That time that Carter SAd her CO because she had a bad case of allergies and then instead of pressing charges, he told her she had a nice shirt. And the fact that it was a real plot on a real show on the real television.
My goodness, scifi really is something. Also the 90s because today no one would ever dare write that.
Is anyone else thinking that that might be an overestimation of the morality of current writers?
And I know this was 17 years ago, and 2009 was also a different time from today (because wtf was Glee? 🫣), but one of the creepiest things in the franchise to me was what the Universe characters used the communication stones for 😭😡
Dear J/C authors,
Why do so many of you write Janeway as if she’s like 4 feet (1.2m) tall? Kate Mulgrew is slightly above average height for a woman in the U.S. 🤨
Coming to Stargate from Star Trek, it's like, 'FUCK your prime directive.' It's so funny.
Like Trek has all these episodes where the prime directive causes the plot. At it's silliest, it's an excuse for our heroes to have to dress up as gangers. At it's grandest, it's the hinge point of an excrutiating moral dilemna. And Stargate just says 'fuck that noise.' There are so many episodes where the team's arrival is actively harmful to the planets' natives. And sometimes our guys go 'whoopsie doopsie' before moving on, but sometimes they don't. It's hilarous and perfect and such an (unintentional?) indictment of the US Military. I love it so much.
I think the difference is that SG-1 stumbled into the gate technology, whereas the members of the Federation each reached the point where their society created a warp capable ship themselves. If an alien in the Star Trek universe who’d never dreamed of achieving the speed of light in their lifetime suddenly happened upon a warp capable ship, and was able to figure out how to use it, they probably wouldn’t feel the need to follow something like the Prime Directive either. And similarly, the Tollans and Nox were attempting to follow their own versions of the Prime Directive because they were the ones way more technologically advanced than Earth in the Stargate universe
truly do not understand how people just slip into relationships and jobs and opportunities and friend groups and lifestyles. to me there are a million obstacles to navigate in a single basic conversation

Sorry, I just have to post this. 🫠
Thank you, sir.
For what?
For being here for me.
Always.
I love when Elizabeth Weir accidentally reps The Neurodivergent Girl Experience™ of refusing to sit "normally" in chairs
Headcanon that she sometimes sits like this at her desk. Everyone is too afraid of her to comment on it, as they should be (if anyone does comment on it - probably Kavanagh - John just gives them the evil eye until they get uncomfortable and shut up)
'People are panicking about AI tools the same way they did when the calculator was invented, stop worrying' cannot stress enough the calculator did not forcibly pervade every aspect of our lives, has such a low error rate it's a statistical anomaly when it does happen, isn't built on mass plagiarism, and does not obliterate the fucking environment when you use it. Be so fucking serious right now

“Hey, if you’d been listening, you’d know that Nintendos pass through everything.”
He really tries to listen to her more and be less of an ass at the end of S3.
I think that’s when he really started falling for her.
ok but if amanda tapping walked up to me in the pouring rain and offered me a job i would say yes immediately
