My flanders is finished! Pattern is St Valentines Day by Kumiko Nakazaki
help I’m having ideas beyond my available free time
Did a little experiment with tatting and chainmail that I had a lot of fun with!!!
I used size 10 black crochet thread (aunt lydia's) tatted in the same simple edging from Frivole on YouTube that I did to learn the tatting stitches attached to a very open half Persian 3-in-1 to make it puff out like a cuff(for a bracelet version) or a ruff (for a necklace version that I didn't want to model for). I would still need to figure out what I would use for a closure and how I would wear it, but it was incredibly fun to try!

Onto the second wing! 6.6.26
In the last two months I worked on these two embroideries. It took really a lot of stabbing to do them but I am quite happy about the results.
Homage to Connor Storrie and Hudson William ♥️ , these will be yours if I will ever have the opportunity to meet you.
Connor, I love your serious faces and your silly ones, I love how you can be a shapeshifter and I love your voice, your smiles, the vulnerability you could put in what you do. You really are a fantastic actor and a beautiful person ♥️
Hudson, I love how you are always so fierce and spontaneous and absolutely feral! I hope you will forever be so wild ♥️
Thank you for being you!

Current stage of learning bobbin lace: making a new pillow
Up to now I've been working with a basic rectangle pillow that was part of the beginner's set the local lace guild sells. It's fine, but it's very modern being filled with polystyrene and backed with a strawberry print fabric. I'd like something that isn't going to stand out so much at sca events, and approaches what was used in period. I'd also like something I can do long lengths of lace on without having to try to shift the in progress lace when I run out of space.
Something like this:
As seen in Alessandro Allori's Annunciation from 1603, slightly post period but so slightly that it may as well be period.
So, I'm making a bolster pillow. To help me on this task I have found the gold standard of how to instructions... A 16 year old grainy as hell youtube video
For now I'm just going to use the measurements from the video, if this one goes well I may make a second that's closer to the dimensions of the one in the painting
Step one was cutting the fabric (17"x24"), sewing drawstring casings (1" in on the short edge) and then turning it into a tube (video didn't give seam allowance, I used 1cm) making sure not to sew up the casings. I'm using a heavy canvas stolen from my mother's stash
Next thread a sturdy string through both casings, I used kitchen twine. Pull one side as tightly closed as you can and tie off.
Next step is cardboard ends (5" diametre circles) and stuffing. So I'm off to bunnings to acquire something to stuff it with.
alright it is time to flick some corriedale
Incredible incredible fleece wow
literally just finger twisted from the picked lock, no other prep. This is going to be an incredible warp yarn 😍😍😍
if y’all hated the last tapestry I made I got something even better. happy pride!
also didn’t block this one so don’t even ask
(link to the chart)
Another!
I glued the threads in place to start this time which definitely helped. Still having trouble finding the best way to tie them at the end and keep the braids

Authors, agents, publishers: every part of the industry is seeing the strain of five years of escalating anti-LGBTQ censorship.
if you'd like to show support, here are some upcoming queer books:
When Life Gives You Corpses is a brilliant YA about a cursed praying mantis who falls for a young witch. Yield Under Great Persuasion is a raunchy, but surprisingly sweet story about two men repairing their relationship. Fabulous Bodies is a horror story about a queer rockstar rising from the dead.
This is Where the Future Bleeds is a fantasy set in a vividly imagined land, where two women (who happen to kiss) are the key to healing the broken sky. You're No Better is a story about a teen struggling in the shadow of his murderous parent. Oil on Canvas is about a woman who finds disturbing paintings in the home of her dead mother.
and then here's a list of 26 queer books by Black authors set to publish this year, and a 10 upcoming books by trans authors. if you want to fight back against queer censorship, use your wallet! or (if that's not an option) you can contact your local library and ask them to stock a copy.
Alex Rowland (Author of Yield Under Great Persuasion and several other amazing books!) has a kickstarter going on for their most recent book! Fantasy Romans! Fantasy Emperor Hadrian and Antinous! As an Academic Text! By a Fantasy Author! So cool right?? Check out in the link below! Five days left to back it and some seriously cool merch!
