he share this information with them? Especially if he himself is trying to collect them? Why not just buy it from them and be done with it? To me it seemed like a convenient excuse for the studio to give us a backstory on the Infinity Stones. I Do want to learn about them. But not like that! We also got our first full look at Thanos on screen! And he did not disappoint! It's hard to tell where the character and the story will go from here. No doubt part of it will deal with Quill's Father. For now I'm giving #GuardiansoftheGalaxy an 8/10.
