I am tired and on my phone, so possibly not my most coherent, but

There is something so so satisfying in writing a long fic, when you get to the point where you're nailing the emotional landing, you're accomplishing the complicated thing you set out to do -

Every so often I remember the day Ryn and I wrote (most of?) the big climactic battle in Reckoning, and while that was a relatively plotty story, that moment where the plot beat meshed perfectly with the emotional heart of the story was so amazing. (I will see the inside of the Starbucks across the street from my divorce lawyer for the rest of my life when I think of it)

I felt the same way writing that moment on Mulholland in carlita, and the big concert scene in Beach House, and the big moment is amazing, but also knowing that all the craft and thinking and choices made those moments work. Not just the big moment, but that the big moment feels like it flows from everything else. The thing you can only do with the spaciousness of a longer piece.

Which is also to say that I am so thrilled that @oatmilktruther and I fucking knocked it out of the park in exactly that way in our WIP, and it's almost done!!!!! And Abs got the big moment (it made me cry) and it definitely feels like something that flows so beautifully from everything we've done to get here 🥹
