Wei Wuxian's first meeting with teenage Jin Ling just gets funnier every time. Especially because, by this point, he should have a rough idea of how long it's been since he died, and he immediately recognizes Jin Ling as a member of the Jin Sect, clearly an important one if he's bossing other people around and spending absurd amounts of money on spiritual nets. If Wei Wuxian had spent A SINGLE MINUTE actively trying to guess this kid's identity, he probably could have worked out that this kid has a high chance of being his nephew.
But Wei Wuxian does not take the time (thirty seconds! WWX, you could have made an educated guess!) to figure out this kid's specific identity! He's just been wrestling with an incredibly stubborn donkey all day and he's probably hangry again because they had to share an apple. He just thinks to himself, "Wow, this Jin kid is a real spoiled brat," and goes from there!
"Didn't your mother ever teach you any manners?" he says obliviously to JIN LING, his own fucking nephew. When Jin Ling is FAMOUSLY ORPHANED. Like, you could go up to literally anyone on the street and be like, "What happened to that rich kid Jin Ling's parents?" and they would immediately tell you, "Oh, the evil Yiling Patriarch killed them, evilly." Very high chance that no one has ever said anything like this to Jin Ling - extremely rich young master, most famous orphan in the cultivation world, in possession of some very scary uncles - before.
And from Jin Ling's perspective, this outrageous comment is coming from his OWN UNCLE, Mo Xuanyu, his late grandfather's bastard son who was kicked out of the sect for being gay and crazy. There is NO WAY that Mo Xuanyu could somehow not know that Jin Ling has no parents, so of course, this has to be an intentional low-blow insult bringing up and disparaging his dead mother. So, of course this brat tries to start a fight! Mo Xuanyu started it with words like that!
And then Wei Wuxian trips him and essentially sits on him (using a talisman), there's the whole "My uncle is going to kill you!" & "Who's your uncle?" exchange, and Jiang Cheng immediately interrupts them. And Wei Wuxian has to do the sudden, incredibly simple, damning mental calculation of: "Jin kid + Jiang Cheng for an uncle = Oh, fuck."
It's funny every single time.

Ways Lan Zhan is also dumb when it comes to his feelings for Wei Ying:
(I'm only talking about the show. Please do not come at me in the comments about the book)
This man has the worst timing in the world when it comes to being honest about his feelings. Numerous times he has admitted to his feelings while Wei Wuxian: is distracted(and not the usual adhd Wwx distracted, but genuinely hes busy right now Lan Zhan!) about to die or is dying, sick, traumatized and angry. Oh the angry ones especially, like Lan Zhan really! "Come to gusu with me." While it's obvious how Wei Ying is super angry traumatized and just tortured his enemies. It's fucking worse than the first time Mr Darcy proposed in pride and prejudice 2005. Lan Zhan I know you don't care about others opinions, but buddy learn to read a room.
The man does not know how to say what he means clearly. I get it he speaks little and mainly in one worded answers. I love the clear autism in my Lan Zhan. But man there are better one worded answers you can give! Most of the miscommunication happens because you use the same wrong words at the worst moments.
Lan Zhan clearly misreads Wei Ying's care and actions towards him, just as much as Wei Ying does him. My dude yeah the guy flirts a lot but its never personal and there's always clearly a motive when Wwx flirts with anyone else. With you, he just wants your attention. Your personal attention. He constantly wants to be around you. And yes he's kind and protective. But again when he's being kind and protective to you he makes it personal. He makes sure he doesn't cross your boundaries too much. Especially when you start to become friends. And he pushes you when you need to be pushed. Yet this guy and his jealous ass will pout and get angry when Wei Wuxian isn't paying attention to him 24/7(which is adorable and hilarious because everyone is constantly going how perfect Lan Zhan is).
This man's go to reaction to his first crush is a sword fight, a forcibly silent spell, giving the I want to kill you look, and constantly ignoring his crush or walking away at first. Clearly Wei Wuxian is going to think you dislike him. Especially in gusu. You keep giving the boy mixed signal. What else is he suppose to think.
I just really love it that Lan Zhan as well is so clearly dumb when it comes to his feelings about Wei Ying. Especially considering Lan Zhan is supposed to be the perfect twin jade of lan. Cold and unfeeling and is basically a monk. The pedestal and the aim that everyone must strive for to be a cultivator. Yet he's not. He's an awkward, angry, jealous and a silly man when it comes to love and feelings as anyone else. More so because of where Lan Zhan grew up and his parents.

THE UNTAMED | episode 25
FOOD DISCOURSE: reblog with ur opinions on guacamole, olives, mango, hummus, tomatoes, and cannolis
I just finished Story of Kunning Palace
to me these were the pros: -the OST -hot hot hot people (special shout out to the princess and zhang zhe, i just finished perfect match and seeing Liu XieNing and Wang XingYue back to back was awesome) - honorable mention to yan lin, whose actor looks like a young xiao zhan and i was into it
uhm... that's it really
cons: again, for ME. - I'm 100% not a red flag guy kinda girl and like, xie wei was a toxic waste in human form - to be honest, i think they flubbed the whole 3 way romance plot pretty hard. they spent so long on relationships that weren't end game ( catch me wishing she chose yan lin or zhang zhe) AND they didn't spend enough time selling me that she fell for xie wei
it was literally suddenly for some reason now she loves him
-i was livid that this show has the hottest kiss i've seen yet in cdramas and it was in a non consensual setting :/ -killing You Fangyin - oh please COME OOOOON!!! Jian Shu got two sword hits to the chest and he's alive but we have to fridge the sweet girl who has nothing to do with anything
anyway, after 38 episodes i still don't know if i'd say i liked it or not, i guess i just would say i wouldn't vehemently recommend it
I humbly offer hualian angst
Watching him look all nonchalant and languid, Shi Qingxuan said awkwardly, “Um, sorry for the intrusion. I didn’t think you guys…hahaha, you two are pretty much, hahaha. Anyway, just, hahaha.”
