i think “video games aren’t really the violent child-corrupting threat some parents worry they are” and “certain circles of gamer culture are incredibly toxic and can lead people down dangerous/hateful ideological rabbit holes” are ideas that can absolutely coexist
also, I think we could probably recognize that like… there is a difference between a game where you beat up a half demon alien cyborg or whatever, and a game partially funded by the US military that glorifies hyper-realistic military operations in a “middle east” coded setting, where everyone with brown skin is an enemy that needs to be gunned down. Like, those things are different.
Hello! I am mass deleting my posts to start over and make this blog less random memes and more... I don’t really know yet but more something
If whatever I do here is not to your taste then please unfollow! I hold no grudges and probably won’t notice since I’m not the most interactive mutual anyways
Nobody wanted a list of the WORST pokemon ship names, but... here ya go. An enjoyable read for non-pokemon fans as well-and a look into our BULLSHIT SHIP NAME SYSTEM. pt 1
This is worst ship NAMES, not worst ships. I mean, there are plenty of those, but that’s another post lmao.
First off is either the best or worst, and I genuinely can’t tell. Brocketshipping is the ship between Brock and Team Rocket/Jessie/James. ON one hand, it’s kind of hilarious. On the other hand, it’s fucking Brocketshipping.
Buttshipping. Gold/Green. I don’t need to explain myself here.
Next, we have Comashipping. Ash/Paul. What? For those who don’t know, there are approximately zero comas in the show. I have no idea why this is called that.
Next... Daddyshipping. Ash/Samuel oak. Yeah. Not much to say here.
Alexandrianshipping. Volkner and Jasmine. Huh? Like, the Virginia county? The library? The greek/roman dude? Make it make sense.
BadTasteshipping. Ash/Burgundy. Well, that’s just mean to BadTasteshippers. Like, hey, your ship sucks.
Betelgeuseshipping. Mars/Cyrus. So, I had to look up what a betelgeuse was. Suprisingly, it isn’t a bad spelling of beetlejuice, but a star. The more you know.
BlondeLeadershipping. Clemont/Korrina. It’s named that because... well, they’re blond gym leaders. Zero points for creativity.
DressedInPinkshipping. Bede/Gloria. Gloria doesn’t even wear that much pink.
Edgyshipping. Gladion/Marnie. Ok, this one’s kind of funny.
Flavescentshipping- Trip/Iris. Had to look this one up, too- Flavescent means yellow or turning yellow, which clears up absolutely nothing. Maybe they both have Jaundice.
Folkloreshippping-Lyra and Morty. So, the name isn’t bad, per se, it just makes me think of the Taylor Swift album. Which is actually great. Evermoreshipping when?
GeekChicshipping- Clemont and Serena. Say that five times fast. I always end up at geekcheekcheeping.
Googleshipping- Ash and Giselle. The Giselle episode aired in 97 I think, a year before Google was a thing??? Huh???
GreenEyeshipping- James and Misty. Again, zero points for shipping characters with green eyes and calling it greeneyeshipping.
Handymanshipping- Tracey and Daisy. Like, Daisy, Misty’s sister? Did these two ever even interact? Where does the handyman come in? I think I missed this episode at some point.
Love love LOVE how the young women in the top gif looks at Tays hands, wondering if they can touch them but respecting her boundaries enough not to - then Taylor opens her hand signaling she wants physical contact and you can see the smile on their face as they accept the invitation my heart is SMILING
Ya know… thinking about it… npcs in botw are always saying how the hero, Link, was the one who saved hyrule, but really he ran away with Zelda. He ran as far away from the danger as he could get her and in the end it was Zelda who ended up saving everyone. Zelda was the real hero and now Link, a century later is the one trying to prove himself again.
I mean, I don’t blame the NPCs they probably all think Zelda is dead or died sacrificing herself save Hyrule and no one else really knew that the Princess had survived when Link didn’t, because the Shrine of Resurrection was pretty much a mystery to those not in the know and there wasn’t exactly anyone there to record what happened and they can’t even prove that it did. Not really. I mean, yeah, we, the players know what happened but only because Link was told the truth, remembered it, or at the very least, knew that Zelda was the one keeping the Calamity at bay.
In the book Creating a Champion, you can see the route Link and Zelda traveled once the Calamity struck. They ran all the way from the Lanayru Gate to Castle Town, then about-faced and took off into the forest.
This was all after Daruk gave Link the order to go straight to Ganon, but once he and Zelda saw it was a lost cause at the Castle, Link had a choice to make: Either charge ahead after Ganon as he was ordered to, or get Zelda to safety.
And for once, Link disobeyed orders. He turned his back on his destiny. Because Zelda meant more to him than any of that. And he knew that she was the one who needed to survive to save them all, not him.
For once, the hero was going to fail to save Hyrule. And he was okay with that. As long as he saved Zelda.
the flu shot doesn't not work at all, it just doesn't protect against infections as well for this year's dominant flu strain. I don't think you're fear-mongering at all but I think it's oversimplifying to state that the flu shot this year doesn't work at all
yeah i clarified that in a subsequent ask it’s just all so frustrating like i feel like i am living in a pit of disease and i’m tired of caring and i’m tired of this pandemic and i’m tired between constantly oscillating between terrified and fine and i’m tired of wanting to take care of myself while also taking care of my community and i! am! just! so! tired!
having memory issues isn’t just forgetting things.
having memory issues is memories lost or never made.
having memory issues is things poorly remembered or partially remembered.
having memory issues is remembering things the wrong way or in the wrong order.
having memory issues is recalling everything except for the parts you want to remember or remembering everything but the useful bits.
having memory issues is remembering things that actually happened as if they didn’t or remembering things that never happened as if they did.
having memory issues isn’t just an “old person thing” and having them when you’re “too young” doesn’t mean that you either have to have some romanticized tragedy in your past or else you’re just not trying hard enough or not paying enough attention. memory issues can stem from age, illness, injury, trauma, genetics, socialization, expectation, medication, any number or combination of things. other people not thinking that your memory should be a mess doesn’t make it any less of a mess and doesn’t make it your fault that it is.
We so, so desperately need disheveled, pathetic, ratty, unhinged-but-not-in-a-girlboss-way women in media. Women who are just the worst, schlubbiest bags of garbage you’ve ever seen. Only then can we have feminism
