Friendly reminder that the reason you feel so much better is because of your meds, don’t stop taking them unless you talk to your doctor first, you really do need them, I promise.
Around June I stopped taking my eye medication because I hadn’t had a problem with my eyes in months. I got really lazy about doing it; then I stopped them altogether.
Turns out, the reason I stopped having problems with my eyes was because I was religiously taking my medication. Whodathunk. Now I have to work to get back to the place I was before I decided I was “better” (I wasn’t!).
If you thought this post was just about anti-depressants or lithium, it could be! For me, this post is about eyedrops, for you it might be about antibiotics, or it might be about zoloft. Whatever it is, please consider talking to your doctor before making a sudden shift to stop taking it. It’s not bad to be on medication. It’s not bad to need it.
…and on a related note, do not let anyone tell you that because you start feeling worse if you don’t take your medication, that means you’re “addicted”. That is not how addiction works.
Okay everyone reblog this version
petition to make Americans google “euro” before writing fic
I mean you could probably take a bump off a euro. I would imagine. Perhaps. Maybe. But yeah, you ain’t rolling that shit.
tumblr is such a unique experience in 2021 because it’s probably the only place on the internet, or in real life, really, where there is absolutely no point. there is no agenda, and no purpose, it’s just a place i can create this little bubble of art, and self-expression, and poetry, and live in it peacefully. scrolling through my blog and appreciating photography, fashion, literature, etc. just feels like a beautiful respite from everything outside of this website? no news no performance no productivity just pure vibes
Well, well, well, look who’s back on her fanfic bullsh*t. Same angst, different fandom...

The Damsels
“Don’t make me do this, please.” Hermione pleaded with the women in the room, catching their eyes in turn.
“You have to,” Pansy sounded tired but still resolute.
“I can’t,” Hermione whispered unable to hide the tears anymore.
“It’s the only way,” Ginny replied.
“He won’t believe me.”
“You have to make him believe it,” Daphne said, her blue eyes soft as she crouched down to face Hermione.
“I can’t. He won’t,” Hermione argued.
“Hermione, listen to me,” Daphne began, her tone firm, “you have to make him believe you don’t love him, it’s the only way to save him.”
“I-” Hermione sobbed, too tired to stop the tears. She dropped her head, her hair falling around her as the tears fell, missing the looks the other women shared above her.
“I know, Granger, I know.” Pansy soothed in an uncharacteristic show of gentleness, “but it’s the only way. If the Dark Lord thinks Draco loves you and you love him in return he will do everything in his power to destroy both of you. And he will succeed.”
“She’s right ‘mione,” Ginny said softly, reaching out and brushing a damp lock away from Hermione’s tear streaked face and tilting her friend's head up, “He’ll break Malfoy just to prove he can. Just because you love him.”
“Draco- Malfoy- won’t believe I don’t love him,” Hermione tried again.
“Then make him believe it. Hurt him to save him,” Daphne told her fiercely.
Hermione was out of words. Just looking at the faces of the three women surrounding her told her that they knew what this would cost, they knew the hurt it would cause, that they wouldn’t be telling her to do it if they didn’t have to.
“He’ll hate me,” Hermione cried softly, clutching onto Ginny in a rare show of weakness.
“Let him hate you,” Pansy told her fiercely. “It means he’s alive.”
Hermione reached out blindly and grabbed Pansy’s hand, holding tightly, the other witch clinging back.
“Doing this will mean he will live to hate you. Let him survive to forgive you,” Daphne added, from in front of Hermione, the other two witches bracketing her either side. Unconsciously forming a circle with Ginny and Pansy.
“Convince him you don’t love him, it’s the only way to protect him.”
Words were beyond Hermione at that point, all she had were tears. She nodded, her head dropping again as she sobbed and told the other three without words that she would do what she had to do when the time came as she always did. And they understood, so they circled her while she cried, protected her while she broke, so she could survive again to face another day. Because that’s what they did.

Fan fic authors are not professional writers.
Expecting them to be perfect and never make mistakes is setting yourself up to be an asshole.
Do you know how long it takes to write and publish a 60k novel for most published authors? Years. Plural.
That includes time spent writing multiple drafts and doing research and multiple rounds of edits. Access to a professional editor, and the ability to hire sensitivity readers. The list goes on and on and on.
Fan fic authors owe you nothing. They are churning out multiple novel length fics (or the equivalent in one shots) a year while still holding down school/jobs.
And you’re gonna jump down their throats because they wrote a pairing differently than you prefer??
Shut the fuck up.
Tags exists for a reason. Read them and move on if the fic is not for you.
I mean really. We all just lived through fucking 2020. Let people enjoy their FAKE gay porn in peace.
Jfc.
This is so real. I saw a post going around about how “fanfic authors don’t accept critique anymore” And it’s like? Imagine you bake a batch of cookies and you take it to the office to share with your co-workers. And then someone just sits down and it’s like “Ah, the flavour profile is not quite proper. See, you should have added the brown sugar *after* the flour, and” And it’s like? Just eat the fucking cookie, Mike, and shut the fuck up. lmao A hobby doesn’t need critique. You don’t even need to be good at it. Let people have fun on the internet, for god’s sake.

Why so loud
So I have read several people complaining that they can't be expected to know the "unwritten rules" of fandom. So here's what I wish people knew:
Fanfiction is fiction.
Fictional people are not real.
Fictional people do not have rights.
Fictional people cannot be abused.
Reading or writing about something does not mean the desire to do or support it in the real world.
If I find art upsetting/triggering/disgusting/outraging/unpleasant/squicky/distressing/offensive, it is on me not to read it, not the creators and hosts to remove it.
Curate your own experience. The back buttons exist for a reason.
If you don't trust yourself to do that, get someone you trust to do it for you.
Fandom is an adult space. Adults create and own and host fandom spaces. If minors want to participate, then the onus is on them and their parents/guardians/trusted adults to ensure they participate appropriately, not on strange adults to stop being adults.
You often don't know the assault status or mental health status or neurotype or race or nationality or religion or gender or sexuality or age of a creator or consumer, and they do not have to disclose to you to justify their fantasy.
AO3 is not a safe space. It is not intended to be a safe space. Proceed accordingly.
Just because you don't like something or find it offensive doesn't mean it is a "problem" that "has to be dealt with".
Most characters in anime are not white.
There is no onus on you to reblog or share anything.
Everyone makes mistakes in fandom and is less than their best self sometimes.
Persistent pseudonyms encourage long term relationships.
Ship wars are stupid.
Someone else enjoying things does not impact on your own enjoyment of other things.
Tagging and warning is a courtesy, not a requirement. Assume any fic might contain untagged content.
Rating is an imprecise art, not a science.
Don't hassle IP creators.
Most people who are in fandom are hoping to make connections based on a shared passion.
Trying to profit from transformative fanworks puts us all at risk.
No one is obligated to share your head canon or fanon.
Being kind rarely fails to pay off.
It is okay to block and remove people who make your experience unpleasant. You don't have to placate them. (Learn from my mistakes).
Britpicking is a good thing.
You don't have to justify why you like a canon/pairing/trope/kink. Sometimes navel gazing is fun, but you don't have an obligation to explain yourself, especially to strangers. I share the overwhelming desire to refute an unfair accusation, but the people accusing you are rarely doing so in good faith, so you're batting a losing wicket.
I'm not your Mum. (Well, okay, a very few of you can call me Mum or Mom, but if you are one of them you already know who you are ❤️)
If you aren't mature enough to take responsibility for your online experiences, you aren't mature enough to be in fandom spaces.
This.
a book list: 6/?
the night circus by Erin Morgenstern
“There are no more battles between good and evil, no monsters to slay, no maidens in need of rescue. Most maidens are perfectly capable of rescuing themselves in my experience”
I love this book so deeply, and I maintain that in the right hands The Night Circus would be a perfect tv show.
Honestly my goal as an aspiring writer is to write a fic for a rarepair that is so good that you’ll instantly fall in love but there will never be anything else quite like it
#hermione granger’s ruthlessness is so great though #like what an interesting flaw for your super smart overachiever bookworm character to have
#WORD #she’s SUPER SCARY and i love it #this photoset doesn’t even include like #turning a journalist into a beetle and keeping her captive #permanently disfiguring a fellow student for not holding up under pressure #erasing her parents’ identities without giving them any agency or choice
Hermione would have made a wonderful Slytherin. Fiiiiiiiiiiiic iiiiiiit!
The reason Hermoine isn’t a Slytherin is because she believes every time that what she’s doing is right. Not good for her. Not convenient. Not simply contributing to her goals. But she believes, with a whole-hearted conviction, that her choices are objectively right, fitting, and just. That’s why she doesn’t flinch. It’s one thing to think you’re doing something because it serves your ends, or its necessary. It’s another to have the burning conviction that the thing you’re about to do, no matter how heinous it might seem, is morally sound and just.
Slytherins know they’re justifying their means to get their ends. Gryffindors believe that every means they employ are just. Hermoine is a crusader knight with a wand, and doesn’t care what the collateral damage is so long as she is just in her destruction.
This is why Gryffindors are infinitely more dangerous than Slytherins. Slytherins serve their interests, and revise their plans when their interests aren’t served. They deal in reality. That’s what ambition is. But Gryffindors will march a bloody path down to the gates of hell if they are convicted of the moral necessity and justice of it, casualties be damned.
