ik ik people can like or dislike whatever characters they want for whatever reason but i do get kinda sad when people vitriolically hate chuck bc i feel like theyre robbing themselves of a pretty big part of the story. like quick example, i always see people interpret chuck sitting in on the sandpiper meetings as him being there to throw jimmy off. but like. considering how the episode leading up to that we get
shots of chuck's gigantic empty house
shots of chuck and jimmy baby photos
chuck playing one half of a duet that he continually messes up
chuck's symptoms get worse when he's worried jimmy is in trouble
chuck's symptoms get worse when jimmy is upset with him
chuck's symptoms get worse when he's guilty about something he's said or done to jimmy
chuck's symptoms get better when he and jimmy are getting along
him leaving his gigantic empty house to go sit in on the sandpiper meetings is the first time he's gone outside since him and jimmy's fight and will be the first time he'll see him face to face since then
wouldnt it probably make more sense to read that as him being excruciatingly lonely but too proud to admit it?
