i'm finally getting caught up on cr4 e31 and man. the clear influences of the player's real life culture in their characters (and in the worldbuilding in brennan's case) is amazing and adds such a richness. like thaisha is so clearly influenced by like. black american folk culture Especially with the orcish revolutionaries. idk if liam is irish but he's at least running with a lot of the irish american working class stuff brennan injected into the world in terms of the hal and the culture of the round. and azune's whole bit about not having anyone to speak his native language to and his disconnect to his own identity (diaspora narrative). i Love when real world cultures are reflected in fiction it's so good.

I think Jasper is even more compelling if you read him as trans btw. His first relationship with Chloe, finding someone who sees him as a man and loves him, even when he wallows in self hatred. It's good for a few years. He's moving on. The blood on his hands is still there, but there is someone who doesn't see it. Maybe she would hate him if she new. Maybe. But she doesn't right now. And then his past catches up to him. He's dead in his apartment. His body is contorting and changing and it fucking hurts. All the years he's spent molding his body into something he can finally fucking live with are gone. And he's so fucking hungry and his teeth fucking ache with it and he can't let her see him like this. She can't see his sins and the ugliness of his soul made manifest. So he crawls into the sewers.
