I just thought it meant someone who doesn’t care what you ship, like they won’t get mad if someone doesn’t support their OTP or ships those characters with someone else. I always used to get kind of confused when people said they were anti proshipper.

Genshin community ramblings: Twitter vs Tumblr

Okay so these are just my observations as someone who has both X and Tumblr accounts that are used to view Genshin/hoyo fandom content. I don’t post on X and mainly just have it to see news about games and projects I like, but X recommends a lot of other Genshin related posts to me. On Tumblr, I actively view the Genshin impact tab and interact with people. HOWEVER: I have noticed a significant difference between the communities on each app.

You would think that because I interact with the community on Tumblr more, I would be exposed to more polarising opinions. But In actuality, the Genshin fandom on Tumblr to mostly posts things like fanart, lore discussions, fanfiction, random observations and memes. While I’m certain there are people on this app with critiques on hoyo, most of the posts are out of fun and enjoyment.

Comparatively, the Genshin fandom on X seems to be overwhelmingly negative. It is actually quite rare that I see a majority positive posts on the Genshin tag. There always seems to be heavy discourse and extreme opinions pushed to the top of the page. What really gets me is the language people use so casually in their critiques, especially when discussing female characters.

There seems to be a huge sense of purity culture where half the fandom views the female body as inherently sexual, and any visible skin reduces an entire character design to nothing more than fan service, which is deemed morally reprehensible and sometimes even called p*dophilloic in nature. I have recently seen this mostly in reference to Sandrone’s recent design reveal. While I believe the sexualisation of women in media is an important area of discussion, the way people speak about these characters is honestly rather disturbing. As one user said:

It’s not just the case of female designs. Suddenly everything is misogyny, everything is p*do bait, any opinion people could have about any subject is viewed in the most extreme possible degree by those who disagree with it.

Anyway, this is just an observation post. I’m sure there are people like this on Tumblr too but X’s algorithm makes it so the negative content is overwhelming. I’d love to hear people’s thoughts on this and whether they have noticed the differences between the X and Tumblr fandoms too.

Genshin ramblings

Do u guys wonder if on top of it being an inherently disturbing sight, the reason Pantalone was ‘unsettled’ by Zandik’s dissection was bc he didn’t know how to feel about it? Let me elaborate.

Since Pantalone and Zandik were close, it would probably be upsetting to find out what happened to him and see his body desecrated like that. But simultaneously, the segments performing the dissection are also Zandik.

So I could imagine Pantalone having the following inner conflict:

Am I upset that my boy Dottore is getting dissected, or am I gonna support my boy Dottore’s experimental ventures?

I imagine that sort of cognitive dissonance would be quite confusing and disturbing to most.
