Rest in Peace, Tony.
I'll always remember your smile.

This is a perfect time to read the brilliant and unforgettable graphic novel(s) Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi, about growing up in Iran during and after the Iranian Revolution, and the rise of the oppressive theocracy that persists to this day.
Both graphic novels are available free online (Persepolis vol. 1, Persepolis vol. 2)
It also was adapted to a wonderful film (co-directed and co-written by the author) which is available to watch for free on Sundance Now (sign up for the free trial)
Even in the offseason its still the seattle torment
On today’s episode of my Meryl re-watching spree
Postcards from the Edge 👌
What a fantastic film!
And in my opinion one of her most quotable, there are some absolute classics in there I have so many favourites🤣 I’ve not watched it for yeaaars but I can still recite the lines like it was yesterday.
“I’m checkin’ out” is a TUNE why is it not on my music streaming service?
Suzanne’s sarcasm & humour are everything and probably a big contributing factor in my own dark sense of humour to be honest 😅 I fucking love her.
Her hair and wardrobe in this are fabulous, I personally want to recreate the denim jacket and skirt combo she looks gorgeous 😍
Postcards from the Edge was adapted for the screen by the fabulous Carrie Fisher, from her book with the same title. The screenplay was deservedly nominated for a BAFTA. I highly recommend the book. I’ve read it numerous times and those quotable lines are all in the book. There is a follow up book of sorts called Delusions of Grandma which is almost as good.
awww the like button turns into a rainbow when you press it! that's so cute...hey staff what's with all the trans women you keep nuking?
i think we should be ridiculing them more for this. you don't get to try and go all "queer website" when your staff likes to go on nuking sprees targeting the trans fem users
would be remiss not to mention that the rainbow notably straight up just removed the trans flag colors from it. like they’re gone. it’s the progress flag minus the trans flag colors.
that’s not the whole flag, now is it
hey staff what the fuck
hey staff don't you think you're being too on-the-nose
HEY STAFF DONT YOU THINK YOU'RE BEING TOO ON-THE-NOSE
happy Barely Keeping It Together Wednesday to all who celebrate
Bit random but is it fair to say that Nnadozie was probably the best goalkeeper in the WSL this season but at the same time acknowledge that I still have massive reservations about her as a goalkeeper from a technical and tactical point of view and the FA Cup final is the perfect example of that? Maybe Yamashita was another good one but the other goalkeepers were just mid to outright bad and that's not a knock on women's goalkeepers in general but an issue I had for years with the WSL (and other leagues in Europe). Invest. In. Goalkeeping. The difference to the NWSL is crazy were I'm pretty sure every team has at least one full-time goalkeeping coach some even multiple. The difference in like purely athletic ability is sometimes really shocking to see as well. The positioning, the reading of the game is just so off and it's not that I don’t think these players are capable but they are just not given the opportunity. Peyraud-Magnin, the starting goalkeeper for France, has not played a single minute for Denver because Abby Smith, a very solid american goalkeeper who has never played for the USWNT, is just way better. MacIver only plays for Spirit because Kingsbury is pregnant and she has cost them multiple games including a final already. Many Orlando fans have wanted to replace Moorhouse for years and the only reason she's starting is her connections to the english goalkeeping coach there. The only goalkeepers brought into the NWSL from other leagues who had success so far are Berger and I guess after a very rocky start and Portland fans in the stadium not even wanting her to play Mackenzie Arnold has finally found her footing as well. PTJ had been rightfully benched at Seattle and replaced by Dickey and immediately won the goalkeeper award in the FA team of the season despite her obvious deficiencies. I don't think the US is naturally better at developing goalkeepers but they develop great athletes and at least at pro level put more into coaching. I recently read in an interview with Laura Dick that Hoffenheim just employed a full-time goalkeeping coach this season and she attributes her big development this past year to that. Results are felt quite quickly because goalkeeping is so much about repetition and muscle memory. Rant over sorry 😭
LET IT ALL OUT ANON 🤣
But in all seriousness? I agree with what you wrote. You won't find me arguing about the NWSL's GK quality (I've touted it as best in the world for a reason, the USWNT has a strong history of GK depth since its inception) and how it IS the best in the world.
The only thing I'll disagree with you on, but only slightly, is that I think Yamashita was the best GK in the WSL. But she's also one of the best in the world and is one of the most athletic, too. Underrated stuff from Ayaka daily. She kept City's bacon saved multiple times.
By my count, BC sang 83 songs this weekend onstage, and that’s not including any rehearsals or soundchecks
ADHD affects how I experience time, not how I experience attachment. I love you. I miss you. I just don't realize how long it’s been since I last said that, let alone messaged.
I understand that most normal functioning brains need regular engagement to maintain a bond. Absence doesn’t diminish my affection. My silence isn’t neglect or disinterest. It’s time blindness and object impermanence. The contact gap is purely neurological, not emotional. Thank you for being patient with my inconsistency and holding a seat in your heart for me.
Happy Pride!
Every pride, you must reblog this. No exceptions
I love that four different people on my feed scheduled this joyous person to reblog by 8am on June 1. I look forward to seeing this a dozen more times today.
do not forget the patron saint of these weeks that we celebrate ourselves proudly and openly in the streets
her name was Marsha P Johnson, and we have her to thank for so much.
remember, the first Pride was a riot, and she was one of the brave souls who endured it to help carve the path which so many of us walk today. she helped found several activist groups regarding LGBT safety and wellbeing. and she was absolutely radiant, too.
thank you, Marsha. we remember you.
