Getting lost into her crystal prism again, Sybill glanced into the future, seeing so much darkness. Since the summer she had seem The Grim pass by her orbs ever so often, but now people back in Hogwarts, she knew it was no mistake.
Snapping out of it, she looked back up to the Gryffindor. “Ah, yes! Yes I am, it’s my passion actually. I’m trying to become a Divination professor.” She beamed, happy to talk about her love and joy. Taking a globe prism she handed it to Lily. “What can you see out of this one?”
"Well then, I'll be quite honoured to say I was one of your students.” A smile found its way onto her own features almost immediately, just seeing the other so joyed immediately brightening her own mood.
She took the globe carefully and gazed into it, which was seemingly pointless for the first few moments. There were no tell tale signs of anything; no shapes, no figures. Just crystal. “Nothing yet,” she admitted, looking back up at Sybill. “Just blurriness. Is that supposed to happen?”

Remus practically threw down his back and immediately laid down on the grass. What was it, the first week and why was he still on his summer sleep schedule? This lovely summer schedule of his consisted of no sleep, ever. Which is precisely why Remus found himself collapsed under a small patch of shade by the Black Lake– one of his favorite napping spots, in fact. He need only hope he wouldn’t be discovered out here, for there would go his naptime.
The Black Lake was Lily’s place to -- do anything, really. Especially under one tree in particular; only a few steps from the lake, and far enough that she wasn’t bothered by most, but close enough that she wasn’t excluded from the rest of the castle. It was, in a word, perfect. So there she is, writing a letter home Everything’s fine, I miss you, Julianna says hi, tell Waggers I love him, when Remus just shows up without so much as a glance in her direction. So he very clearly didn’t see her. Or was ignoring her. Lily was going to go with the latter. And she was positive he’d appreciate it if she left him alone. But where was the fun in that? “What, no ‘hi Lily’?” her comment was accompanied by a flick to his arm to ensure he was listening. “I’m not quite sure if you’ve heard, but there’s a fantastic thing called a bed. One of my favourite inventions, really.”

Shrieking, Sybill quickly placed her hands over her mouth, shocked from the sudden figure. She quickly straightened herself up and looked at the Gryffindor. “Oh! A-Aha…” Sybill stuttered.
“Y-You see I’ve been trying to see some future with crystal balls, but then I thought why not use a crystal prism?” Sybill started to explain before picking up the prism. “It gave a sharper, yet a lot more dreary kind of image. I’ve also tried globes, triangle prisms and others…”
It wasn’t completely wrong to say that Lily had no clue what to expect when she walked over. But, flinching slightly at the girl’s response, it was safe to say it certainly wasn’t that. “Sorry! Did I startle you?”
“That is fascinating...” she agreed, looking at the prism curiously. “I take it that you’re quite good at Divination then?”

Glancing into the crystal, Sybill felt a surge of magic spike through her mind and body. While it wasn’t an orb, the rectangle effect gave a more harsher, more sharper vision.
“Amazing…” Sybill watched as a figure moved and expanded, indicating that someone was coming near, unknown to her that they were approaching.
Lily definitely was not staring. She was simply...watching; whether in confusion or fascination, she wasn’t sure. But with the way Sybill had been staring at what she saw as nothing more than a glass rectangle, one could hardly blame her.
After a few minutes of deliberation, she walked over to where the other was sitting. There was no harm in simply asking, right? “What’s amazing?”
Don’t tell me to calm down or get over it. I was just about to, but you’ve just extended my saltyness by 30 minutes
Mary stood in the middle of the corridor. She couldn’t stop thinking about everything that had happened. The worst part was the utter selfishness of it all. The dead muggleborn. Mulciber. Her. Everything lead back to how it could have been her. How it might be her, soon. She’d been on her way to somewhere- she couldn’t remember now, the library or the quidditch pitch -“Oh. I didn’t mean to… be in your way.”
"I was just looking for you, actually." It seemed that everyone was shaken up hiby the news, but the muggleborns more so. Lily liked to think that she was doing well at staying out of her own thoughts, instead projecting her own worries away from herself onto others. When she spoke, something in her voice said that it was more than a casual greeting, "How are you?"

“But I… why would anyone do that. Why would- why would you kill someone based on their blood status?” He looks well and truly lost- and worried as well, largely for Lily.
“… How are you even feeling about this- you’re. Well. You’re.” He makes a hand gesture, too wide and vague to tell the meaning, but it’s directed at her at least, “You’re a muggleborn, too. Like, like that other girl.”
“Because they’re w e a k, Peter. They’re afraid of what they're not used to. I don’t quite understand either, but that’s just the way it is.” His observation brought an upwards twitch to the corners of her lips. But that didn't stop her from expertly avoiding the question, “I’m far too worried about the first years, really; they’re scared out of their minds.”
Dirty, filth, trash, scum. These words, while Lily remembered learning them in primary school, had turned into simple words with simple meanings to much, much more. They went from innocent descriptions of dirty substances to adjectives for blood; words to describe not only herself, but for everyone else like her. For those who came from lineage that was viewed as less than desirable. She grew almost immune to the insults. But now, they seemed to be thrown around more than ever. And, with not directed towards her, it was getting on her last nerves.
As she left the library and began down the remotely empty corridor when did it get that late?, she recalled a snippet of a conversation she’d overheard only a few tables over. It was clear by the way they snarled their insults and shared there insight on the death that took place the day earlier, they intended for Lily to hear. Miraculously, she’d managed to remove herself before she did something she regretted. Until she heard footsteps behind her. With her nerves on edge and her heart beating in her ears, her hold on her wand tightened as she spun to face the person she believed to be the one she'd heard in the library, a hex on the tip of her tongue. Only did she back down when she noticed it was Ted.
“Merlin Ted! Give me a little warning next time.” She pocketed her wand, her shoulders sagging in relief. “Sorry, thought you were someone else.”
“I don’t believe that either. I was worried that you might have gotten hurt, really. It seems like Muggleborns are targeted.” She pursed her lips together. “Tense, but that’s normal. What about yours?”

“When aren’t we?” Lily retorted, a small scoff leaving her lips. “Bloody insane. Some seventh years keep talking about going out and finding who did it -- though, I can’t say I blame them. But I hate that you’re stuck in that house; I know how some of them can get. Are you sure nothing’s gotten worse?”

“You lot need to be more… optimistic. At least the day is nice for a funeral.”
“Perhaps not, but it’s a long shot to say her killer knew it either, and they just -- threw her life away like it was nothing. Does that not bother you in the slightest?”

Marlene gazed wistfully out the window. First day of sixth year, and classes were canceled. It wasn’t that she was upset about that, but she had been looking forward to seeing her friends from other Houses. Breakfast that morning had been a quiet, dismal affair, and she thought it would’ve been inappropriate to switch tables.
Her fingers slipped down the page of the book open in front of her, though she wasn’t reading it. She wasn’t even looking at it, really. The window captivated her attention currently, which was why she was startled when she felt a presence behind her. She turned to see who had invaded her personal space.
This wasn’t how the year was meant to start. Patrols were certainly taking their toll on Lily -- numerous people came up to her, asking for answers that she simply couldn’t give. The information the professors gave them was minimal, which irritated her to no end. There was something they weren’t telling them. There had to be.
After comforting a few first year Gryffindor’s --which wasn’t hard, mind you,-- Lily wordlessly sat next to Marlene. She broke her sugar quill in half and held the bigger piece out to the other. “Nicked it from Emmeline,” she explained. “I won’t tell if you won’t.”

Dorcas recognized the voice immediately and looked up at Lily with an expression between fear and sadness. It was probably the worst time, she could ever be caught off guard by her friend. Just seeing the worried expression on Lily’s face sent another few tears running down her face. What was she supposed to say to her.
“Lily” she murmured tackling her friend with a hug “It’s stupid, but I was so worried, the girl…and I started to think, it could have been you and I couldn’t cope with that, what if I can’t protect you from this Lily, what if i’m not good enough to fight them, I don’t want to let you down, but i’m scared”
