“HEY!” Clint’s voice cuts through the chaos, and he’s waving from a ridge above, “Glad you could make it” he jokes, causing you to roll your eyes but smile at the same time.
“Would you look at that,” Tony’s voice crackles over the comms, of course as smug as ever. “Our wayward hacker and her melodramatic boyfriends survived. I guess my odds were a bit pessimistic.”
“Still taking bets on your survival, Stark?” you say breathless.
Natasha lands beside Clint,. “Get your asses up here. Your welcome party’s getting bored.”
Thor’s laughter rumbles through the comms. “This is glorious!
“Yeah, yeah big guy, just keep the Shakespeare for later, Thunderboy!” you call out, letting Bucky help you stagger forward.
Loki’s arm is still around you, his expression guarded, but the way his fingers tighten around your shoulder speaks volumes.
You stand before Steve, his usual worried expression etched on his face. “You did good, Y/N.”
“Define good,” you mutter, shaking ash out of your hair.
“Breathing is a pretty good start,” he smiles.
Bucky’s chuckle is low, his hand slides to the small of your back.
Loki’s smile is faint, “Indeed. I’ve invested far too much time into correcting your stubbornness.”
You roll your eyes, leaning against him. “If that’s your idea of correcting, Trickster god, your methods need work.”
“An excellent suggestion. Shall we test some new methods tonight?” he purrs.
You pretend to consider. “If you survive the next base, maybe.”
Sam’s voice crackles over the comms again. “Hey, lovebirds, the explosions are great and all, but maybe we should move before the whole place becomes a crater and us with it?”
You turn, staring at the burning ruin of the Hydra base. For a moment, the fire reflects in your eyes, and you feel the weight of it, they tried to destroy you But you’re here and you’re alive.
“Let’s go,” you say, turning back to your team…your family.

The first explosion rocks the base, fire racing down the corridors, glass shattering.
“Time to go!” Bucky yells, his hand tightening around yours.
You turn, letting him pull you,
But just before you leave and you look back and watch the base being swallowed in a storm of fire.
As the base crumbles behind you, the roar of fire and collapsing metal is deafening .
Bucky’s grip on your hand is bruising, pulling you through the smoke filled corridors.
Loki’s magic pulses around you, a shimmering barrier that keeps the worst of the falling debris from hitting the three of you.
“Faster, Pet!” Loki shouts, fear buried beneath the command.
“I am trying!” you snap, choking on the smoke.
“Oh, I wasn’t aware, do you need an engraved invitation?” he bites back, his hand lashing out to pull you closer as another section of the ceiling caves in.
Bucky twists around, his voice a growl. “Less flirting, more running!”
“Is that what you call flirting, Barnes?” Loki sneers, deflecting a burst of falling debris with a wave of green light.
“Sure. She insults you, you insult her it’s textbook flirting.”
“I will bury you in that rubble,” Loki snarls, but there’s a flicker of a smile beneath the chaos.
You skid around a corner, the fresh air slamming into you like a blessing. The exit now in sight
But then the base gives one final shuddering roar, and the ground pitches beneath you. You’re airborne for a heartbeat, then hit the ground hard, your vision blurring.
“Y/N!”
Bucky is there in an instant, his metal arm hauling you up like you weigh nothing. Loki’s beside you, his magic crackling as he glares at the dying base.
“Come on, Doll. No dramatic sacrifices today,” Bucky whispers, his voice rough with relief.
Loki’s gaze meets yours, fierce and unyielding. “You promised me you would not die without my permission.”
You can’t help but laugh, coughing as smoke curls around you. “Sorry forgot to ask for approval. Next time.”
The sky outside is a brutal orange, the fire reflecting off the clouds. Stark’s drones swoop overhead, firing into the remaining guard lines. Sam’s wings cut through the smoke like a silver blade, and you catch a flash of red lightning as Wanda’s magic rips through a distant tower

The base is a fortress of cold steel and flickering monitors with alarms wailing everywhere.
Gunfire echoes down the corridors, but it’s just background noise that barely registers for you.
Your boots pound against the cold metal floors, and you barely notice the blood splattered across your armor or the bodies of Hydra guards crumpling around you.
Bucky’s voice crackles through your comms. “Doll, slow down! We’re supposed to be a team!”
You don’t respond. You don’t even slow down
Loki’s magic flares, a wave of emerald light that disintegrates a squad of armed guards trying to flank you. He curses under his breath, sprinting after you. “Pet, this is not a solo mission!”
But to you it feels like one.
A guard jumps in front of you, shaking his gun raised. He barely manages to get out a breath before your knife is in his chest, and you twist it without flinching.
Your anger consumes you they tried to own you they tried to mske you theirs. and now..... you will destroy them
You can already hear the explosions, feel the tremor of detonations as Tony’s drones unleash hell outside.
But none of that matters.
Not until you reach the control room.
“Y/N!” Bucky’s voice is louder now maybe closer, but you don't have time to think about that now. His metal arm rips a door off its hinges as he barrels through to catch up, blue eyes wild with fear. “Y/N WaiT, please!” He pleads.
Loki’s magic pulls a Hydra agent off his feet, slamming him into a wall, but his eyes are only on you. “Y/N!”
But your mind is a storm, one which you can't control.
And then you reach it.
The control room doors are in front of you, they are sealed shut, but nothing can hold you back now. You slam your boot into the panel, sparks fly, and the doors groan open.
Inside, a terrified technician scrambles back, hands up, tears streaking his face.
“Please, I’m just an engineer! I didn’t...I didn’t want to...”
Your gun is already raised your gaze cold and steady.
“Y/N, wait!” Bucky’s voice rings out desperate.
But you don’t hear it.
Loki appears beside you, breathless, his hand reaching out, but he hesitates. His voice drops trying to sound quiet and calm. “Darling….”
You feel a crack, a flicker a break in the rage.
Your finger tightens on the trigger, but the world is starting to bleed in, sounds sharpening, your heart is pounding
“Please…” the technician whispers.
Loki’s voice pleads. “Look at me, Y/N.”
You do. Your gaze meets his, and the cold rage in your chest wavers.
“They didn’t break you,” he whispers. “Don’t become them.”
Your grip on the gun loosens, then it clatters to the ground.
Bucky is beside you in an instant, his metal arm wrapping around you, pulling you back. You feel his heartbeat its steady.
The technician scrambles away, sobbing.
Loki steps closer, his hand resting against your cheek, his touch warm and real. “It’s over, Pet.”

You wake to the hum of machines and the low murmur of voices. Your body aches, stitched together by Bruce and pure stubborness.
“She’s waking up,” Bruce says quietly, stepping back.
You blink against the soft lighting. The ceiling is sleek and unfamiliar, but the voice that follows makes your chest clench.
“Took you long enough,” Clint smirks from the foot of your bed, arms crossed. “Was starting to think you just wanted to get out of mission reports.”
“Still might,” you rasp.
Natasha hands you a glass of water, her expression is soft but guarded. “You gave us quite a scare.”
You sip slowly, catching sight of the others filtering in. Sam leans in the doorway. Steve pulls up a chair. Tony’s scrolling something aggressively on a tablet trying to look like he doesn't care.
And then there’s Bucky, standing just behind them. He's silent and watchful. His hands are shoved into his pockets like he doesn’t know what to do with them.
Loki is leaning against the far wall he flicks his fingers lazily. “She lives. How disappointing for our enemies.”
Your voice is dry your throat hoarse . “If you start reciting poetry, I’m pulling this IV and walking out.”
“I missed you too, Pet,” he purrs.
You shift upright, flinching slightly. Steve moves to help, but you wave him off.
Tony doesn’t look up. “While Sleeping Beauty was on her spa retreat, we managed to intercept a Hydra comms satellite. Guess what we found?”
A map lights up behind him red dots flickering across continents.
“Ten hidden bases,” he says, voice clipped. “All lighting up after you went dark. They’re moving assets. Preparing for something big.”
“Then we have to hit them first,” you say, all the softness gone from your voice.
“Whoa, sunshine,” Sam says. “You just got out of a torture chamber. Maybe let your bones heal first?”
You glare at him. “They didn’t break me. They just pissed me off.”
There’s a pause. Then Bucky speaks, low and rough: “They’re scared. That’s why they moved. We can use that.”
Loki steps closer to you. “What do you say we put an end to their little game?”
Tony finally glances up. “We’re planning coordinated strikes.”
“I want in,” you say.
Natasha looks at you. “You sure you’re ready?”
Your smile. “I was born ready. I just needed a nap.” you shrug.
You all gathered in the small conference room Maps and blueprints sprawled across the table, digital projections flicker in midair. Red dots marked old Hydra nests. Green ones marked SHIELD bunkers still loyal to Fury. Yellow… those were the ones still unknown.
Steve stands at the head of the table, arms crossed his jaw tight. “We’ve tracked encrypted communications between several facilities. The pattern loops every six hours, someone’s moving resources fast.”
Tony leans back in his chair, spinning it slightly. “I intercepted two of their dead drops. Cloaked in a SHIELD proxy, but it’s Hydra tech. Amateur hour. Honestly, if Hydra’s going to pretend to be us, they could at least try to code like me.”
Natasha rolls her eyes. “Keep stroking your ego, Stark. It’s the only thing that gets bigger.”
“I’m not even going to touch that one,” Clint mutters, twirling a knife between his fingers.
Clint’s blade slams into the map, right over a mountainous region in Eastern Europe.
“Here,” he says, . “They’re funneling weapons and prisoners through a decommissioned SHIELD base. Supposed to be offline since 2014 but the Intel says otherwise.”
A heavy silence falls. Then Thor slams Mjolnir onto the table. “Then it falls.”
Steve moves around the table, nodding to each person.
“Nat, Clint, Y/N you’re infiltration. Make it quiet make it fast. Get in and disable security. Pull any prisoners you find. Thor, Sam, Bucky, frontline, cause a scene. Keep them distracted and let them know we’re done hiding.”
“Loki and Wanda you’re disruption. Take out their power grid. Mess with their minds. Keep them disoriented.”
Tony points at himself. “And what’s my role? Cheerleader?”
“You’re on overwatch and drone control,” Steve said without missing a beat. “Also… fireworks.” Steve smirks.
Tony grinned. “Now that I can do.”
In the ready room the sound of armor snapping into place, gloves, guns, gaunlets getting ready fill the air. Loki’s cape swirled dramatically for no reason other than drama.
You zip up your tactical vest and check your sidearm, and catch Loki watching you and you smile.
He smirks, stepping closer. “Do try not to get kidnapped again, Pet. It’s getting rather repetitive.”
You raise your eyebrow. “Try not to get banished mid-mission, Trickster.”
Bucky checks his combat knife his face cool and collected. “Let’s make some noise,” he says his voice low.
Clint slides his quiver into place. “Oh, we’re making an entrance.”
Thor grins like a wolf. “A glorious one.”
Jet engines roar on the landing pad as you all make your way out to board.
You look back once at the Tower, then at the people beside you, Your friends, your family and you smile.
“Let’s bring hydra down.” you state.

You see Loki looking at Bucky. And then the truth hits you.
“Oh God… what did they”
Bucky’s hand tightens on yours.
“They replaced you, Y/N. but not all of you….They” He stops, his voice breaking before he can finish.
Loki says nothing. He just pulls you into his chest, his heartbeat the only sound you can hear.
You’re dying inside. what they’ve done to you the pain you’ve endured, it all floods back. The feeling of being replaced, of them tearing pieces of you away and replacing them with someone else…
Tears sting the corners of your eyes, but you don’t let them fall. Not yet. Not until you have the strength to stand again. You want revenge. You want to break everything they’ve built, to destroy Hydra and SHIELD.
“Get me out of here,” you manage to whisper.
Loki looks down at you. “Rest, darling,” he murmurs softly. “We’ll destroy it together.”
And for the first time in what feels like forever, you allow yourself to close your eyes again. But it’s not peace you find. It’s the weight of war. Of knowing what they’ve done to you.
FLASHBACK – HYDRA HOLDING CELL
You’re strapped down again.
But you’ve stopped screaming.
Not because it hurts less but because they don’t deserve your screams anymore.
The lights above you buzz and your skin is on fire.
And still, they prod.
“She’s glitching again.”
“Increase neural recalibration. Wipe it. All of it.” you hear the command
FLASHBACK – THE LIE
Another simulation.
This time, they send a copy of Loki.
“It’s alright, pet,” he says. “Come back to us. Just say the words.”
You almost do.
You almost say, I comply.
But the hands are wrong. his eyes don’t shine the way they normally do. you eyes narrow in on them, you know this isn't your Loki
You spit blood.
“Nice try, you sadistic bastards.”
Present
The memory ends with your chest rising too fast. Only this time you didn’t remain the dark
Your eyes open. youre Alive, but not whole.
your Breath is shallow. your body shattered. “They didn’t get me,” you rasped..
“They tried to turn me into a monster,” you said, locking eyes with Bucky. “But they forgot something… you smile.
“I’m not the next Winter Soldier. I’m the first Y/Avenger/N.”
Somewhere in a Hydra server farm, a single file blinked:
SUBJECT: Y/H/N
Status: Unleashed.

FLASHBACK – THE CHAIR
“She’s stabilizing. Increase the voltage.” you heard the voice speak.
Your body convulsed. Straps biting into your wrists, your spine arching under the current, you tried to scream, but couldn't.
Your eyes flickered to a screen above you, showing your past missions, your life.
“You’re not special,” a handler sneered. “You’re just useful.”
Another surge ripped through you, making your vision turn white. “We can strip the body. Rewrite the mind.” the same voice stated.
Present
Your fingers twitched. Loki’s hand caught yours instantly trying to ground you.
“She’s fighting it,” he said, his voice grim.
FLASHBACK – THE IMPOSTOR
There were no restraints now, no chair. You were upright but you were not in control.
A mirror stood in front of you. The reflection wasnt yours though.
You wore black tactical gear with the Hydra insignia on y9our breast.
Your eyes they were cold and dead eye.
“What’s your designation?”
You tried to scream, but your mouth answered on its own: “Subject Y/Hydra/N. Ready for deployment.”
Behind you, a cold figure stood with a smile that would make anyone shake in fear. It was silent its eyes locked on yours.
But it wasn’t any figure. It was you.
Present
“They didn’t want her dead,” Natasha said, throwing down a pile of files . “They wanted her to replace him," she nodfs at Bucky " it took awhile but we managed to track these down”
Bucky turned. “What the hell does that mean?”
“They’re calling her Y/H/N. A Mind-wiped assassin. Modelled after the Winter Soldier.”
Loki’s gaze sharpened. “They’re fools if they think they can control her, or tourture her in to obedience.”
Natasha didn’t look at him when she sighed. “They already did..... For weeks.”
FLASHBACK – SAFEHOUSE BEFORE THE FALL
You were barefoot in the kitchen, you were wearing one of the boys shirts, making breakfast. Loki’s arm looped lazily around your waist.
Bucky’s chin rested on your shoulder, his breath brushing your skin.
“She likes my eggs better,” Bucky muttered.
“She feels sorry for your tragic seasoning skills,” Loki countered.
You laughed. Your laugh.
Then static filled the room and then a scream.
And then the memory was torn from your mind.
Present
Your world returned but it was too bright the light too harsh. The hum of machines you should never have needed was loud.
A cough wracked your body and blood spilled from your mouth again.
Your throat burned. The incision at the back of your head throbbed, but worse was the silence. That quiet, terrible stillness.
“You’re awake,” Loki said, softly. Too softly. He never spoke like that.
You tried to turn, but Bucky’s hand held you down gentle, but firm.
“Don’t speak,” Bucky said. They took you. But we got you back.” His eyes said the rest you could see the rage and guilt “You’re safe, Doll.”

You couldn't open your eyes but you could hear the beeping of monitors ringing in your ears.
“She’s crashing bring the crash cart!” you heard someone yell.
You were floating somewhere between the screaming of pain in your body and the silence and numbness.
And then you heard it,
A voice.
it was faint but familiar. It was him.
“Come on, Doll, stay with me. Don’t you give up now.”
You tried to move. Pain tore through every one of your nerves nerve like lightning.
“Bucky?” you rasped. “That you, Sergeant?”
His voice cracked. “Yeah, doll. I’m here.”
“Tell Loki… I didn’t kneel,” you coughed. “Tell him I didn’t give in.”
Loki was already there but he was silent. He didn’t speak when he was afraid, it was beneath him. But now?
“She remembered,” he whispered. “She remembered us.” he says to Bucky.
A surgeon stepped in, trying to push the men out of the way . “She’s hemorrhaging we have to sedate”
“No more sedatives!” Bucky barked.
“She needs to rest!” the surgeon argued.
“She needs to know we’re here,” Loki growled, stepping forward. Magic igniting along his fingers, curling into protection runes. “Back. Away.”
You blinked up at them. Your world was tilting sideways, black creeped into the edges of your vision. You clung to Bucky’s hand trying to anchor yourself.
“Did I burn it all?” you asked your voice low and desperate.
Bucky leaned in pressing his forehead against yours, the words wrecking him. “You did, Doll. You burned them to the fucking ground.”
Later…
You woke, blinking at the dim lights. Yiou felt a warm hand on yours. Loki’s thumb gently brushed across your knuckles.
“You’re safe,” he murmured sensing you were awake. “You’re home.”
Another voice broke in, it was rougher, closer to breaking. “Barely.”
You turned your head. Bucky sat slouched in the chair, his hoodie wrinkled, his hair a mess, his eyes red.
“You stayed,” you whispered.
“Always,” he said.
You let the silence stretch, you let the pain settle.
“They tried to turn me.” you whispered.
Loki’s hand tightened around yours.
“But they couldn’t,” you said softly. “Because I never forgot. Not really.”
Bucky stood walking over to you and leant in close, his voice was low. “Then let’s make sure they never get the chance again.”
You nodded. And for the first time in weeks, you felt something solid beneath you. Not safety. Not peace. But vengeance.
And you know it would be beautiful

Outside he Quinjet roughly landed. Tony didn’t wait for clearance. He was already off the ramp, his repulsors charged. Steve, Natasha, Clint, Sam, Bucky, and Loki followed quickly behind him.
But the smoke was already thick. The sky above the base was burning.
“No way she did this alone,” Sam muttered.
But Bucky wasn’t listening. He was running towards the fire.
Loki’s face was unreadable as he ran beside him.
They reached the entrance of the facility And there you were.
Kneeling in the rubble. Your body caked in blood and covered in ash. You didn't notice them, your eyes were blank and unfocused. Your hands trembled, but not from fear, but from overload.
Steve took a cautious step forward. “Y/N?”
You raised your head slowly and blinked slow.
“You took your time cap,” you laughed Then you collapsed.
When you were finally back at base you were brought straight to the medical bay. as they started to clean you up and started to treat the wounds, only then did they realise the seriousness of the situation
“What the hell did they do to her?” Clint asked quietly, watching from the edge.
Natasha was already cataloguing the wounds. Electroshock burns. Restraint damage. Neural trauma. Programming ports.
Tony hovered beside the bed his jaw clenched.
“They tried to turn her.” Bucky said darkly. “and they succeeded. Just not the way they wanted.”
Loki didn’t speak. He just reached out, gently brushing a piece of hair from your face, some blood still smeared on your temple.
“What happens when she wakes up?” Sam asked.
“I don't know if that's a question we want answered just yet. nat whispered

The lights overhead flickered. You’d lost track of time. How long had it been minutes, hours evendays? Your wrists were rubbed raw against the restraints. The burn of electricity stillhummed under your skin..
You weren’t strapped to just a table anymore. No, this was a chair built for someone strong. Too strong to break without help. Though it didn't stop you from trying.
The man in the suit returned, clipboard in hand like this was some damn science fair. “Still fighting. That’s good,” he mused. “Means the neural interface hasn’t taken hold yet.”
He gestured to the corner. A screen flickered to life showing your face, video logs, combat feeds, hacked transmissions even footage from that old mission where you and Bucky blew a Hydra lab sky-high.
“You like my work?” you sneered.
“You don’t understand what you are, do you? You weren’t supposed to be a field agent. You were supposed to be ours. The first cyber-operative. Genetically modified. Code-laced. A prototype. Hidden inside SHIELD for years.” He smiled. “But then you had to become an Avenger. Why do you think you weren’t fired after the disappearance of the Soldier and the God? We needed you close.”
Your voice cracked. “I’ll never be yours.”
“You already are.” He nodded once.
The machine behind you hissed. You felt the cold liquid enter your veins.
“Let’s show you who you really are. Who you’re meant to be, Agent Phoenix.”
You felt your skin burning. But it wasn’t pain. It was data. Code flooding your mind, commands, instructions. You knew this language, they were trying to overwrite you, wipe you clean to make you theirs.
The screen flashed red: REWRITE INITIATED.
“No.” you voice came out a whisper.
The machine whirred louder while your body shook. But then something broke, not you, the system.
Your fingers twitched, then you moved. Then you ripped the IV out with a scream of pure fury.
You snapped your arm free with a sickening crack and grabbed the console’s wire and jammed it into the nearest port the screen flickered.
You spoke aloud to the system as your fingers typed: “Override protocol: Phoenix Zero.”
The entire screen crashed into black. Then: ACCESS GRANTED.
You looked up, blood dripping from your nose, eyes blazing. “You wanted a ghost?” You smiled cold. “Here’s your goddamn poltergeist.”
The alarms screamed as you ran down the halls. Doors slammed shut and lights cut out. Emergency red lights flashed across the corridors. Agents scrambled their weapons raised, shouting over the chaos.
Then came the first body launched through reinforced glass like it weighed nothing.
“She’s out!” Another scream, then another.
You didn’t sneak out of that facility. You made damn sure they knew you were leaving.
half conscious and half-feral. Your face was streaked with dried blood your lips split your eyes like fire. You were no longer yourself.
You had a gun in one hand and a blade in the other, and the command codes still sang in your brain. You were the system now.
“She’s in the lower levels! Lock it down!”
Too late.
You stepped into the control room. Looked the lead scientist in the eye. Let him see it the recognition. The rage. The new you.
“You tried to turn me into your weapon,” you whispered, as the lights shorted behind you. “But you forgot the first rule of programming…”
You slammed your fist through the console, frying the entire base. “I write my own code.” Then put a bullet through his head.

Back at the base, Tony’s hands flew over the keyboard, his eyes scanning the USB drive they had found at your location, hoping for an answer. He still couldn’t figure out what just happened. The last thing he heard was your voice.
“Tony, they found me!”
Then nothing. Nothing but silence had followed. The screen in front of him flickered, lines of data scrambling across his display, but there was nothing. No signal, no trace, just an empty line.
“FRIDAY?” His voice cracked. “Find her. Now.”
“I’m attempting to triangulate her position, sir,” FRIDAY responded. “There’s interference. But the transmission was abruptly cut off.”
“Damn it,” Tony muttered, turning to the others. “Get your gear ready. She’s out there and we need to find her.”
Natasha, Clint, and Sam were already on their way, Tony’s words had barely left his mouth before they were heading for the door. But Steve, the ever calm leader, stopped them in their tracks.
“Tony, listen this isn’t your fault,” Steve said, he tried to comfort. “We’ll find her. We just need to think.”
But Tony didn’t want to hear it. His jaw tightened. “I should’ve been there,” he muttered, more to himself than to Steve. “She’s out there alone, and I…”
“Tony.” Steve’s voice was firm now, a reminder to focus. “We’ll get her back.
Tony gritted his teeth, his mind already racing with calculations. “Right. well I’m going in first. No delays.”
Hydra Base – Your POV
You were strapped to a table, Electricity stillbuzzed through you, your body was stiff and shaking on the cold metal table. The bitter taste of blood on your tongue. Tubes were jammed into your arm, you weren't sure what they were....IV lines or worse, pumping God knows what into your bloodstream
“Shit” you muttered willing yourself not to pass out. You tried to breathe through it, tried to focus on the subtle movements of your surroundings. You could hear them now, two figures, maybe more, moving closer.
With all your remaining strength, you forced your eyes open. A figure stepped into the faint light, their silhouette barely visible through the haze of pain.
“I was hoping you’d be a bit more cooperative,” came the voice, it was familiar. You couldn’t quite place it. But you recognised it.
Back at Base pov:
Tony was pacing, his hands running through his hair. He couldn’t stand all the waiting around. He shot a quick look at Steve.
“Any luck?” he snapped.
Steve shook his head, his eyes still fixed on the map, trying to predict their next move. “We’re getting close. But we don’t know where she is yet. These Hydra bastards have too many holes.”
“We will find her,” Tony said, “And when we do, it’s over for them.”
YOUR POV
A door hissed open. It wasn't the usual grunts or masked interrogators. No this one wore a suit. Clean and crisp with the SHIELD emblem on the front pocket. “It took us a long time to track you, Y/A/N.” (Your avenger name)
Your stomach dropped. Zero the head of SHIELD stood before you.
“Oh, come now. You knew SHIELD and Hydra weren’t that separate. Especially after we tried to reclaim the Soldier and maybe trap the trickster god.” He tapped your temple lightly “But do you even know who you are? Why we kept you around once they disappeared?”
You stayed silent your gaze unwavering staring straight at him.
“A soldier who can crash networks, slit throats, and disappear without a whisper… What we didn’t expect was for you to grow a conscience. Join the Avengers.” He leaned in close, whispering your ear, “But it’s about time we changed who you’re loyal to.”
Avengers, Bucky and Loki POV
Natasha crossed her arms sighing deeply. “You all know we’re going to have to tell them.”
The room fell quiet.
Tony didn’t look up from the display. “Yeah.”
Sam let out a deep breath through his nose. “They deserve to know.”
Clint nodded grimly. “Well this isn't going to be pretty.”
Without another word, they were in the jet, heading straight for the only place they knew the two men would be.
The front door creaked open.
Bucky glanced out the window, shaking his head, “We really need a new safe house.”
Loki nodded, fiddling with his dagger between his fingers. “We’ve had more guests here than an Asgardian ball”
But the moment they saw the team’s faces tight, grim and silent they knew something was up.
“What is it?” Bucky asked, already moving forward.
“What happened?” Loki’s voice sharp but fear rising behind his words.
Steve stepped forward, his jaw clenched. “They got her. They have Y/N.”
Loki’s face paled, his illusion fading for a split second.
Bucky’s voice came out low and deadly. “Where.”
Steve met his eyes. “You need to come with us. Now.”

A few weeks later you sat hunched over a desk in some forgotten outpost on the edge of Romania, half buried beneath snow.
The Hydra base had been long abandoned, or so they claimed. The flickering screen in front of you told a different story.
Lines of code streamed past your eyes. You barely blinked your fingers flying over your keyboard. This was where you thrived in the hum of machines.
A soft click echoed through the dark.
You didn’t flinch you just paused and reached slowly for the sidearm holstered at your thigh your eyes still on the screen. “Not now,” you muttered annoyed. “I’m in the middle of something.” nothing answered back, thank god.
Then static danced through your earpiece. Tony’s voice crackled in.
“Y/N, do you ever sleep, or do you just snack on encrypted firewalls and rage?”
You smirked. “Mostly rage., I’ve got Nat and Clint heading to Base 9. You sure you don’t need backup?”
“No,” you said firmly. “I’ve almost got it. This is the last piece. Then we hit them hard.”
“You alright,?” Tony asked, noticing you were quietter than usual or in general.
You sighed. “I’m good.” You didn’t tell him you still dreamed of Bucky’s voice snarling behind you. Or Loki’s soft, cruel smile. You didn’t tell him about the ache in your chest every time you thought of them how you wanted to go back, but you couldn’t. Not until this was over.
You were brought out of your daze by a Sudden click.
The screen lit up green. ACCESS GRANTED.
Your heart jumped and you leaned in.
A full Hydra drop-site list. Encrypted comms. High-level internal logs and a transfer schedule. But This wasn’t just another patrol. They were planning something big. You quickly began the download.
Then..
A creak.
Behind you.
Barely audible, but definitly there.
Your eyes darted to the corner mirror you’d wedged up hours ago, just in time to see a flash of black.
You grabbed the drive, and threw it across the floor, and went for your gun but it was Too late.
A sharp crack of electricity sounded your spine arching in agony.
Your fingers scrambled for the comms in your ear.
“Tony” you gasped.
Another surge your knees hit the ground.
“Tony, they found me!”
The scream echoed down the comm line just before the connection cut
Tony Stark stood frozen not known what his next move was going to be

The lights are dim as the movie plays in the background, it was Steve's choice , so it was some old action flick that no one’s really paying attention to.
You’re sitting cross-legged on the floor near the coffee table, one hand half-heartedly dipping into the popcorn bowl. You try and keep your eyes on the screen but Your focus drifts Clint’s behind you, sprawled on the floor near the sofa, legs stretched out, the picture of casual.
Except there’s nothing casual about the way his knee brushes against your back. Or how, every so often, his hand snakes over your shoulder to steal popcorn his fingers lingering, grazing your bare skin like it’s nothing. Like it doesn’t set your whole body on fire.
Then, when you shift to reach for the bowl, he’s there his hand wraps firmly around your waist, fingers splayed wide on your stomach as he pulls you back, slow and steady, until you’re nestled between his legs, your back resting against his chest.
Your breath catches in your throat.
As the movie continues, you can feel your heart racing. Clint’s hand stays on your waist, his thumb brushing lazy circles against your side.
He still steals a piece of popcorn every now and then, his arm sliding across your shoulder to reach the bowl.
You feel him breathe, the rise and fall of his chest behind you, and his breath across the back of your neck.
He’s the only thing you can feel. You have forgotten about the movie, you have forgotten about the popcorn. It’s all too much, too much heat, too much tension, too much Clint Barton.
You mutter, “I’m… I’m gonna get a drink.” barely holding it together: You slip out of his hold and make a beeline for the kitchen. Your heart’s slamming in your chest, your skin still tingling from where his hand had been.
You reach for your glass on the shelf, your arms stretching up. Your shirt rides up with the movement, exposing a strip of skin along your waist. And that’s when you feel it....his hand.
Large, warm, fingers brushing your bare hip as he reaches around you, his body a solid, burning presence at your back. His voice, low and rough against your ear: “Let me get that for you, sweetheart.”
You freeze.
The glass clinks softly as he takes it down, his hand lingering on your skin, just a moment too long. His fingertips skim the curve of your waist.
You turn slowly your heart racing, and there he is.
Clint.
Close enough to feel the warmth radiating off him, close enough that you could lean in, could taste the air between you. His eyes lock on yours and For a moment your world stops.
You whisper, breathless, barely holding onto control: “Clint…”
He doesn’t back off and doesn’t move. His voice is low, “I know.”
His hand is still on your waist and the tension is suffocating.
But before you can say anything else, before you can even breathe, a slow, deliberate throat clear breaks the moment.
You freeze the glass trembling in your hands.
Clint steps back, his hands falling to his sides like he’s been caught. You turn your head, and there he is.
Loki leans against the doorway, arms crossed, one brow arched, smirking. His voice is smooth as silk, but there’s a dangerous glint in his eyes. “How… domestic.”
He pushes off the frame, sauntering into the kitchen with his gaze locked on Clint. There’s a dark amusement in his eyes, but underneath it there is a warning.
Clint’s jaw tightens, his hands curling into fists at his sides. Loki stops just close enough to you, tilting his head silently asking if you are okay.
You slip past Clint, your heart pounding in your chest, glass trembling in your hands. The air is thick with the weight of what almost happened.
You don’t look back.
You make way back toward the living room, trying to steady your breathing.
Behind you, Clint stands watching as you leave his fists clenched, His eyes shoot to Loki as he passes beside him, he turns his head just slightly, his voice low, “Careful, Barton. Don’t make promises you’re not willing to keep.”
It is a warning but Loki doesn’t wait for a response.
He moves after you, taking a seat beside you.
And somewhere behind you, Clint stews in the kitchen, the moment slipping away, wondering how the hell he’s going to fix this.

You wouldn’t have guessed how dark it was as the HYDRA compound burned.
Steve lowered his shield, his chest heaving and his knuckles bloodied. “Secure the last tunnel,” he barked into the comms.
“Already on it,” Natasha replied, as she dropped from the rafters, blades flashing as she took out the final guard. “South exit’s clear.”
Tony hovered above the wreckage, scanning the ruins. “Heat signatures neutral. Not bad for a little underground rebellion.”
Across the compound, Sam flew overhead. “Drones are offline. Communications jammed. HYDRA’s not calling for backup anytime soon.”
“About damn time,” Clint muttered.
“Excuse you, I think the words you’re looking for are ‘thank you,’” your voice crackled through the comms.
Steve froze. “Y/N?”
“Don’t sound so surprised, Cap,” you teased from the other end. “Wasn’t gonna let you all have the fun without me.”
“Where the hell are you?” Natasha demanded.
“Somewhere warm. Now hurry up, I’m hungry.”
Clint chuckled. “So… still bossing us around, huh?”
“Someone has to.” The comm went dead with a soft click.
Loki & Bucky
The door creaked open.
Bucky stepped in first his gun raised his body tense. Loki followed, green light humming in his palm.
“Feels wrong,” Bucky muttered.
Loki sniffed the air and narrowed his eyes. “It smells like her perfume.”
Bucky raised an eyebrow. “Since when do you notice perfume?”
Loki arched a brow right back. “Since she wore that one that made my knees weak and my morals questionable.”
“Right,” Bucky muttered, rolling his eyes. “So, since always.”
They moved through the flat slowly.
Then Bucky saw it a slip of paper on the table.
He picked it up, unfolding it carefully, like it might explode.
“We’re in this together, even when apart.”
Loki peered over his shoulder. “Told you so.” Then walked away.
“Well, good for you,” Bucky huffed out.
“And she didn’t even steal our last coffee ration. That’s love,” Loki said from the kitchen.
“She better not have touched the Pop-Tarts,” Bucky added seriously, storming into the kitchen.
Loki moved toward the window, frowning. “She was watching us. Probably made sure we were clear before even stepping foot in here.”
Bucky folded the note and tucked it into his jacket pocket with quiet reverence. “Yeah. She’s watching our backs.”
Loki looked over, face softer now. “Then we’d better make it worth her trust.”
Bucky snorted, grabbing a beer from the fridge. “She breaks into our safe house and leaves a love note, and you get all sentimental.”
“I’m not sentimental,” Loki said smoothly. “I’m poetic.”
“You’re ridiculous.”
“You kissed me once for writing you a haiku.”
Bucky paused. “It was a good haiku.”
Loki smirked. “Exactly.”

Quiet was not a word you’d use to describe the Avengers Facility.
In fact, with Steve’s loud orders, Bruce’s lab explosions, and Sam’s boisterous laughter – not to mention the never-ending petty arguments that managed to revert the Avengers to 11th graders in their first debate club – it was the farthest thing from quiet.
But, now, with zero disagreements and zero distractions, you’d been able to enjoy the building all to yourself. Almost. Of course, the one time you got to avoid a mission, you ended up falling into an even worse situation.
You’d covered for Wanda last mission, and she’d insisted on paying you back for the newest one. It wasn’t high stakes by any means, but the work itself had countless components and everyone who was nearby – or at least on the planet – had been called in to fill some role.
Everyone, of course, except you. And Clint.

The safe house was too quiet.
“Something’s off,” Bucky muttered, already reaching for the knife tucked at his lower back.
Loki stilled at his side, his eyes narrowing.
They moved carefully toward the small, battered living room.
And there, sitting at the table under the dim yellow lamp, was you.
Half your face was hidden in the shadow, the other half lit by the light.
One elbow rested casually on the table, a small smile tugging at the corner of your mouth.
You tilted your head “Hello, Pet.” You grinned, echoing Loki’s first words to you all those weeks ago.
For a moment, neither of them moved.
Then Loki’s lips curved into a smile, “Bit dramatic.”
“I thought you’d like it,” you quipped smoothly.
Bucky crossed the room in three long strides. dropping to his knees His metal hand caught your jaw, he kissed you hard, fierce and desperate.
You kissed him back just as fiercely before breaking away with a small, breathless laugh.
Without hesitating, you turned to Loki. He met you halfway in the room, his hand threading into your hair as he kissed you deep.
“It’s not a long visit, boys,” you said lightly, nodding toward the file sitting on the table. “I just came to deliver something.”
Bucky glanced at it and shrugged.
“We didn’t need it back,” he said. “We’ve got it memorised.”
You only smiled faintly. “Mmm,” you hummed.
You turned toward the door, pausing with your hand on the knob. Without looking back, you said coolly: “And don’t think you’re forgiven yet. You’ve got a lot of making up to do before that happens.” The door clicked shut behind you, leaving them in stunned silence.
Loki crossed to the table and lifted the file. He flipped it open and froze.
Inside wasn’t their file.
It was yours.
A thick stack of documents intelligence, surveillance logs, secret meetings, all compiled by you and the Resistance.
Hydra agents. SHIELD operatives. traitors.
Nestled among the papers was a small, green origami dragon. Loki stared at it, stricken. It was the same dragon he’d crafted years ago on your first date sending it flying through a restaurant, causing soups to spill and salads to scatter while you laughed.
Tucked underneath the dragon was a simple, handwritten note:
You can trust me.
I love you.
Y/N
Loki stumbled back a step, the blood draining from his face as he sank heavily into the chair behind him.
Bucky caught the look, alarm flickering across his features. “You okay?”
Loki wordlessly handed him the file.
Bucky flipped through the pages, mouth tightening into a grim lineand then he let out a low, stunned curse. “Fuck,” he whispered. *“She has busy.”
It hit them both at once. You had been fighting the whole time, for them. And after all they had done, you had put your trust back in their hands.
