Just some Tyranid musings.
The Neurocyte; the little Tyranid bug we see attached to Neurogaunts and Barbgaunts. Not exactly a new thing; a lot of Tyranid Biomorphs are parasites that attach to bigger creatures (adrenaline glands and toxin sacs for example), though this is more or less the first time we've seen parasites that control the other creature.
Well, aside from the Exocrine, but in this case the gun is controlling the beast and telling it where to aim.
With the rumours of Knight sized Tyranid beasties coming in a couple of months, including a colossal leader type best, I'm wondering if we will see something akin to the old Epic 40k Dominatrix.
For context; the large beast is not the synapse creature. It's the pale thing in the cradle on the beast's back that is the true eldritch horror of the Hive Mind. In the lore, that creature is a Norn Queen or a puppet clone of one.
Makes me think about this artwork, which supposedly is a Norn Emissary.
What I find interesting is the differences between the taloned forelegs and the creature's human-like arms
One is chitenous the other looks like skin.
One is the colour of Leviathan Tyranids the other is pale - ghostly white even. With no carapace plates or muscle fibre openings or anything.
Makes me further wonder if what we are seeing in this artwork is the same kind of symbiotic creature as the Dominatrix, but with the synapse creature on the underside - either attaching itself or being carried.
🤔
Bottom line is I'm excited to see what Tyranids are going to get.
