Ok so here's my Tomco theory.... In the Blood Moon Ball episode we hear about how the Blood Moons light will bind two souls for eternity and everyone assumes its Starco. But Tom interrupted their dance to confront Marco. They were dancing sround each other (preparing to fight) under the Blood Moon. Call it a stretch but this could be the cause for their later very romantic-bromance episode. For further proof catch how they look at each other in the new season 3 opening credits. Don't count Tomco out yet...
