The world has fallen into darkness brought upon by the selfish destruction of its residents. All businesses had boarded up their entrances. And the human mind had plummeted further into chaos. Demons rose from the depths. But they did not destroy as ancient texts previously suggested. Instead, they attempted to aid in the rejuvenation of humankind. But a looming prophecy might threaten everything they've been planning.
Sorath runs through an alleyway at full speed, a demon hot on his tail. He rounds the corner and tips over piles of garbage. The pursuer bursts through the splayed trash, not slowing down.
Sorath abruptly stops at a dead-end, cornered by the demon.
"What's your name?" the demon hisses.
Sorath trembles as he inches closer and closer. "What do you want?"
"I want your damn name!" he bellows.
"Why would I give you that? I don't even know who you are?" He backs up into a cement wall.
The demon pulls a knife from behind his back. "Judging by your defiance, you're the one she is looking for. For that, I must kill you."
As he closes in on Sorath, he stops in his tracks. The knife falls to the ground while his hands tremble. Molten cracks spread across his body. He screams in agony.
Sorath slides down the wall onto the ground. "What the hell is going on?"
An elegant female demon emerges from the shadows, her glowing hand outstretched towards Sorath's pursuer. She closes her hand into a fist, causing the betrayer to collapse, lifeless. His ashes dissipate into the calm breeze.
She calmly offers her hand to him. "Stand up, Sorath."
"How do you know my name?" he utters.
She looks around. "We have to go. This isn't something we should discuss here."
Sorath stands up and shuffles to Nicor, taking her by the hand. She puts her hand on his shoulder. Broken angel wings sprout from his back. They look deep into each other's eyes, entranced.
His cheeks redden as a fiery blaze engulfs them. They dissapear into the inferno. Only charred marks adorn the ground where they once stood.

Chapter 1
The Three Broomsticks was starting to die down, the laughter and ruckus became soft conversations, the sound of the fireplace seemed to crackle even louder. Vivian was lost in thought as she downed another shot of firewhisky. It was her fourth one and she knew she had to stop before she became too intoxicated. The warm feeling in her stomach was comforting and took her mind off of the day to day activities in her life. She owned a humble clothing store and was happy that it was gaining popularity in the wizarding world, her customers simply adored her designs. Vivian was here to celebrate her newfound success with her friends. They drank and congratulated her as they all took the time to catch up and just enjoy the night. Imelda and Grace left an hour ago and Nerida had to be escorted out by her husband, which was rather hilarious. The gathering would have been perfect, but two of her closest friends were missing.
Ominis and Sebastian should have been there with them but about a year ago, the two Aurors just vanished. For months, missing wizards posters were hung all around Hogsmeade and the surrounding hamlets, but people stopped searching after a while. About a week ago, the Ministry pronounced them dead since no one had seen them for so long. It broke her heart that people had given up but there wasn’t much anyone could do, they searched everywhere. Other Aurors even traveled to America to try and find them and…nothing. Ominis and Sebastian were gone and Vivian had to move on and accept that. The best she could do was hold on to the wonderful memories and cherish all the time they spent together. She transferred to Hogwarts her seventh year and they had been friends ever since, they would even visit her whenever they got the chance after graduation before she moved out of her grandmother’s home.
She stood up with a long sigh, leaving the coziness of the armchair and wrapped her thick cloak around her shoulders, buckling the latch to keep it in place. She then crossed to the bar to say her goodbyes to Sirona.
“Are you okay to get home?” Sirona asked with a raised brow. She was always looking out for the patrons that visited her travern. Vivian appreciated that she had her back and was concerned about her.
“I’ll be fine, I didn’t drink enough to become completely drunk, it’s not that far a walk.” Vivian gave her a warm smile.
“Alright Vi, you take care of yourself, see you around.” Sirona smiled back.
Once Vivian stepped outside she was greeted by the brisk Fall air. It was crisp and chilly making her shiver so she hugged her cloak even tighter around her body. Hogsmeade was beautiful this time of year, everything was decorated to perfection for Hallowe’en, jack o'lanterns and wreaths adorned the square. Vivian smiled to herself as the glow seemed to make everything around her feel almost dreamlike.
The streets were quieter than usual seeing as most of the townspeople were already in bed. She didn’t live very far, her home was just outside Upper Hogsfield, but she took her time to enjoy the Autumn night that was bathed in moonlight.
She passed a few homes, their windows held no lights, the families already deep in slumber. The path ahead was winding and if she took a wrong turn it would lead her into the forbidden forest so Vivian had to be careful and watch where she was going. Especially since she had quite a few drinks and was still feeling a bit foggy. Night noises washed over her creating a calm and serene atmosphere around her. It was truly beautiful but seeing as she was completely alone, it would be best if she got home quickly.
Vivian felt a chill creep down her spine and it was not the cold this time. It was so sudden that it shocked her, causing her to stop in her tracks. She stood still making sure she was absolutely quiet so she could listen and take in her surroundings. She wasn’t alone, she could hear footsteps approaching behind her, but when she turned around no one was there.
It’s just the alcohol messing with her mind, that was all, she told herself. She turned and focused on the path ahead but when she started walking, she heard the footsteps again. She picked up her pace and didn’t look back but whoever was behind her sped up as well. She turned around quickly and once again there was no one there.
She pulled out her wand and gripped it tight. Someone had to be trying to scare her, it was probably children, she was not in the mood to deal with any of this. Her hand began to tremble and she slowly turned to head back towards her home. It was quiet for a few minutes but the steps started up once more but this time they were much closer. She spun and cast incendio in the culprit’s direction…nothing. Her spell dissipated into the air. By now her heart was pounding and she was beyond frightened, Vivian was absolutely terrified.
“Whoever is out there…please stop!” She cried into the night. There was no response and the only sound that could be heard was the woods around her. Why did she leave so late? She should have left before sundown or when her friends left the tavern. She was beating herself up for not getting home sooner.
There was a blur of movement to the left of her and she let out a shriek, casting more spells in that direction. Whatever it was, it was fucking fast. Now something dashed to the right and she began to cry. It was cornering her, she could feel it, and her heart dropped to her stomach as a lump formed in her throat. She couldn’t even scream if she wanted to, she was too frozen in fear.
“Please stop!” She whimpered and wiped tears from her eyes. The blurs became faster and more frequent as they grew closer, trapping her in her place. It was all or nothing at this point and Vivian made the quick decision to run. She would do her best to get the hell out of there. As she ran, it seemed like her house was miles away, panic had fully settled in and it felt like her heart would burst from her determination to reach safety.
Just keep running, don’t look back. She told herself as she tried to run faster. Her lungs burned from breathing in so much cold air but she didn’t care, she had to keep going, her house was just around the corner.
Her cabin was within her view, she could see the light of her windows. Please. Please just make it home. Please. Was all she could think about. She was so close. All she had to do was get inside and lock her doors.
Whoever was chasing her suddenly stopped but she didn’t care she finally made it to her house, slamming the door behind her and locking it tight. She moved to her back door and did the same. Thankfully she always kept her windows locked so she didn’t have to worry about them but she still clutched her wand in her trembling hand in case anyone thought to burst in.
She stood there trying to catch her breath for what seemed like hours, nothing. No shadows outside the windows, no one knocking at her door, it was silent except for her breathing and the wind blowing against the house.
Did she imagine the whole thing? Was she losing her mind? Maybe it was all the shots she took at The Three Broomsticks. She relaxed only a smidge so she could undress and take a warm shower. Once the water hit her body she let out a sigh of relief. The spray of the shower head seemed to wash away all the tension in her body that built up due to her fear and running for her life. Even after she was done cleaning herself she stood in the shower until the water ran cold. Once she was finished she dried off, brushed out her hair, and slipped into her nightgown. All she wanted to do was sleep this awful night away as she crawled into her bed, the blankets felt like a safe hug around her exhausted body. It didn’t take long for her to drift off into sleep and she welcomed the blissful feeling with open arms.
